Chapter 740 — Complete Suppression

Every attack coming from an Ancient Devil was accompanied by the power of time.

It was corrosive. Any creature weaker than them, or one that hadn’t come into contact with the River of Time, would quickly fall at a disadvantage.

Even someone as extraordinary as Liora had faced the same issue back then. Had it not been for the help of the Snake of Time technique, she would have perished instantly under the Hollow Ancestor’s assault.

Chaos Beasts were mindless, acting solely on instinct. It was obvious they were unable to comprehend the power of time, much less interact with the River of Time.

Yet when the two pairs of claws collided, the power of time coming from the Envy Avatar failed to seep through the Chaos Beast’s body.

The reason was simple. Liora immediately figured it out.

The beast’s sheer physical strength was enough to help it suppress the impact of the power of time.

This was shocking enough, proof of why this race was so feared.

Of course, Liora had no time to think about this.

The moment the Chaos Beast’s claws and the mimicked attack of the Envy Avatar met each other, a wave of destructive power spread in all directions.

Then...

"Roar!" A furious scream rang out.

The Chaos Beast was knocked back by the collision, sent flying through the Origin Sea.

Although the claw attack failed to injure it in the slightest, it was more than enough to make it furious.

And its anger translated directly into a massive increase in strength.

Before the Chaos Beast even showed signs of stabilizing its body, its figure had already disappeared.

It flashed behind Liora, its massive frame towering above her.

Then, it attacked with its claws from both sides.

At the same time, its tail flashed.

The gray flames on its tip flickered. Like the stinger of a scorpion, the tail thrust toward Liora’s back, aiming to reap her life.

Although its intelligence was lacking, the Chaos Beast’s survival instincts were more than enough to make up for this disadvantage.

Every movement, every action, everything it did was aimed at killing its opponent in the most precise and efficient way. Few opponents of the same stage could keep up with it.

Unfortunately for it, Liora was exactly one of these few people.

She reacted immediately.

The facial features of the mask on her face squirmed, settling into the appearance of a Devil with closed eyes.

A terrifying aura erupted from her body.

Although there was no physical attack, as though she had failed to notice her opponent, the Chaos Beast’s movements suddenly froze.

Its eyes became blank as its soul was struck by an invisible force, causing it to lose consciousness.

Sloth Avatar—a Sin Avatar that granted Liora terrifying soul-attacking abilities.

Seeing that her opponent was briefly stunned, she didn’t give it a chance to recover.

The mask moved again.

This time, the Wrath Avatar emerged.

Unlike the other Sin Avatars, which possessed bizarre conceptual abilities, the function of the Wrath Avatar was simple: it could directly enhance the power of its user’s next attack.

Thus, when Liora waved her hand as though it were a sword and swung it toward the Chaos Beast, an unexpected amount of force erupted.

A soul-stirring tearing sound echoed.

The Chaos Beast’s claws were easily torn apart, revealing the bare bones beneath its hued skin.

Although the Origin Sea resonated with the chaotic patterns along its surface, giving birth to gray flames that attempted to help it recover, the Chaos Beast had already fallen into a great disadvantage.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Liora attacked again and again.

She neither used the Cosmic Universe nor any other of her abilities.

She only circulated the Primordial Sin Art, switching between the different Sin Avatars and testing their respective abilities.

Despite restraining herself, the Chaos Beast was completely suppressed by her assault.

Again and again, it was hit. Injuries rapidly accumulated on its body.

Only a few minutes later, an agonizing cry rang out, full of unwillingness and resentment.

The Chaos Beast roared fiercely and collapsed to the ground, its eyes lifeless and its body devoid of vitality.

From the beginning of the battle until its death, it had been unable to pose any danger to Liora.

Unbeknownst to everyone, an Antiquity Devil-level creature had unknowingly perished here!

Even Liora was somewhat surprised, feeling that she might have underestimated herself.

"This Chaos Beast was already able to exchange blows with Primordial Devils, without falling at an immediate disadvantage."

"For me to suppress it while only using the Primordial Sin Art, my overall combat prowess should be stronger than that of an ordinary Primordial Devil..." Liora thought.

"Of course, I should still be far from an Absolute Beginning Devil," she added.

While estimating her strength, Liora collected the spoils of this battle.

The Chaos Beast’s soul was directly devoured, while its corpse was put away.

Whether it was used as a resource or traded with other Ancient Devils, this thing would be useful in the future.

However, that was a matter for later.

At the moment, there was something else that required Liora’s attention.

The Chaos Beast’s appearance had piqued her interest.

Her previous experiences had taught her that such creatures were rarely alone. Where there was one Chaos Beast, there were bound to be more hidden nearby.

Thinking of this, she decided to investigate.

Her mind stirred.

The Throne at the banks of the River of Time was immediately activated, causing her vision to shift.

As though she had traveled back through time, the illusory figure of the Chaos Beast appeared in her eyes.

The previous battle was quickly reenacted, though it was now alone.

Then, the Chaos Beast’s figure began moving backward, disappearing into the depths of the world cluster.

Liora chased after it, the curiosity in her eyes obvious.

She was interested to see where this Chaos Beast had come from.

More importantly, she wanted to know if it had any "companions" and how strong they were.

If they were powerful enough to threaten her, she would leave immediately.

If they were weak, however...

Liora’s eyes flashed.
