Chapter 2303 — Chapter 2303 Acting as Giant Emperor Kulas

When Kulas finally calmed down after days of rampaging, his appearance underwent another drastic transformation, turning from a massive, unstoppable giant to that of a sickly old man with one foot in his grave.

He'd gotten so weak that he could hardly speak, much less stand.

After Kulas collapsed, his family brought him to his room to rest.

"To think it would happen again right when we were beginning to feel hopeful that he'd fully recovered…"

His family sighed, looking defeated and depressed as they stood around the bed.

"So, what now?" Ren Xia asked Tian Yang.

Tian Yang clenched his fists, feeling a sense of helplessness wash over his entire being.

"We've tried countless things in the past four thousand years, but alas… In the end, we were unable to figure out anything about his illness. At this rate, I will have no choice but to head to the Holy Continent."

"That might not be a good idea," said Ren Xia. "And I am not saying this because I don't want you to go. I mean, I don't, but if you leave, there's a chance that Kulas' illness might worsen. You have suppressed his illness by being near him, and despite his current situation, you might still be suppressing it. If you suddenly leave… his illness will worsen, and that's the best scenario. Worst-case, he'll die."

Tian Yang found Ren Xia's words to be very logical. If he were still suppressing Kulas' illness even at this moment, that suppressed illness might go on a rampage the moment he leaves.

Although it wasn't definitive and merely a theory, it was an immense risk that Tian Yang didn't dare to take, as his sworn brother's life was on the line.

Unable to leave the palace, Tian Yang continued trying to solve the mystery behind Kulas' illness from within. Unfortunately, he was not a medical expert, so he mostly helped Chao Shuying as her assistant.

Several more years passed, but Kulas hasn't woken up from his slumber even once, even though he used to wake up once a year.

Kulas' coma left his family in a precarious position, especially with the war against the Three Pillars of Heaven still ongoing. Fortunately, the Giant Race was already accustomed to such conflicts and knew how to respond even without Kulas's direct command. Even so, the absence of their leader could not be ignored. If the Three Pillars of Heaven were to learn of this, they would undoubtedly launch a full-scale assault.

One day, Kulas' wives approached Tian Yang.

"Senior Tian… This may sound very sudden, but do you think you can act as the Giant Emperor for the time being?"

"What?" Tian Yang almost couldn't believe his ears.

"We heard from our husband that he acquired the Great Mammoth Body Refinement technique from you, so you should be able to transform your body."

"But why are you asking me? Your sons can do it without the technique." Tian Yang said.

"Yes, but you're the only one at the True Immortal realm. Although we could replicate his appearance, we cannot do the same with his cultivation, as it'll be easily discovered."

"We're not asking you to lead the Giant Race or fulfill the role of an emperor. We just need you to show up and meet visitors once in a while so the Three Pillars of Heaven won't realize that our husband is absent." "If they learn that our husband is bedridden, they will definitely attack the Giant Continent with full force. If that happens… we will all perish before our husband even wake up."

Hearing this, there was no way Tian Yang could refuse, so he agreed to pretend to be Kulas.

Thus, Tian Yang had a new routine in his life. Once every few months, he would disguise himself as Kulas to meet with people and wander the continent just to reveal his presence.

Of course, Kulas' family didn't leave Tian Yang alone and had Xie Mey, who was the most familiar with him, assist him during the meetings. They continued with this farce for several hundred years, and Tian Yang had gotten so good at pretending to be Kulas that even his family would sometimes mistake him for the real Kulas.

Because of his efforts, the Three Pillars of Heaven remained oblivious about Kulas' real condition. One day, one of Kulas' wives approached Tian Yang.

"Senior Tian… allow me to apologize in advance, but I have a request for you…"

"What is it?"

"Back when my husband was still healthy, he would regularly interact with us… embrace us," she said softly. "Now, with him like this, that's no longer possible. It's been hundreds of years since we've embraced anyone, and with the war and everything else, we're all stressed and pent up…"

She hesitated before continuing, "…Do you think you could help us?"

Tian Yang couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"You… Are you really asking me to sleep with my sworn brother's wives while he is bedridden?" he responded with a deep frown on his face. "Leave. I will pretend this interaction never happened, but don't you dare bring this subject up again in the future."

The wife sighed. Although she had anticipated such a response, she was still disappointed.

After apologizing to Tian Yang again, she left with an embarrassed feeling around her.

"Unbelievable…" Tian Yang shook his head.

The following year, Chao Shuying suddenly approached Tian Yang with a panicked look.

"S-Senior Tian! This is an emergency!"

"What happened? Did the Three Pillars of Heaven attack again?" "No! It's even worse than that! Some of our children have begun to have mood swings!"

"What?!" Tian Yang exclaimed.

He immediately followed Chao Shuying to another room, where several of Kulas' children were being restrained after going on a rampage.

"Did this just happen?" Tian Yang asked.

"Well… about that…" Chao Shuying rubbed her eyes and sighed, revealing, "Honestly, they have been showing signs for the last several years. However, we weren't certain it was the same illness affecting our husband, so we decided to watch over them for the time being until we were certain."
