Chapter 1756 — Chapter 1756 Doubting Their Identities

"Z-Zither Goddess, I am going to ask you a question, and you'll need to answer me as if your life depends on it."

The Dragon King spoke with a grim expression shortly after Tan Songyun exposed the Dragon Emperor.

Tan Songyun didn't wait for the question and responded, "That Dragon Emperor is a fake, and I am willing to stake my life on this claim."

The Dragon King stared at her in silence for a long moment before nodding his head, "Alright. I believe you. Honestly, I have been a little suspicious of their identity since the very beginning, but it wasn't enough to make me call them out. After all, there's a slight chance that they were the real deal."

"However, after hearing your words, it has become clear to me that they are likely imposters."

Tan Songyun nodded, "Thank you for believing me."

"That begs the question, what is their objective?" she asked the next moment.

The Dragon King hesitated for a moment before responding, "They're here for my Ancient Seal."

"What is that?" Tan Songyun raised her eyebrows in a puzzled manner.

The existence of Ancient Seals was a highly sensitive and closely guarded secret, with the Celestial Emperor actively suppressing their spread to minimize the risk of anyone attempting to obtain them.

Aware of how sensitive the information was, the Dragon King said, "I cannot tell you. All I can say is that it is an extremely dangerous object that must not fall into the wrong hands, or it could bring disaster to the Nine Heavens."

'Being disaster to the Nine Heavens…? Why would he want something dangerous like that?' Tan Songyun pondered inwardly.

"Anyway, what are you going to do now that you know they're imposters?"

The Dragon King fell silent again. Sometime later, he said, "I cannot outright call them frauds. It's not that I don't trust you, but there is still a tiny chance they could be the real deal."

Tan Songyun couldn't fault the Dragon King for being cautious. After all, a single mistake or offense toward a Dragon Emperor could lead to the execution of his entire Shen Family.

Moreover, although Tan Songyun was 99 percent confident that the Dragon Emperor was Tian Kai in disguise, she was not absolutely certain herself. The possibility that the Dragon Emperor was a real Dragon Emperor had crossed her mind, but she simply couldn't believe it.

"I am going to go after the Dragon Emperor's identity since it'd be difficult to expose the one who claims to be from the Xi Family, as I know nothing about the Xi Family myself," said the Dragon King.

Sometime later, the Dragon King summoned everyone from the Shen Family, excluding Yuan and Xi Meili, before revealing the truth to them.

"What?! They're imposters?!"

"That's ridiculous!"

"Father, why would you believe that woman who almost ruined us?!" Shen Shi exclaimed.

The Dragon King sighed, "I have known the Zither Goddess for much longer than everyone here. She may be difficult at times, but she is someone trustworthy. She also has no reason to screw us over."

"I don't believe they are imposters!" Shen Shi declared. "Father! Don't do this! If you're wrong and offend the Dragon Emperor, our entire Shen Family will be executed!"

The rest of the Shen Family agreed with Shen Shi. Nobody there wanted to confront the Dragon Emperor, even if there was a chance he could be an imposter. The risks were simply too high.

Seeing their response, Tan Songyun said, "So you're going to continue treating him like a real Dragon Emperor despite knowing he's an imposter? If the real Dragon Emperors from the upper heavens were to learn of this, you'd still be facing execution." "Are you threatening us, you bitch?!" Shen Shi roared as she pointed at Tan Songyun.

"That's quite harsh. I am merely stating the facts and possibilities. I have no intention of snitching, especially not to those Dragon Emperors," Tan Songyun sneered.

Meanwhile, inside their room, Yuan said to Xi Meili, "They're doubting our identity because of the Zither Goddess. There's a good chance they'll confront us."

"What?! What should we do?!" Xi Meili panicked after hearing this.

"From what I'm hearing, they won't come after you but me. I don't know how they'll ask me to prove my identity, but I'll go along with it. This will be a good learning experience for the future if we need to prove our identities again," he said.

"What if you fail to prove your identity?" Xi Meili then asked.

"Well… then we run." Yuan shrugged, leaving her speechless.

Sometime later, as the Shen Family continued to argue back and forth about whether they should confront Yuan, their meeting was abruptly interrupted by Yuan himself.

"So you doubt my identity?" Yuan had appeared in the meeting room without alerting anyone, as they were too absorbed in their conversation.

"D-Dragon Emperor?!"

His sudden appearance shocked everyone but Tan Songyun.

Shen Shi quickly approached him and said, "T-that's not true! I believe you, Your Majesty!"

Yuan ignored her, looked straight at the Dragon King, and said, "We offered to prove our identities when we first arrived, but you declined our offer. Now, you doubt our identities? How do you explain this, Dragon King?"

"T-that's…" The Dragon King was speechless. He couldn't come up with an excuse, no matter how hard he tried.

Tan Songyun then spoke, "If you're the real deal, then you wouldn't mind proving your identity to us, right? Of course, we won't be relying on any of your methods since we can't trust you."

"What do you have in mind?" Yuan played along.

Tan Songyun turned to look at the Dragon King, who quickly responded, "I-I am a Dragon King! Regardless of my achievements and background in the Fifth Heaven, my bloodline is powerful enough to make me a Dragon King. Therefore, we will test your bloodline against mine. Do you have an issue with this, Dragon Emperor?"

Yuan shook his head and calmly responded, "Fine by me."
