Chapter 1640 — Chapter 1640 A Vicious Curse

"Since you're her mother, this changes everything. However, that doesn't mean I'm willing to let you take her away from me." Yuan said to the Primordial Phoenix after a moment of silence.

He continued, "How about this? Why don't you help your daughter recover first, then we can discuss her future together? I promise that I won't leave before the two of you have a conversation. I really don't want to fight you."

"Hmph! You don't want to fight me? You aren't even capable of doing so!" The Primordial Phoenix sneered.

She turned to look at the Primal Monarch and continued, "Although you haven't done anything yet, I am still going to consider this a breach of our agreement, Primal Monarch!"

"Does this mean you have given up on trying to kill my son?"

"That will depend on my daughter's testimony. If I find out that he's mistreated her even slightly, I will not hesitate to kill him even if it's the last thing I do," she responded in a cold voice.

The Primordial Phoenix removed the flames shortly after and said to Yuan, "Follow me."

She created a rift and entered it.

"Go ahead. I won't be coming along." The Primal Monarch said.

"Alright." Yuan nodded and followed the Primordial Phoenix into the rift.

Yingzi, who had been watching in the background, silently followed him. As for the three Phoenixes…

"So the Phoenix inside that egg was my eldest sister, huh? No wonder I felt an odd sense of familiarity with her..." the young lady mused, her voice softening as the realization dawned on her.

"I can't believe that the First Princess has returned after so long…" The woman muttered in a dazed voice.

"Things are going to get chaotic here very soon. I need to notify everyone of the situation as soon as possible." The middle-aged man sighed.

Once Yuan stepped through the rift, he found himself in a vast, breathtaking garden that seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction. The air was thick with the fragrance of medicinal plants, all flourishing with vibrant yang energy.

"Put my daughter on that altar." The Primordial Phoenix pointed to the altar covered with complex array symbols in the distance.

Yuan nodded and approached the altar before retrieving Feng Yuxiang's egg and placing it in the center of the altar.

"Get back," said the Primordial Phoenix as she stood before the altar.

Yuan stepped back and waited for her next move.

However, the Primordial Phoenix didn't do anything besides silently staring at the egg with a motherly gaze.

A few moments later, she suddenly frowned and roared, "Which bastard placed such a vicious curse on her?!"

"That happened to her before we met, so I don't know the details." Yuan quickly shook his head when she turned to look at him for answers.

"Just so you know, I've been working to get that curse removed since we met," he added.

"Hmph! The reason why she hasn't emerged from her shell is because of this damned curse." The Primordial Phoenix revealed with a cold sneer.

"Unfortunately, I cannot do anything until we completely remove the curse, or I risk injuring her, even killing her."

"Do you have a way to remove the curse?" Yuan asked.

"We can remove the curse with the help of a treasure. However, we don't have that treasure at our territory."

"But you know where it is, right?"

"The treasure is called the Sacred Chalice of Purification, and it is in the possession of those annoying dragons at the Divine Dragon Sanctuary," she said.

"The Divine Dragon Sanctuary?" Yuan didn't expect to hear this name again.

"It's a rank one territory, one that rivals our Eternal Phoenix Domain, controlled by the dragon race," the Primordial Phoenix sighed, her frustration evident. "I would retrieve the treasure myself, but doing so would undoubtedly spark an all-out war between our territories."

"I can get the treasure." Yuan suddenly volunteered.

She looked at him and sneered, "You? What can you possibly achieve with that level of cultivation? Your Monarch's power is useless against those whose strength far exceeds your own." Her tone was sharp, dripping with condescension.

"Must everything be solved with violence and force?" Yuan shook his head.

He proceeded to transform, revealing his dragon form to her.

"You..." The Primordial Phoenix's frown deepened as she sensed the unmistakable scent of a dragon exuding from his body. This was the first time such a scent had breached her sacred territory—her private sanctuary. Her displeasure was evident, her gaze hardening with irritation.

"I'll go there as a fellow dragon," Yuan said with a calm smile, ignoring her displeased glares. "Even if you go there as a dragon, it won't do you any good," the Primordial Phoenix scoffed. "The Sacred Chalice of Purification isn't just any treasure—it's one of their most valuable, revered as sacred. It has never left their territory before, and they guard it like their life depends on it."

"That does sound troublesome…" Yuan mumbled to himself after hearing this.

After a moment of silence, he shrugged, "Well, I'll figure something out—probably."

"You… why would my daughter follow someone as foolish as you…?" The Primordial Phoenix sighed.

"Then do you have a better suggestion?" Yuan inquired.

The Primordial Phoenix remained silent.

Eventually, she said, "Even the Primal Monarch might not be able to acquire the treasure from them without a fight, so I really have no idea how you're going to do it. However, it's still better than suddenly going to war with them—not that I am afraid of them or anything like that."

"We've been trying to conquer or eliminate each other since the beginning of time," the Primordial Phoenix continued coldly. "We've gone to war more than once, even for reasons far more insignificant than this. All we need is time to prepare, and that's exactly what we'll be doing while you do your thing. So don't worry. Even if you fail to secure the treasure, we'll strike when the time is right."

Yuan swallowed nervously.

The Primordial Phoenix's expression was deadly serious as she spoke of going to war with the dragons, all for the sake of reviving her daughter. Her resolve was unwavering, showing just how far she was willing to go for her child's life.
