Chapter 406 — Consuming the Reincarnation Fruit

Liora’s mind seemed to have been infinitely elevated, able to stretch into previously unknown spaces.

The dark void housing the third trial and the stone tablet describing the Crimson Annihilation Technique shook in resonance with her.

As her body glowed softly, it illuminated the dark void, as if the scene of the world being created was reenacted.

Liora’s structure began to transform once again. For the 9th time in a short time.

Her cells were being rapidly rearranged, merging as if they were Devil Runes forming an array, enhancing both her physical strength and her talent in the process.

A moment later, a thunderous bang echoed. The phenomena surrounding Liora gradually retreated and the scene returned to normal in the blink of an eye.

Yet, this didn’t mean that everything that had happened earlier was an illusion.

As Liora opened her eyes, a look of exhaustion flashed in her pupils.

But at the same time, her excitement was hard to conceal.

"The 9th level has finally been completed. Only the last level remains before this technique is mastered...", she muttered in a low voice while checking her current state.

It had been several decades since she had stepped into the third trial. At least for her.

During this time, she had been fully focused on practicing the Crimson Annihilation Technique, without even taking a break to rest for a moment.

This put a heavy toll on her mind. But the results were self-evident.

Not only had her physical strength improved significantly, allowing her to battle against True Spirit Greater Devils based on her physical body, but her will had also been tempered and undergone another transformation.

As such, after Liora mastered the 8th level, she was able to quickly practice the 9th one without an issue, at a speed beyond her previous predictions.

"Unfortunately, this is the last such time this happens. If I wish to master the 10th level, I’ll either have to slowly practice it while taking breaks from time to time, or find a way to improve my will."

Liora estimated that mastering the 10th level would require as much time as it took her to master all the previous levels combined.

Such a speed was impressive, far surpassing the requirements that the third trial had set.

However, Liora was not too happy with this result.

"The person behind the earlier changes in the inheritance palace is till there, albeit hidden."

"Although they haven’t made a move since I entered this stage, this doesn’t mean that I’m safe just yet."

"I can’t bet on their mercy or their inability to target me.", Liora thought.

"Even if they don’t dare to target me, this doesn’t mean that they can’t hurt my companions."

Liora did not worry about Assira, faintly guessing that this person was more dangerous than she appeared and possessed several trump cards.

However, Alpha was not as strong. Even if Liora had previously given her a few treasures for protection, she would still face danger if she had to face the hidden enemy.

Thinking of this, the traces of hesitation in Liora’s eyes quickly vanished.

Her consciousness dove into the Space Orb and she took an item out.

It was a glowing fruit, the treasure she had obtained after breaking the first formation within the maze.

It was the Reincarnation Fruit, a precious treasure whose main function was to strengthen one’s soul.

Liora had originally wished to save this and consume it once she obtained a soul-related Greater Devil Technique.

However, faced with the situation at hand, she knew that she had to make a choice.

Liora observed the fruit in her hand for a few seconds, seemingly engrossed in its beauty. Its colors swirled across her crimson pupils, with white and gray occupying most of its brilliance.

Just when it seemed that Liora was enamored by it, she made a sudden move and tossed it into her mouth.

She then hastily closed her eyes. She watched silently as the Reincarnation Fruit split into two sources of energy and merged with her.

One part poured into her body, while the part containing 80% of the energy, flowed into her soul space.

Or to be more accurate, into her soul seated in the dark void.

Liora felt her mind become confused.

Her eyelids became increasingly heavy, and she found it difficult to keep her eyes open.

She didn’t panic.

After several attempts to wake up and discovering that she couldn’t, she accepted that this was the effect of the Reincarnation Fruit’s influence

Realizing this, she let the unknown power lull her into sleep.

In the final moments, her left shoulder fell off and a clone appeared beside her, tasked with keeping her safe.

At the same time, just before her consciousness was pulled away, an idea suddenly flashed across her mind.

Without hesitation, she began to operate the Crimson Annihilation Technique according to the route described in its 10th level.

A painful groan escaped her lips, as she found it hard to withstand the pain despite her strong determination.

Fortunately, she didn’t have to face the pain for long.

Only a split second after the pain first arrived, her consciousness was finally pulled away.

In the void within the third trial, only Liora’s physical body remained.

Its expression was serene and devoid of any emotions, as if it were an empty shell left by a cicada.

However, Liora’s clone, which stood right next to her, noticed something bizarre.

Despite not having any consciousness, this shell was operating the Crimson Annihilation Technique silently, as if practicing it had been engraved onto her instincts.

Instantly, the clone couldn’t help but nod its head in satisfaction.

Especially when it felt the rate at which the main body made progress, she couldn’t help but think that she had made the right bet.

Devouring the Reincarnation Fruit not only granted her the advantages of consuming it, but the mindless, comatose state it had put her in actually accelerated her practice.

If everything went well, not only would Liora complete the 10th level, but she would achieve this way ahead of schedule.

Of course, although the clone made such a guess, the real Liora had not realized it just yet.

As her consciousness was driven to sleep, her connection with the clone had been severed. For the incoming time, she would only be able to rely on herself.
