Chapter 2308 — Chapter 2308 Auction for the Soul Cultivation Technique

"You want to visit the Holy Continent?" Tian Yang frowned at Ren Xia's words. "Even though you keep saying that you don't want me to go?"

"Well, we are not going there with the same objectives. You want to investigate the Three Pillars of Heaven while I am merely trying to learn more about their soul cultivation technique," she replied with a shrug.

Tian Yang sighed, "Now that I know that the Three Pillars of Heaven are not the ones behind Kulas' situation, I no longer have any reason to investigate them. If only they weren't at war with the Giant Race."

"Speaking of investigating… have you had any progress with figuring out the identity of the Eternal behind Kulas' illness?" Ren Xia then asked.

He sighed, "I have tried, but the Eternal isn't answering me."

He'd tried contacting the Eternal using the communication technique found within the Great Mammoth Body Refinement technique, but unlike Shura, this Eternal refused to meet him, no matter how long he waited. And not wanting to bother the Eternal too much, he decided to attempt to contact the Eternal once every thousand years. While that may seem like a long time, if he considered an Eternal's experience and how differently they sensed time, even a thousand years was short.

To an Eternal, the passage of a thousand years might be no different from a single day, making daily contact seem inconsequential. However, Tian Yang refused to take such a reckless risk, as provoking an Eternal was not something he was willing to gamble with.

"Anyway, even if you went to the Holy Continent, would they let you in? What's the point of going there if you cannot even get the soul cultivation technique?" Tian Yang then asked.

"Actually, they plan on selling the soul cultivation technique," Ren Xia revealed, leaving Tian Yang speechless.

"Why would they sell something so valuable?" he asked.

She shrugged.

"Who knows?"

"It's probably defective, then. Even to this day, they've kept the information about Celestial Qi a secret. If it were truly something that would benefit them, they wouldn't give it away. There's no way a safe soul cultivation technique wouldn't benefit them. And I highly doubt the Three Pillars of Heaven are in need of money."

"Well, we wouldn't know unless we have the technique in our hands," said Ren Xia. "There are not many people who are richer than us right now, especially after we raided the Immortal Clans' treasury. Kulas also said we can use their resources if we ever need to, so we're almost guaranteed to outbid everyone. It's not like we have any other use for our wealth."

"..."

After a moment of silence, Tian Yang sighed, "Do whatever you want."

"Then I'll go buy the soul cultivation technique. The auction won't start for another ten years, so I'll stay here until then."

Over the next several years, the auction for the soul cultivation technique spread like wildfire. The Three Pillars of Heaven guaranteed its safety, but even they couldn't completely eliminate the people's suspicions, who all had the same worry as Tian Yang.

If the soul cultivation technique was truly safe and revolutionary, why would the Three Pillars of Heaven, known for keeping things for themselves until they no longer needed them, sell off such a priceless technique so quickly after developing it? Something was amiss.

Of course, the Three Pillars of Heaven had a response for the growing doubt.

"This soul cultivation technique may be powerful and safe, but it has extremely harsh requirements, so not just anyone can cultivate it. In fact, no one else besides the creator has been able to cultivate it successfully, hence why we are parting with it. Moreover, the decision to sell this technique was also made by its creator."

Ten years passed in the blink of an eye, and Ren Xia left the Giant Continent to participate in the auction for the soul cultivation technique.

The auction ended up being the most successful and largest auction to date, which surprised nobody, as this was the Three Pillars of Heaven's first time doing such an event. Millions—tens of millions of cultivators and wealthy individuals participated in the auction.

Before the auction began, the Three Pillars of Heaven revealed half of the soul cultivation technique to everyone present, giving them a small taste.

"Heavens! What a powerful soul cultivation technique! And this is only half of the entire technique?!"

Even though only half of the technique was revealed, the experienced cultivators present were still able to gauge its power from that alone. The Three Pillars of Heaven were also unconcerned about anyone completing the remaining half, as the technique was extraordinarily complex. Unless someone possessed unfathomable talent, as well as the same mindset and experience as its creator, there was virtually no chance of finishing it.

When the auction officially began, the very first bid reached an astounding one hundred million spirit stones! It was an amount that instantly removed over two-thirds of the competition there.

However, that was just the beginning, as the very next bid was two hundred million, instantly doubling the previous bid.

Seeing how rapidly the price was climbing, everyone expected the auction to end quickly. After all, only a single item—the soul cultivation technique—was up for sale, and at this pace, it would be over in a matter of minutes. Many had traveled for months, even years, just to attend, and the prospect of it ending so abruptly left more than a few feeling dissatisfied.

However, to everyone's absolute surprise, the auction would go on for hours with two people directly going against each other. "One billion spirit stones," Ren Xia casually bid.

"One billion and one million spirit stones." Her opponent bid half a second later.

Although Ren Xia could easily increase the bid by tens of millions at once, she decided to mess with her opponent.

"One billion and two million spirit stones."

"One billion and three million spirit stones."

An hour later…

"Three billion, five million, and one hundred thousand spirit stones!"

"Three billion, five million, and two hundred thousand spirit stones!" Ren Xia countered.

Thus, the auction dragged on.
