Chapter 1156 — Book 2: Chapter 353: Nameless (4)
16 min read ·
Choi Sun Hee, the President of Sun ©, chose to remain silent for a moment.
Cale Henituse.
He had asked her two questions.
‘Where is the official residence of the president?’
First.
‘Has Sun © ever invested in Transparent © before? Or, is it possible to secretly contact someone related to it?’
Second.
The meaning behind the second question was clear.
Choi Sun Hee answered both questions and the three humans who heard her answer remained silent for a moment.
The first to speak was Alberu Crossman, the person that the Sun God told Choi Sun Hee to ‘take good care of him and do whatever he asks.’
“I heard that the Transparent Corporation doesn’t take any external investments.”
"That is correct. They do not want any external interference in the creation and operation of the game.”
There were billions of people playing the game.
Furthermore, even people who did not play the game were enjoying ‘Raising my very own precious omnipotent god’ in different ways.
All sports…
All entertainment…
Even gambling.
Nothing was able to surpass the influence of RPOG right now.
In fact, sports, entertainment, gambling, all these happened within RPOG or with different connections to RPOG.
“Many companies and even countries wanted to expand their influence in RPOG but the Transparent Corporation does not want that.”
A company or country that controls RPOG could rile up or coerce over a billion people.
However, the Transparent Corporation did not allow that sort of meddling.
“Only the game. RPOG’s persistence to focus only on that is generating quite a bit of goodwill with the people.”
“So the Transparent Corporation's image is good-”
Cale opened his mouth as Alberu mumbled those words.
“But rejecting everything like that is probably not good for Transparent © either?”
RPOG currently had a lot of influence on Earth but if they showed a lot of ostracizing external groups in their growth…
‘It should have made it difficult for them before they succeeded.’
Cale looked back toward Secretary Choi.
“You are right, Cale-nim.”
She nodded her head.
"That is why the Transparent © does accept ‘ads.’”
“Ads-”
“Yes. As long as the amount can be agreed upon, they are willing to advertise different companies and countries of Earth inside RPOG.”
The method was so stealthy that a lot of users did not even notice.
“That’s how they keep their connections?”
“Yes. They do not ostracize themselves from different governments and companies.”
Rosalyn chimed in at that moment.
“I don’t think it is that simple.”
An odd smile was on Rosalyn’s face as she sat on the couch staring at the ceiling.
“There are faction fights inside RPOG right now. I'm sure a lot of users have countries or companies as their backing.”
“…That is correct.”
Secretary Choi slowly answered and a similar smile to Rosalyn's appeared on her face.
‘These people-
They don’t miss the true nature of things.’
“The Transparents have set the field, and in that field, who-, no…”
Rosalyn sounded as if she was speaking to herself.
“Even if a group or country takes control of the field and gains power… They will probably maintain a neutral stance and not interfere.”
"That is why the different major forces of Earth haven’t said much to the Transparents but are stealthily or even openly trying to increase their influence in RPOG.”
Alberu finished Rosalyn's thoughts.
Choi Sun Hee nodded her head.
“RPOG's New World is basically a new Earth.”
Click click.
Choi Sun Hee moved next to Cale.
She placed her hand on the glass wall.
“Earth 3 has now survived through the attack of the monsters, however… For a while, no, for a couple decades, we had to go through a painful time because of the attacks of these mysterious monsters.”
The odd machines releasing steam in between the much more developed science and technology…
These were all things created for safety, the evidence of a new Earth surviving through it all.
"Those monsters still do appear every so often, but… Anyway, humans can handle and block these monsters now.”
Earth 1 and 2…
This place was different from the world Kim Rok Soo lived in or the world Cale experienced.
“That is why we can say we won. But it did not bring back the things that were destroyed and have disappeared through the time.”
"For such people, a beautiful ‘New World’ was created.”
Secretary Choi nodded her head at Rosalyn’s comment.
“Yes. People had no choice but to be sucked into that beautiful world.”
The developed Roan outside the glass was beautiful, but…
Scars still remained in people's hearts.
Scars that could not be erased, pain and sorrow… These things remained all around Earth.
That was the reason people got so absorbed into the RPOG world.
“A new battlefield was created for the people in power.”
Alberu responded to that.
"A battlefield…. It is not just a regular battlefield either. It is a Virtual Reality battlefield that doesn’t influence the real world at all.”
"That is correct.”
Choi Sun Hee wanted to tell these three foreigners about RPOG.
To these ‘regular people’ As well as what kind of existences the ‘people in power’ were in this world.
Tap. Tap.
Alberu sat on a soft and luxurious chair in front of the desk before gently tapping on the table.
“Cale.”
“Yes, your highness.”
“Don’t you think the Transparent Bloods are the reason this world was not significantly damaged by monsters and survived?”
……!
Choi Sun Hee's eyes opened wide.
‘What are they saying right now?
Our world was not significantly damaged?’
However, she did not say anything.
“The reason monsters appeared on the different Earths and destroyed them was because the Hunters received the help of the Demon World.”
Everything was done for the Hunters to create despair for the sealed god, the God of Despair.
Creating hell on the multiple Earths was just one of their methods.
"The Transparent Bloods chose to develop here. They also planned to use the skills of this world to create New World. As such, they would not have been able to destroy Earth 3.”
“And right on cue, the new White Star's plan, the plan to awaken the sealed god was ruined.”
Alberu had a twisted smile on his face as he looked at Cale.
‘You did that.’
Cale didn't even look at the smile that seemed to be saying those words.
Instead, he looked outside the window.
“The Hunters. There should be no more reason for them to cause pain in Earth 3 with monsters anymore.”
Instead, RPOG's New World…
They would try to protect Earth 3 until that new world turned from Virtual Reality to a true new world.
“Yeah. But I'm sure that there are many reasons monsters they can handle still do appear every so often.”
Whether it was to advertise the peace inside New World…
Or to instill a sense of wariness or anxiety about Earth 3…
They were probably maintaining the attacks because there were benefits to doing so.
Alberu had those thoughts as he asked Cale.
“It looks like you should contact the punks on the other Earth?”
“It does seem that way, your highness.”
If Earth 3's monsters had decreased…
Cale was curious about the condition of Earth 2.
“It’s been a while, but it looks like you’ll need to contact them.”
“Yes, your highness. It has been a while.”
It truly had been a while.
Cale had always had a way to contact them starting with the cintamani, however…
He did not have many reasons to use it.
The other Earth’s Choi Jung Soo and Lee Soo Hyuk…
These two, who were different from Sui Khan and Choi Jung Soo working with the gods after their deaths, how would they be living?
Would peace have arrived there as well?
Cale started to speak before he fell deep into thought.
“Anyway, Transparent © ‘s honorary chairman should have quite the power here.”
“Yes sir. He is quite popular as well.”
“Hooo.”
Alberu asked as if he was amused.
“He must do a lot of good deeds as well?”
“Yes sir. He sends large donations to places damaged by the appearances of the monsters. His popularity is quite high, especially in Roan.”
The Honorary Chairman of Transparent ©.
“He created a large conglomerate and does good deeds. Furthermore, the image of him shown in the media is extremely cheerful.”
Transparent © was a business started in Roan.
The people of Roan couldn’t help but be proud of it.
“The current Chairman is the son of the Honorary Chairman and his abilities have yet to be fully accepted. The Honorary Chairman, as the first Chairman, is the one people prefer quite a bit.”
“That is why his win is basically guaranteed if he runs?”
“Yes sir.”
Choi Sun Hee calmly delivered the information she had.
“The current President, Ahn Roh Man, is someone who put in a lot of effort to overcome Earth 3's crisis.”
Ahn Roh Man was an amazing person.
“He is a skilled warrior and a strategist.”
A lot of people respected him.
"But people-”
Choi Sun Hee stopped without finishing the sentence.
She wondered if it was okay to say this.
Alberu spoke the words she was thinking as she spent that instant debating it.
“They want peace.”
“…That is correct.”
Ahn Roh Man was a great person.
His personal sacrifices had been immense.
“There are a lot of people saying that Ahn Roh Man has already been President for three terms and doesn't need that fourth and final term. But most importantly-”
The majority opinion-
“In a world that has achieved peace, they don’t want any traces of war left behind.”
Ahn Roh Man was proof of their past.
"The future. People want a future that will raise the national culture and identity of Roan. The people want someone who will raise the strength of Roan.”
Rosalyn answered with a bitter smile on her face.
“He’s basically like a forgotten hero-”
“Rather than being forgotten, he has received quite a bit in these three terms. It is just that people do not want him for the future. He is amazing, but they see the Honorary Chairman as an even more amazing person.”
Raon cautiously asked Cale in his mind.
– Human, but isn’t the Transparent © Ahn Roh Man's enemies because of his parents?
‘Yeah.
It’s just that people don’t know about it.’
– Ahn Roh Man must be super angry! If he loses his position to his bitter enemies, the people who caused his parents to die…! I will destroy everything!
Raon was probably right about Ahn Roh Man being extremely frustrated right now.
Losing the position to someone should be fine, but to lose it to the Transparent © was probably like a terrible nightmare.
And if he truly gave so much for Roan to the point that people all knew about his sacrifices, that frustration was probably even worse.
Cale’s mouth opened again.
“Secretary Choi-nim.”
“Yes sir.”
“What is the name of the Honorary Chairman?”
‘Ah.’
Secretary Choi slightly bowed her head and answered almost apologetically.
“I will soon organize all of the information we have on the Transparent © and send it up.”
She then quickly answered Cale’s question.
“The Honorary Chairman. His name is Han Taek Soo.”
All of them turned toward Cale again.
This was enough scoping out the situation.
“You said that the residence was in that direction?”
The important thing was what they could do on this playing field.
Cale looked toward the Northwest before lowering his head.
He then took a look at himself.
“Mm. I think this outfit will not work.”
He was dressed in a way that would work in Aipotu or the Roan Kingdom.
But people here would think he was cosplaying as a RPOG character.
He asked Secretary Choi for help.
“It would be great if we could have three formal attires.”
Secretary Choi answered as if it was obvious.
“Everything that the three of you may need has been prepared in this building.”
Not only three formal attires but everything they would need to adapt to Earth was already prepared.
“You're the best.”
“Thank you.”
Cale addressed the group.
“Shall we get changed and head out?”
* * *
“Here is an analysis of the potential voter breakdown.”
Ahn Roh Man threw the document his aide offered him on the table.
Tap.
Ahn Roh Man looked through it before speaking.
“I'm behind.”
“…Yes sir.”
His numbers would probably get worse as time passed by.
“How is the ruling party reacting?”
“…….”
The aide lowered her head without saying anything.
Ahn Roh Man scoffed.
“I guess those old bastards are probably doing whatever they can to latch onto Transparent's Han Taek Soo right now.”
“…Mm.”
Ahn Roh Man asked the silent aide a question with a serious look on his face.
“Have the trends changed?”
Ahn Roh Man and the aide were the only ones here right now.
“Speak freely.”
The aide finally broke her silence and answered.
“…Unless there is a significant variable, I think it would be difficult to stop Han Taek Soo.”
Ahn Roh Man clenched his eyes shut.
“The large-scale update will soon finish and significant changes will happen in RPOG. As you are already aware, the entire world is excitedly anticipating it.”
“Pfft.”
Ahn Roh Man scoffed before the aide could finish and wiped his face with his hands.
“There are quite a lot of bastards trying to raise their own kingdom in that New World battlefield.”
Whether countries or companies… They were all aiming for New World.
It was a new means of generating money or gaining power.
They were doing this because they believed that New World had gotten too big for even the Transparent © to handle.
‘Too big for the Transparent © to handle?’
They were just pretending that was the case.
Ahn Roh Man knew better than anybody else that the Transparent © had full control over New World.
“The people know. They know the true owner of that battlefield.”
“The Honorary Chairman. It’s Han Taek Soo. That is why the people of Roan want Han Taek Soo?”
“It is rare to find people saying no to new land.”
“I guess… That’s true.”
New World was now another Earth offering the people a burdenless new life.
“…….”
The silent Ahn Roh Man slowly looked toward the aide and spoke.
“Hey Mary.”
“ …Yeah. Oppa.”
The sighing aide, Mary, took her glasses off and pushed her eyes to massage them.
Ahn Roh Man looked at her and asked.
This was the only person he could trust.
“Is it difficult for me to win?”
“…There are two variables you can create.”
Mary did not say that he could not win.
She wasn't that fun of a person because she spoke in a monotone voice, but she had never been wrong.
"There are two variables?”
“First. You take down the Transparent © right now.”
“Do you think that is possible?”
Mary did not say it because it was possible.
That was why she said the second variable.
“If not then, then did you receive the K.Q.?”
“…….”
Mary, who knew that Ahn Roh Man was the number one ranker in the game, continued despite receiving no response.
“Ahn Roh Man, the hero who saved Roan and Earth. The hero that people have forgotten about becomes a hero once again in New World.”
“Is that your answer?”
“It is the variable that I can come up with.”
A variable was needed to create a new current.
They needed to change the playing field first.
“Oppa, you know it too. You can’t just ignore New World as a game anymore. New World is a different Earth now. The people escaped from the monsters and have become slaves to New World.”
Getting past the monsters that bothered Earth and Roan in the past to this New World that offered them new fantasies and joy…
People were now heading toward the future.
“…Nothing seems to be going right.”
Ahn Roh Man sighed before asking Mary for some time to be alone.
“Let me think about it.”
Mary nodded her head and left the office.
“…….”
Ahn Roh Man was left alone in the office.
He clenched his eyes shut.
‘Seriously, nothing is going right.’
Two variables.
He knew of a key to make that happen.
The Transparent ©.
He knew of a group trying to take down the Transparent Corporation.
As for the Kingdom Quest?
That as well-
‘Alberu Crossman-’
The moment he thought about someone’s name…
Piiiiiiiiiiii– piiiiiii-!
The alarm on the office desk started to react.
“Alarm triggered.”
The machine on the desk started speaking.
“Detected unauthorized intruders. Defense 0 has been destroyed.”
Clunk.
Ahn Roh Man stood up.
His face stiffened.
The President’s residence.
This place had a total of ten defense systems. However, none of the ten had been activated until now.
It had not sent any warnings or errors.
Just one…
The secret defense system that nobody other than Ahn Roh Man and Mary knew about…
Defense 0.
That had just detected intruders.
That meant that the intruders had gotten past the ten defense systems with no issues and reached this defense.
‘As for this Defense 0… This system-’
“…The office.”
The office that Ahn Roh Man was in right now. This defense was set around just this office.
Ahn Roh Man turned his head.
Click.
The window opened.
“Oh.”
He heard a man let out a surprised noise.
“You’re not surprised? I guess you were waiting for us?”
The red-haired man wearing a formal suit smiled as he walked in.
From head to toe… This man was dressed in the most expensive brands but he seemed quite familiar with jumping through a window.
“It’s our first time meeting in person.”
A blond-haired blue-eyed handsome man came through the window next.
He was also wearing a clean suit and looked extremely similar to Ahn Roh Man.
“Please accept our apology for visiting without notice.”
The last to come in was a woman with bright red hair and matching red eyes.
Red mana fluctuated around her.
The three of them were all wearing black formal attire despite the brands and designs being different.
Click.
Once she entered the room as well…
Ahn Roh Man opened his mouth.
“I checked the location of Taerang.”
Alberu could not enter the game because of the update, but he found it weird that he could not connect with Taerang at all. As such, he had checked on Taerang's location.
"But I saw that Taerang was here.”
He couldn’t tell Taerang's exact location, but… He had been certain it was on Earth 3.
Furthermore, that it was in Roan's capital.
“So I naturally thought that you would come to see me.”
Ahn Roh Man smiled gently.
The blond-haired handsome man, Alberu, smiled elegantly back.
“Yeah. But I don’t think we will need to come here next time.”
Alberu continued to smile as he spoke.
“You won’t be here next time.”
“…….”
The smile disappeared from Ahn Roh Man's face.
‘There was no place for Ahn Roh Man in the President’s residence.’
That was what Alberu had said.
And Ahn Roh Man could not say anything back.
However, Alberu was still smiling elegantly.
“Now then, shall we talk?”
Cale cheekily interjected into their conversation.
“Let’s have some tea too. What do you think?”
As Cale cheekily commented…
"Americano. That thing was addictive.”
Rosalyn calmly added on before heading over to the couch and sitting down.
