Chapter 327 — Greatest Historian

Liora stared speechlessly at the frightened head in front of her, lying right on the doorstep of the barracks.

To be honest, even she was surprised by what had happened.

Although she had never heard of Ruins before and didn’t know as much as the frail man, she had immediately sensed that it required a bloody sacrifice.

Of course, with her current strength, breaking through the wall would not have been difficult at all.

Thus, when she heard the frail man’s earlier words, she thought that he was just fooling around.

She had never expected that this guy would be as shameless as to send everyone to their deaths with only a couple of sentences.

Moreover...

"You are at the peak of the Weapon Master realm, while everyone else has just broken through. If you wished to, you could kill everyone easily."

"What’s the point of doing all this? Is it some kind of strange hobby?"

Although Liora had heard that some powerful beings enjoyed toying with mortals and weaker people, it was the first time she had encountered such a situation in person.

Moreover, the person who did it was not a thousand-year-old monster or some kind of extraordinary being, but a man who looked to be in his early twenties.

While Liora was sighing that this world was dangerous for naive people, the face of the frail man below displayed several different emotions.

Shock, surprise, apprehension, and a hint of fear. Most importantly, a well-hidden trace of excitement.

Obviously, in that split second, the man had thought of a myriad things and constructed countless plans.

"My lord! My lord! Don’t kill me!"

"Aren’t you curious about the Demon God’s Cemetery and the Ruins? Although my strength is not strong enough to help you, I am very knowledgeable about ancient history."

"I don’t want to brag, but I’m the greatest historian of our time. Even those Demon Saints and Demon Sovereigns don’t know as much as I."

Hearing his pleas of mercy and his introduction, Liora recovered from her thoughts.

She stared at the frail man for a few seconds, and, just when he was beginning to become fearful, nodded her head.

"I can see that you’re very talented indeed."

"You should follow me for the rest of the journey in the Demon God’s Cemetery...", Liora said, and with a thought, the mangled bones not far away flew in front of her.

Under the control of her consciousness, the bones slowly merged together and clicked in place, transforming into a small skeleton.

Before the frail man could understand what was going on, his head was placed on top of the skeleton’s shoulders.

Following the flash of a golden light, his head and the skeleton were seamlessly attached.

"Okay. Let’s go in.", Liora slapped him on the back, sending him flying into the building.

Then, hearing no painful scream and sensing no particularly great danger, she also walked in.

--

The interior of the Ruin was many times larger than it seemed from the outside.

Although it was just its entrance, the room the two found themselves in stretched for hundreds of meters.

The moment she stepped in, Liora sensed a chilling, murderous intent flying in the air.

The fragmented weapons, the broken corpses, and the traces of battle all over the walls and the floor suggested that a bloody battle had occurred in this place.

The frail man quickly recovered from his current undead-like state and rose to his feet.

He surveyed the room with curiosity before he approached one of the corpses and leaned down.

Staring at the insignia on its chest and seeing the weapon lying on the ground, he couldn’t help but exclaim:

"It seems that the rumors are true. The battle back then must have been very sudden, and people were not prepared."

"Even the Divine Army had no time to move out. They were attacked directly in their military base and forced to fight here."

His words seemed unintentional, but piqued Liora’s interest. She felt that it was indeed the right decision not to kill this guy.

"Do you know how the Demon God’s Cemetery was formed? Was it a war between the nine Divine Clans and the so-called Divine Army?", she questioned as she rummaged through the room.

Her words did not make the frail man suspect her identity. After all, this was a piece of ancient history, one that ordinary people would find difficult to encounter.

Even most Demon Saints did not know what happened back then, much less a mere Weapon Master.

Of course, this excluded him, the greatest historian that ever lived!

Thinking of this, the frail man raised his head with undisguised pride, and as if he were teaching his young student, explained:

"You’re not entirely wrong. The nine Divine Clans were indeed one of the parties involved in that war and the ones that started it."

Saying this, he paused, shook his head briefly, and continued:

"However, you’re also mistaken."

"The Divine Army is merely one of the forces under the other party’s command. And not a very strong one for that matter."

"Among the Nine Halls back then, the Divine Army..."

Just as Liora thought that he was going to reveal some great secret, the frail man paused once again.

His mouth shut as his gaze alternated between the broken corpse and Liora.

Although he didn’t say anything, Liora could guess his implicit meaning. After a moment, she nodded her head and gave him her approval.

A smile appeared on the frail man’s face, as if he had emerged victorious in the battle of wits between them.

Looking at the corpse, the smile remained etched on his face as a golden light shot out of his head.

It landed on the corpse and began devouring it piece by piece, like a bunch of maggots swallowing their prey.

As a result, blood and flesh began growing along his skeletal body.

They wove together, building a body based on the skeleton and helping the frail man recover.

"You’re too young after all... I might have been scared of you if you had killed me on the spot."

"But you wish to use me? Hehe."

"I want to see which of us will leave the cemetery alive...", the frail man chuckled inwardly, feeling that his encounter with Liora might not have necessarily been a bad thing.

If he handled the situation well, he might emerge as the final victor of the Demon God’s Cemetery this time.

Just when he was finding it increasingly difficult to contain his mocking smile, however, the frail man sensed something amiss.

Not with Liora, nor with the Ruin. Instead, he sensed something strange happening in his own body.

With apprehension, he couldn’t help but lower his head. The next moment, a blood-curdling scream echoed in the barracks.

"Nooo!"
