Chapter 1558 — Chapter 1558 Chronicles of the Immortal Monarch(3)

1558 Chronicles of the Immortal Monarch(3)

Although there were still thousands of scrolls left to be read, there were only a few scrolls left that focused on the Immortal Monarch's journey. The other scrolls were dedicated to miscellaneous information on the Immortal Monarch and his companions.

"After spending thousands of years convincing the beast clans that humans could coexist with them, the Immortal Monarch helped some of the beast clans settle around human settlements, allowing them to experience it firsthand."

"Of course, the humans weren't happy about having beasts as neighbors, but there wasn't anything they could do to get rid of them, as the beast clans were all protected by the Immortal Monarch, someone even the Celestial Emperor had to be respectful around."

"Eventually, after many decades of coexistence, humans and beasts grew accustomed to each other's presence. Gradually, they began to converse and build a sense of camaraderie, transforming from wary neighbors to unlikely allies."

"Unfortunately, not every beast clan managed to coexist with humans. The Immortal Monarch did not force this on either side and allowed the beast clans that did not want to be around humans to return to their original settlement."

"Eventually, the notion of humans coexisting with beasts became commonplace. Many beast clans lived alongside humans, collaborating to build thriving cities and communities, breaking down the barriers that once separated them."

"The Immortal Monarch, content with the harmony he had fostered, ceased his role as mediator between humans and beasts and vanished from the world. For several thousand years, his whereabouts and activities remained a mystery. When he finally reappeared several thousand years later, he seemed like a different person, transformed by the unknown experiences during his absence."

"His demeanor had shifted significantly; he appeared more serious, less approachable, and carried an aura of profound gravity. The cause of this transformation was unknown, but it was unmistakable. Not long after his return, the Immortal Monarch sought a private audience with the Celestial Emperor."

"At that time, no one thought much of his audience with the Celestial Emperor, as they were known to be quite friendly and had many conversations before. However, this time was different. For reasons unknown to anyone but the two, their conversation sparked a fierce battle that lasted seven days straight. The Celestial Palace was flipped upside-down and turned to ruins as a result."

"The Celestial Emperor survived, albeit heavily injured from the battle. As for the Immortal Monarch, he vanished once more, now branded a criminal. Despite this, the Celestial Emperor refrained from hunting him down, wary of the Immortal Monarch's immense power and the might of his Nine Divine Supremes."

"News of the Immortal Monarch attacking the Celestial Emperor sent shockwaves throughout the Divine Heaven, raising questions from all corners. Speculations quickly followed, but with so little information to go on, most of these theories sounded like pure fantasy."

"After a few more thousand years of silence, the Immortal Monarch reappeared and confronted the Celestial Emperor once again—with all Nine Divine Supremes by his side this time. The Celestial Army was prepared to fight to the death to protect the Celestial Emperor, but to their surprise, the Immortal Monarch only uttered a few words to the Celestial Emperor before leaving. Yet, the Celestial Emperor's face remained etched with fear long after the Immortal Monarch had departed."

"The words uttered by the Immortal Monarch were 'Only I control my own fate, nobody else'."

"The Immortal Monarch vanished from the world after that, never to appear in public again. Shortly after his disappearance, a catastrophic event unfolded. The sky turned a bright red, as if painted with blood, and the Divine Heaven was split into nine different realms, becoming what we know today as the Nine Heavens."

"It's evident that the Immortal Monarch had something to do with the event, but nobody knew why—except for the Celestial Emperor. However, the Celestial Emperor remained silent despite being questioned by the entire world."

Xi Meili returned the scroll to the shelf with a bewildered look on her face, clearly taken aback by what she'd just read.

Even Yuan wore a pondering expression on his face.

"So the Immortal Monarch caused the Divine Heaven to become the Nine Heavens, and it had something to do with the Celestial Emperor. I wonder what happened after he accomplished his ambitions that caused him to change so drastically?" Yuan muttered to himself.

"Whatever happened, it was disastrous enough to split the entire world into pieces." Xi Meili commented.

"Can you think of anything powerful enough to split the Divine Heaven?" Yuan asked.

Xi Meili pondered for a moment before shaking her head, "While a Cultivation God may have enough power to destroy the world, splitting the Divine Heavens into several pieces while keeping the world intact is a different story. Maybe a treasure? I have no clue, honestly."

"What do you think?" she then asked.

"It was most likely a fight that caused it. As for the Immortal Monarch's opponent, there's too little information to go on, so I cannot imagine."

"A fight? The Immortal Monarch had the Nine Divine Supremes, who were considered the most powerful entities in the world, each strong enough to rival a Cultivation God. I cannot imagine an opponent the nine—ten of them couldn't defeat even working together." Xi Meili shook her head, finding it hard to believe anything could defeat the Nine Divine Supremes when even the Celestial Emperor was powerless before them, not to mention the Immortal Monarch himself.

Yuan couldn't argue with Xi Meili's logic. However, he couldn't shake the feeling that it was definitely a fight that caused it.

Suddenly, a particular term appeared inside Yuan's head.

'Outer God…'

He recalled the Black Death uttering this word for some reason.

'What if there are existences out there that defy the laws of this world—with power that surpasses the Nine Divine Supremes?' he wondered inwardly.

It wouldn't be the first time something extraordinary existed beyond their knowledge. Take Earth and Cultivation Online, for example.

If it weren't for Cultivation Online, Yuan might never have discovered the existence of the Nine Heavens, a realm far beyond their world's understanding and reach.
