Chapter 1974 — 1974: The Mystic Sea Dragon Clan's Invasion(6)

As the Immortals relentlessly unleashed their martial techniques on Yuan, he continued to ignore their attacks and struck whoever was the closest to him, reducing their numbers with terrifying speed and indifference, almost as if the difference in their cultivation meant nothing in his eyes.

As time passed, Yuan's prowess only continued to increase as the Dragon God's Vengeance claimed more victims with a dragon bloodline.

"Fuck! Why aren't our attacks working on him?!"

"Where did this monster come from?!"

"S-Scatter! Get away from him!"

"I can't! He's too fast—Ahh!"

"Damn it! How is he disappearing before our eyes, even escaping detection from our divine sense?! This doesn't make any sense!"

Though it appeared that Yuan was merely chasing them down, he was, in truth, weaving Shadow Veil into every movement, distorting their perception and turning the battlefield into a nightmare of illusion and dread.

In the enemies' eyes, Yuan was teleporting all over the place while leaving behind clones of himself. Of course, these clones were mere illusions created using shadows with his Shadow Puppet technique.

Moreover, the Azure Dragon Clan arrived in force to support Yuan, launching a coordinated assault that both distracted the enemy and sealed off their escape route.

Witnessing their forces being decimated and thrown into disarray by a single individual, the Mystic Sea Dragon Clan's God Ascension realm powerhouses could no longer stand by. They finally moved, intent on stopping Yuan themselves.

The Mystic Sea Dragon Clan initially showed up with four God Ascension realm powerhouses, but with the First Elder gone and the Third Elder occupied with Jiao Zhenhai, only two of them were available to deal with Yuan.

Meanwhile, the Azure Dragon Clan originally had seven God Ascension realm powerhouses, but with the Three Elders' betrayal, they were down to four: Jiao Zhenhai, his parents, and the commander of the Azure Dragon Clan's army.

The moment the commander of the Azure Dragon Clan's army sensed the movements of the two God Ascension realm powerhouses, he rushed to intercept, but he was only able to hold off one, leaving the other free to advance toward Yuan.

Because of their immense power and overwhelming influence, an unspoken rule existed in the cultivation world: God Ascension realm cultivators should not interfere in large-scale battles like the ongoing war between the Azure Dragon Clan and the Mystic Sea Dragon Clan unless they were the only ones standing or the situation had reached a critical point and left them no other choice.

Of course, since this was merely an unspoken rule and not a real law, it couldn't be enforced, and there were always those who disregarded it entirely, acting as they pleased even if it damaged their reputation, just like the First Elder and the Third Elder.

Once the God Ascension realm cultivator entered the fray, Yuan was forced to halt his slaughter and turn his full attention to the approaching threat.

His opponent stood at the second level of God Ascension, the same as the First Elder. Yet, he radiated a pressure and presence that made him seem incomparably more formidable, as though they existed on entirely different tiers.

Once a cultivator stepped into the God Ascension Realm, advancing even a single level could take thousands—if not millions—of years. Because of this, it was common for cultivators in their realm to be at the same level yet differ vastly in strength, comprehension, and abilities.

The First Elder had only recently stepped into the second level of the God Ascension Realm, and as a result, his strength fell far short of its true potential. In contrast, Yuan's current opponent had long since stabilized at that level, and from the aura he exuded, he seemed to be on the verge of breaking through to the third.

"I don't know how you killed the First Elder, but you won't get to experience such a miracle for a second time," said the man.

"We'll see about that."

Yuan suddenly used Dragon's Gaze without warning.

"..."

Despite being hit by Yuan's Dragon's Gaze at full force, his opponent didn't so much as flinch, as if the technique had no effect on him whatsoever.

"It's very impressive that you've reached that level with your cultivation. However, before a real powerhouse, it's nothing but cheap tricks," said the man.

"I can see that you're a little stronger than that traitor, but so what?" Yuan spoke with a calm smile. "In the end, you'll still end up like him."

"When threatened, dogs bark in fear, which is exactly what you're doing. You can't even break through my Celestial Qi, much less touch a single hair on my body."

Yuan didn't need to verify the man's words to know they were true. At his current level, he stood no chance against him in a fair fight. The only reason he had managed to defeat the Second Elder, who was at the fifth level of God Ascension, was because he had caught him off guard and poisoned him. Even then, he would not have been able to kill the Second Elder without Zi Xuan's assistance.

As for his current opponent, he was very wary of Yuan and also had no openings with his entire body covered in Celestial Qi.

"You're right." Yuan suddenly spoke. "I do not have the capability to defeat you right now. However, I can definitely humiliate you."

"What?" The man frowned.

"Put away your Celestial Qi."

Despite having his guard up, the man could not have anticipated Yuan using the Immortal Monarch's ability.

"What is this?!"

The man was bewildered when his body listened to Yuan and began withdrawing his Celestial Qi. He hastily tried to resist the command, succeeded, and managed to stop himself from removing all of his Celestial Qi. However, he'd already removed some of his Celestial Qi by then, giving Yuan enough time to strike once.

"Don't move."

Yuan struck using the Dragon God's Vengeance with all of his might, driving it directly into the man's chest.

The man hastily retreated, but it was too late. By the time he managed to pull away, a gaping hole had already been torn through the center of his chest.

"Hm? What's this? Not only did I manage to penetrate your Celestial Qi, but I even managed to put a hole in your chest!" Yuan acted surprised, even letting out a cheeky chuckle as the man stared at the hole in silence.
