Chapter 506 — Communication

Liora’s consciousness materialized in the Battle Arena, occupying the body constructed by the Information World.

Although her strength had improved significantly in the real world, her physical vessel simulating her body was still far from her real strength.

It possessed only the power of an ordinary Rank 2 Awakener.

"Fortunately, the Information World’s range is too vast, and its power has been divided. Otherwise, I’d never be able to fool it with my World of Heart."

While she was thinking, Liora responded to the question of the Battle Arena.

Soon, the familiar flicker took place in her field of vision, and she was transferred away.

A phantom emerged on the opposite side of the arena, while the familiar-looking score flashed above its head.

"Wins: 15. Defeats: 26. Rating: 1 Star"

Then, an exclamation she had heard several times.

"Huh? A newbie? It seems that I’m in luck today—Shhhk!"

Shortly after, Liora’s spells engulfed her opponent, transforming them into a stream of information under her casual blow.

Her score increased accordingly, while her Contribution Points rose by five hundred.

"The rewards of the Rank 2 Blood Arena are far better than those of the Rank 1. Just the reward for winning a battle has increased fivefold.", Liora nodded her head in satisfaction.

Still, she didn’t mull over this matter for long.

Without even needing to adjust her breathing, she communicated with the arena and challenged the next opponent.

Soon, the same sound of tearing flesh rang out.

The Rank 2 challengers finally faced the same horrifying fate as their Rank 1 counterparts.

--

Seated in a hidden location within the Information World, the War God stared at this scene and couldn’t help but feel speechless.

It didn’t take a genius to understand Liora’s goal.

Clearly, becoming the Rank 1 Guardian had far from stifled her ambitions.

Now that she had "advanced" to Rank 2, she was planning to challenge the Rank 2 Guardian as well.

"With her Domain, she indeed should be able to do so. However, she is too reckless...", he couldn’t help but shake his head.

"Doesn’t she know that being so high-profile will attract the attention of alien races? It’s fine for as long as she remains in the human territory, but if she leaves, or even worse, visits the extraterrestrial battlefields, she will be targeted by the enemy races.", the War God thought.

"She’s still too young... It seems that we older people have to step in and clean up the mess."

The War God couldn’t possibly let such a genius put herself in danger.

He had the responsibility to protect this student. Not only as the Dean of the War Academy, but also as one of the leaders of the human race.

In his view, Liora was bound to become a future pillar of the Human Federation.

With that thought, the War God’s mind moved.

Streams of information flowed from his hands, shooting towards the Blood Arena and its challengers.

He didn’t request Liora to stop; instead, he prepared to erase the evidence that it was happening, going as far as to alter the memories of the challengers she had defeated.

Yet just as he was about to put his thoughts into action, a ringing sound echoed.

A message had arrived.

Faintly surprised, the War God opened it.

Instantly, a blue screen materialized in front of him, depicting a scene.

It was a research facility.

A petite young woman in a white research robe stood before a workbench, tinkering with an unfinished project.

She didn’t go through the trouble of raising her head to look at the "camera", but remained slightly hunched.

Despite this, the War God recognized her immediately.

He didn’t scold her for her disrespectful behavior, but instead questioned calmly.

"Anna, what do you want? Unless it’s something urgent, please call me later. I’m currently occupied with something—"

Before he could finish his sentence, a blue glow emerged from the young woman’s hands and flowed into the rare materials she was holding.

They quickly began to transform, seemingly evolving into a bizarre mechanical creation.

The woman, however, did not pay any attention to this process.

"Are you planning to erase Liora’s traces? There is no need to go out of your way to protect her. Let her do as she wishes.", she stated, her voice devoid of emotions like the AI Assistants Liora had previously met.

The contents of her words revealed a lot.

At least, it let the War God know that Anna had been paying attention to Liora and monitoring her actions.

With his intelligence, he was quickly able to figure things out.

"Are you the reason why I can’t access certain information about her past?"

"Indeed. Such a genius cannot appear out of nowhere. Were you involved in her growth?"

Despite not raising her head, Anna nodded briefly before shaking her head. She paused, planning to think of what words to use when the War God suddenly interrupted her.

"It doesn’t matter.", he said.

"It is my duty as the Dean of the War Academy and a member of the Human Federation to protect humanity’s geniuses. I don’t care what your relationship with this student is."

"I can’t watch as you put such a genius in danger. Even if you were her mother, I would stop you."

His words were expected by Anna.

She didn’t rush to refute them but paused again for a brief moment.

Then, she shook her head, a rare trace of emotion flashing within her eyes.

"War God, you should understand the predicament of the current Human Federation even better than I. So what if she is a genius? If she doesn’t grow up, she will ultimately die with the rest of them."

"We don’t have the time to slowly cultivate this era’s geniuses. Only by letting them experience the pressure of life-and-death and thus helping them unleash their potential, can we give them a chance to grow up."

"It’s already too late to use normal means."

Saying this, her movements stopped, as if she had reached a critical point in her experiment.

Moments later, she continued.

"Not only do I need you not to erase her traces, but I also ask you to refrain from giving her an easy or even ordinary Trial. I already have a suitable mission to arrange for her. This is it.", she said, sending a message over the Information World.

The War God’s eyes narrowed as he went through its contents. He wanted to say something and try to convince her, but he ultimately swallowed his words.

He sighed.

"You’re right. There is not much time left...", he muttered and shook his head regretfully before severing the communication line.
