Chapter 1836 — Chapter 1836 Golden Spirit Pill

"You can call me Old Zhai. Please, follow me, Young Master," Old Zhai said as he turned around and began leading Yuan to the living quarters for Outer Court disciples.

"Since you are the first one to come here, you may choose your own living quarters," said Old Zhai as they entered the residential area.

Yuan nodded and walked straight to the building Tian Yang used to live in—Building 913, which was located in the middle of the residential area.

After Yuan took the keys to the building, Old Zhai brought him to the distributing hall that was right outside the residential area.

There, Yuan was given his uniform, a small leather pouch that contained a few spirit stones, a map of the sect, and a rule book that contained every rule a disciple must follow as a disciple of the Immortal Monastery.

"My job ends here, Young Master. However, if you ever need help with something, don't hesitate to find me," Old Zhai said to him as they left the distribution hall.

"I have a few questions," Yuan swiftly said.

"I will try my best to answer them."

"What is my goal in the Immortal Monastery?"

Old Zhai scratched his head, almost as if he was asked a hard question. "Is this a trick question? I don't know the Young Master's goals, so there's no way I can answer your question. That said, most disciples aim for promotions since that's the only way to receive more resources from the sect."

"So, I should aim to become an Inner Court disciple and eventually a Core disciple?" Yuan asked, posing what might seem like obvious questions to most. However, he needed to confirm the goal of his trial.

"That's what most disciples do…" Old Zhai nodded. "After all, you only have ten years to become an Inner Court disciple. If you fail to do so, you'll be forced to leave the sect. However, once you become an Inner Court disciple, you can stay in the Immortal Monastery forever."

"I see. Thank you."

Yuan said nothing further and quietly returned to his living quarters, his mind occupied with thoughts about his next steps.

Now that he had graduated from the Bamboo Garden and officially become a disciple of the Immortal Monastery, he understood that he would need to climb the ranks like any other disciple—at least for now. Until he found a clear goal or purpose, this was the path he would follow.

"If I recall correctly, in order to even attempt the Inner Court examination, I need to reach a certain cultivation and have enough contribution to the sect."

In the past, not including one's contribution, an Outer Court disciple must reach Spirit Master to attempt the Inner Court examination. "So I have a decade to reach Spirit Master, huh? Given my current talents, I definitely won't be able to reach that goal without external help."

If he cultivated normally without improving his talents somehow, he would need far more than just a decade to reach Spirit Master. Fortunately, he could use points to speed up his cultivation. However, just increasing the spiritual energy around him wasn't good enough. He needed to somehow improve his talents.

Yuan retrieved the rule book and spent the next hour reading every single word.

"I only get one spirit stone a month as an Outer Court disciple, huh? A single spirit stone will provide me with a week's worth of cultivation, so I will need to somehow acquire more cultivation resources. This is definitely much better than receiving one spirit stone every three months like before, though."

Yuan quickly thought of another method of acquiring cultivation resources. Although it was dangerous, it would not only help speed up his cultivation, but it might even increase his points.

"Before I start, I should prepare myself."

Yuan retrieved the sect's map and quickly located the point store, which was conveniently situated just outside the residential area.

Shortly after, he left his living quarters and made his way toward the store.

At the store, Yuan began by purchasing a dozen recovery pills. With his immediate needs taken care of, he turned his attention to the rest of the store's inventory, curious about what else he could acquire. Thanks to being the first participant to become a disciple, Yuan now had an additional 10,000 points to spend, giving him far more options than he'd ever had before.

He already had two Spirit-grade swords, and as much as he wanted to upgrade them to Earth-grade, he lacked the cultivation to wield them.

'I should focus on my cultivation.'

Yuan browsed through the list of treasures for improving talent, and to his surprise, there were significantly more items available than what he had seen during his time in the Bamboo Garden.

"Golden Spirit Pill… 7,500 points…"

The Golden Spirit Pill was a valuable pill that could boost one's cultivation talents slightly, and it was the cheapest treasure on that list.

"I'll buy this," Yuan pointed at the Golden Spirit Pill.

The young man working the store nodded and said, "Give me a moment to retrieve your purchase."

He disappeared behind the store and returned a few moments later with a pill box in his grasp.

"I have deducted 7,500 points from you, ID 913, Outer Court Disciple Xiao Yang."

Yuan tossed the pill box inside his spatial ring and immediately left.

Upon returning home, Yuan took out the Golden Spirit Pill and, without hesitation, tossed it into his mouth.

The pill dissolved almost instantly, transforming into a golden liquid that flowed smoothly down his throat. A warm, invigorating sensation spread through his body as the pill's potent energy began to take effect.

Once Yuan fully digested the pill, his cultivation went up a level, reaching the second level of Spirit Apprentice. He cultivated normally to test out the pill's result, and sure enough, his cultivation speed had tremendously improved—at least compared to his initial cultivation rate. Although it was far from his goal, it was a start.
