Chapter 125 — Dandelion [15] - Great Knight

Though ranked Young Devils and ordinary Young Devils were both in the same stage, it was an objective truth that there was a world of difference between them.

Therefore, even though a Devil wouldn’t undergo an advancement during this leap in strength, they would still experience a transformation in power.

And this transformation was exactly what Liora was currently going through.

Having reached the peak of the True Knight rank, Liora’s power had long been unsealed, reaching the apex strength that ordinary Young Devils could possibly possess.

With her using the System to enhance her Base Stats earlier, her strength had been further unsealed.

It had crossed a certain threshold, allowing her to exert the force of a ranked Young Devil.

Watching her demonic energy boil and feeling that her power had grown dramatically once more, Liora couldn’t help but be filled with satisfaction.

However, she understood that her changes were not over just yet.

She shifted her attention back to her body.

Controlling her demonic energy—which had increased both in quality and quantity—she controlled it to turn into a hand and grab the rushing Life Force.

Then, using her mind, she manipulated it and pushed it towards her abdomen.

As her demonic energy slowly let go, the Life Force instinctively wanted to run, to continue on its previous path.

But before it could do so, an invisible force attracted it, like metal meeting a magnet.

Helpless, it could only turn back, settling into her abdomen and becoming one with the rest of the Life Force gathered there.

If it were before Liora consumed her Evolution Points, this would have been unattainable.

After all, although demonic energy was of a higher level than Life Force due to the Demon World’s influence, the two were roughly equal in power. Though the demonic energy could faintly suppress the latter, it could not manipulate it at will.

But now, the delicate balance between them had been broken.

Since Liora had regained her ranked Young Devil power, it was simple for the demonic energy to overpower her Life Force, which had remained at the True Knight stage.

With closed eyes, Liora didn’t stop but instead accelerated this process.

Her demonic energy continuously transformed into a hand and grabbed the unwilling Life Force before tossing it straight into her abdomen.

Because of her unfamiliarity with such delicate control, it took her a few minutes to accomplish this at first.

But as time passed and Liora grew increasingly acquainted with the process, the time required was greatly shortened.

More and more Life Force emerged in her abdomen, while the Life Force rushing through her body was declining.

As the Life Force gathered, it began to merge together, slowly converting into a dark-hued green orb.

The orb looked like a precious crystal, but at the same time like a vibrant seed full of vitality.

When the last portion of the Life Force fell on it, the seed was truly completed.

It shook violently, and a large amount of energy flowed out of it, rushing through Liora’s body and enhancing her power.

Her strength, agility, and vitality were all improved at a rapid rate.

Though she had undergone many transformations in the past, she couldn’t help but feel a little surprised.

"I’m afraid that besides the time I advanced to a Lesser Devil, this is the first time that my power has improved so quickly.", she murmured.

But she quickly understood the reason.

With the seed’s completion, she had advanced, surpassing the True Knight rank and becoming a Great Knight.

The energy that poured out of the seed was merely the feedback brought by her advancement, pushing her on an entirely different level.

Though this feedback didn’t last for long, it was enough to make her Knight rank match her Devil stage.

Sensing the power filling every inch of her body, Liora was pleased.

However, what made her the most delighted was not the improvement of her physical body, but the other changes driven by her advancement.

’Before one becomes a Great Knight, the only function of Life Force is to boost one’s physical strength. This is also the main weakness of this power system. Compared to Devils, Knights are half a level weaker.’

’But once one becomes a Great Knight, everything changes. Not only can Knights learn the skills included in their Knight Techniques, but they will also awaken a powerful innate ability.’

Since Liora had just become a Great Knight and had not learned any skills, she could not use the former.

But activating the latter—the innate ability that every Great Knight would awaken—was feasible.

Sensing this, Liora glanced at the Life Seed floating within her abdomen, and her mind moved.

Immediately, the Life Seed reacted.

The dark hue on its surface grew deeper, and it began releasing huge amounts of energy, like a balloon that was releasing all the air it had accumulated.

As this energy combined with Liora’s body, her physical strength skyrocketed.

In the blink of an eye, it had grown by more than fifty percent and showed no signs of halting.

’Life Ignition—this is the ability that every Great Knight will receive. By igniting one’s Life Seed, they can temporarily receive a boost in power.’

Though that boost was only temporary, the enormous strength it provided was enough to make it an incredibly effective trump card.

Of course, such an ability did not come without a cost.

Each time a Great Knight ignited their Life Seed, letting the energy increase their strength, it would put a heavy strain on their body.

This strain might be negligible for a short period of time, but if one overused Life Ignition frequently, their lifespan would quickly deplete.

From losing a couple of days of lifespan at the start to losing months, years, or even decades of one’s life.

This also led to a large number of Great Knights passing away shortly after their advancement.

Not at the hands of their enemies, but as a result of exhausting their lifespan.
