Chapter 728 — Real and Fake

Divine Emperor!

Liora had interacted with this person frequently, having ruined many of his plans.

Even the Kingdom of God power system, which had helped her greatly and was the key to her becoming an Ancient Devil, was the result of her encounters with this being.

In Liora’s eyes, this person was extremely mysterious, perhaps even more so than ordinary Rank 13 Awakeners.

As such, ever since learning of his existence, she had always been apprehensive, searching for any clues about him.

So far, she had failed to find anything.

It seemed as though he had disappeared from the world and had long since left the Cosmic Universe.

It was only after Liora gained control of the Cosmic Universe that she was finally able to find his current location.

However, she had never expected that this mysterious powerhouse had been right beside her all this time.

Janna!

This girl, now a woman, who had been introduced to Liora by the War God, was actually the Divine Emperor’s reincarnation.

This made Liora sigh.

"It’s already surprising to be able to disperse your strength and lose your memories in order to reincarnate. The risk is already too great."

"Choosing to do so as the opposite gender is even more shocking."

Upon further thought, however, Liora felt that it made sense.

For beings of their level, doing anything that could increase their strength or ensure their survival was possible.

Faced with the Era’s destruction, the Divine Emperor was obviously ready to gamble.

Liora didn’t think much of it. Or rather, she didn’t need to think much at the moment.

Her focus shifted back to reality. More precisely, back to Janna.

After she had integrated with the faith body, the slumbering will in the depths of Janna’s soul seemed to have awakened.

The memories of the Divine Emperor fused with hers, causing her to shed her original clueless appearance.

However, based on the shock and panic Janna displayed afterward, it was obvious that she could recognize Liora.

"Is it because of fusing with the Divine Emperor’s faith body? Or do you have a method to monitor the Cosmic Universe even while slumbering?" Liora whispered.

Soon, she shook her head.

"It doesn’t matter. Since you’re here, the result will be the same."

The moment these words fell, Liora calmly stretched out her hand.

Under her control, the power of the Cosmic Universe was stirred.

An illusory river appeared right in front of her, and her hand reached inside.

Countless timelines flashed before her eyes. Most of them were possibilities of the future, while some contained the history of the past.

For Ancient Devils, changing the past required them to pay a heavy price, as shown by the Hollow Ancestor.

But for Liora, she didn’t have to fear anything.

The Cosmic Universe was equivalent to a Princess of the Demon World.

And she, its controller, carried the same authority.

The River of Time and the Origin Sea would no longer punish her!

"Since the War God helped me greatly in the past, I’ll repay the karma I owe him today," Liora muttered.

The next moment, her hand began to stir the river.

Her mind dove through the timelines, focusing on the moment of Janna’s birth.

Just like Liora’s own reincarnation, an invisible light emerged from the sky, integrating with the newly born baby.

This light carried the Divine Emperor’s will, making her his reincarnation!

As long as Janna’s strength reached the level set before his death, she would directly obtain all his memories and power.

But now, this had changed.

Faced with the descending light, Liora calmly stretched her hand.

Her two fingers wrapped around the light, and she held it in place.

Although the will inside tried to struggle, it had no chance of resisting.

Moments later, the will fell into slumber, and the golden light was put away by Liora.

Without the Divine Emperor’s involvement, an ordinary soul was born within the newly born baby that was Janna.

Seeing this, Liora nodded in satisfaction, knowing that Janna was no longer his reincarnation.

However, she understood that her interference would directly change the future if she left things like this.

Therefore, Liora began altering the timelines from this point onward as well.

Janna was not the Divine Emperor after all.

Her actions would sometimes be different than those of his reincarnation.

Whenever the new Janna’s actions began to differ from those in Liora’s "true" timeline, Liora would directly guide them back to the "normal" development.

In Liora’s mind, only a split second had passed.

Yet the entire history from Janna’s birth to the present had been altered.

Finally, Liora’s hand stopped moving. Her consciousness returned to reality, and the illusory river disappeared.

She was still sitting in the same mansion as before. Still facing the same person.

Yet the pure terror in Janna’s eyes had unknowingly vanished.

Only surprise and admiration remained, both addressed to Liora.

She didn’t know that, unknowingly, the soul occupying her body had changed.

From her point of view, everything had always been like this.

Noticing the clueless gaze in Janna’s eyes, Liora was both excited and terrified.

She understood that changing Janna’s life was not the limit of her ability. If Liora wanted, directly altering the life of an Ancient Devil was possible as well.

Perhaps only those at the pinnacle of that stage, those who had traced their timelines back to the Absolute Beginning, had a small chance of resisting.

"Sure enough, the stronger one becomes, the greater the gap between the stages grows."

"Although a Lesser Devil is weaker than a True Devil and can be easily killed, the gap can be bridged if one is talented enough."

"Talented Greater Devils might have a chance of escaping from an Archdevil."

"But in front of a Princess of the Demon World, any being that has not reached that level has no chance of resisting..."

Liora’s mind wandered.

From her point of view, every being below the Princess of the Demon World stage was not "real."

After all, when your entire life could be altered with a single thought, how can you be certain that the life you have lived till now is truly real?

Was this your life from the beginning, or merely the outcome a certain Prince of the Demon World wanted to obtain?

The more Liora thought about it, the more horrified she became.

Thankfully, unlike other beings, she didn’t have to worry about not being "real."

She could be almost certain that her life had not been altered by a Prince of the Demon World or even by beings beyond that.

As for the reason?

Because of the Evolution System’s existence!

With Liora’s current level, she already had a guess regarding what this system’s true form was! And in her opinion, there were only a few beings who could bypass it and influence her.
