Chapter 297 — Tasks

Liora was quite confused.

She leaned towards the latter option, though that way, it didn’t make sense why the function hadn’t appeared when she created Tongue of the Abyss and Reanimation.

Ultimately, Liora could only make note of it and push it aside for the time being.

She felt that she had to conduct further experiments in order to find out the truth.

With the main question half-answered, her focus shifted to her other doubt.

What was the function of this new column?

Finding the answer was far easier and way less complicated.

All she had to do was give it a try by consuming her Evolution Points.

Thinking of this, she didn’t hesitate. Her mind focused on the [Techniques] column, and she clicked on the (+) button beside it.

The familiar flickering of the System Panel occurred. But as always, Liora had no time to take a look at it.

Information poured into her mind, regarding the operation of Qi and Blood, the strengthening of one’s body, and the use of sabers.

At the same time, her strength once again began to improve.

--

The transformation did not last for long. Only a couple of minutes later, everything was over, with no great vision having appeared.

As Liora checked on her state, she discovered that her strength had improved considerably, both in terms of energy and physical strength.

However, she hadn’t undergone any massive change, unlike what one would expect.

She was still a Lesser Devil and a Grandmaster, albeit a slightly stronger one.

But Liora was not disappointed. Through this experience, she had witnessed the power of this new function.

"Can the System improve the technique itself?"

"Although the Blood Blade Technique is still a Grandmaster-level technique, I can feel that it has become stronger. The original errors have been patched up, and the technique has been further supplemented."

"It has become... more complete.", Liora judged.

Thinking of this, she glanced down at the System Panel and noticed that her Evolution Points had decreased by about ten thousand.

The (+) behind the Blood Blade Technique was still there, meaning that she could improve it further if she wished.

But having already tested this new function, she did not rush to do so.

"Creating the Heavenly Devil ability has already consumed most of the points I’ve accumulated."

"It’d be better to keep some for now, in case of an emergency. For the foreseeable future, my main goal should be to obtain more points."

Having decided and made a rough plan for herself, Liora ended her seclusion.

Without taking another look at the forbidden area, her figure turned blurry before completely vanishing.

--

Liora possessed all the memories of herself before her awakening.

She was very familiar with the Blood Devil Sect, an organization she had built on her own.

Thus, it didn’t take her long to reach her destination. It was a three-story pavilion, painted in red that made it look as if it were dripping with blood, while a team of guards stood at the entrance and patrolled around it.

Noticing her arrival, these people did not stop her. They respectfully bowed, clearly recognizing her.

Stepping inside, Liora took her seat before her consciousness swept out. Two lights flew out of the pavilion and rushed through the air, each landing on a different part of the sect.

Then, she raised her head and waited calmly.

Her gaze passed through the sect’s buildings, surveying the disciples, the Elders, and the sect itself.

"Thousands of Blood Awakening Warriors, hundreds at the Blood Refinement realm."

"Unfortunately... besides me, the entire sect has less than a dozen Masters."

Liora’s words were plain and casual, and her disdain for such a force was clear.

But in fact, this power was already overwhelming in this world.

Such power had allowed the Blood Devil Sect to become one of the Seven Great Sects in the Northern Lands, being the strongest evil sect in particular.

While Liora was contemplating, two figures walked into the hall.

One elderly man and one young woman immediately bowed upon seeing her, as Liora’s gaze shifted to them.

With her experience and strength, she was able to see right through them.

Both of these people were Masters, equivalent to ranked Young Devils.

The old man was slightly stronger than the woman, but the difference was not too great.

Still, while the two were both Deputy Sect Leaders, the woman’s status in everyone’s minds was higher.

For no other reason than she was young. Although her appearance was deceiving and she was actually more than forty years old, she still had many years to live.

Given enough luck, she had a chance to reach the peak of the Master realm before dying.

On the other hand, the old man had no such chance. Many people even doubted that he would live to see the next decade.

While Liora was scanning these subordinates of hers, the two also took a peek at her.

The moment they saw her, the two people’s pupils instantly shrank.

When they faced Liora in the past, they would feel as if they were targeted by a ferocious beast that was ready to devour them.

But now, they sensed nothing.

It was as if Liora had turned into an ordinary person and was no longer a threat to them.

But was that really the case? This was obviously impossible!

"Could it be? The Sect Leader has..."

A similar thought emerged in the two people’s minds, though they quickly hid it and didn’t dare to voice it aloud.

Liora sensed the two people’s thoughts, but she didn’t attempt to solve their doubts. After a brief pause, she finally spoke up:

"I have two tasks for you and the other members of the sect."

"First, I want you to collect information regarding the other famous Sects in the Northern Lands."

"I don’t want general information that is commonly known."

"I want to know their exact strength, including the number of disciples, Elders, and Masters."

Hearing her request, the two people took a deep breath and found it hard to calm down.

Coupled with their earlier observation, they could roughly guess Liora’s purpose in asking such information.

However, they didn’t try to dissuade her. If anything, they grew excited, with the young-looking woman in particular licking her lips while trembling.
