Chapter 1696 — Chapter 1696 Yuan's Opponent

After being teleported, Yuan found himself surrounded by darkness, almost as if he'd returned inside the Infinite Spiraling Abyss.

However, oddly enough, he was able to see his opponent clearly.

"Hahaha! What luck!" His opponent, a red-headed man, laughed hysterically.

Yuan stared at his opponent with a calm gaze. This wasn't their first meeting.

"I can't believe I actually got matched with the Primal Monarch's son! How lucky!"

"Hellfire Dragon…" Yuan muttered with a slight smile on his face.

Hellfire Dragon was one of the Seven Dragon Monarchs as the Fire Dragon Monarch. He was someone nobody wanted as an opponent, especially for a deathmatch.

However, despite being matched with one of the strongest beings in Divine Dragon Sanctuary, Yuan wasn't even the least concerned. After all, his opponent specialized in fire.

'Fortunately, I visited the Eternal Phoenix Domain and acquired fire immunity before coming here.'

"Why are you staying silent? Are you despairing because you realized that you're doomed?" Hellfire Dragon taunted, appearing very confident.

"On the other hand, you talk too much. They say when one realizes they are screwed, they often become more chatty than usual to cope with their anxiety," Yuan sneered, wiping the smile off Hellfire Dragon's now enraged face.

"As I thought, I really don't like you, human."

The Hellfire Dragon wasted no time transforming into his true dragon form. Shedding his human appearance, he became a massive red dragon, his scales glowing like molten lava. His aura radiated such intense heat that the air around him twisted and shimmered from the scorching energy.

The Hellfire Dragon's aura was so powerful that it would have been enough to kill an ordinary Chaotic Commander. However, to Yuan, it was nothing more than a comfortable, lukewarm sensation, barely worth noticing.

"So what if you have godly talents? That shit will amount to nothing if you die an early death." Hellfire Dragon remarked. "You got greedy, human. If you hadn't participated in the Dragon God Festival, you would've become a powerful figure."

Yuan's face remained calm as he responded to his provocation, "Where is your confidence coming from?"

"Where?" Hellfire Dragon sneered.

"Right here!" He abruptly opened his mouth and spat a massive fireball at Yuan.

Despite seeing the ball of fire hurling at him, Yuan didn't move a muscle and silently stared at it. Once the fireball was close enough to touch him, Yuan extended a finger to poke at it. The moment his finger came into contact with the fireball, its heat and energy were absorbed.

"W-what?" Hellfire Dragon's eyes widened with shock after witnessing his fire being absorbed.

"Why do you look so flabbergasted? Did you think I only had two types of immunities? Unfortunately for you, I am also immune to fire."

"Since when?!" Hellfire Dragon roared.

"Since before I came to the Divine Dragon Sanctuary, obviously." Hellfire Dragon clenched his jaws tightly, his gaze so intense it could engulf an entire world in flames.

"So what if you're immune to fire? You're still just a human! I don't need my fire to kill someone like you!" The Hellfire Dragon started laughing.

"I heard that you almost died to Long Yejun even when he suppressed his cultivation. I am on the same level as Long Yejun if not a little stronger. There's nothing you can do to defeat me."

Yuan chuckled and said, "Brother Yejun is indeed very powerful. However, if I wanted to kill him during our spar, it wouldn't have been too difficult."

"You're bluffing!" Hellfire Dragon did not believe Yuan's claims for a second.

Not only was Yuan a mere Chaotic Master, but he was also human, who were inherently weaker than beasts. "Don't think you can rely on the Primal Monarch's power for everything! It won't work on someone like me!"

"I never intended on using the Primal Monarch's power, anyway."

Yuan suddenly retrieved a sword—a majestic sword that emitted an otherworldly aura.

"A sword?" Hellfire Dragon raised his eyebrows, looking surprised. However, it was not because he was worried.

"That tiny thing won't even scratch my scales, much less—"

In the midst of Hellfire Dragon's speech, Yuan's arm suddenly flickered, shooting a powerful sword light made of pure Enhanced Sword Qi at him.

Sha!

The sword light went right through Hellfire Dragon's right wing, cutting through his scales as if they were tofu.

A moment later, the Hellfire Dragon released a deafening roar, not out of pain, but from the overwhelming shame he felt after realizing one of his wings had been severed. The humiliation of such a blow stung more than any physical injury could.

"I will make you suffer a fate worse than death for this humiliation!" Hellfire Dragon released one last roar before charging at Yuan in his human form.

Meanwhile, their fight was being spectated by the onlookers who didn't participate in the Dragon God Festival. However, it wasn't just Yuan's fight that was being broadcasted. Every single fight was displayed for everyone to see.

Although Yuan's fight attracted some attention at first, they all went to watch another broadcast, one that had nearly the attention of every single onlooker at the moment.

This specific broadcast displayed Long Wu Qing's dominating performance as she brutally toyed with her opponent, which wasn't too surprising considering her unrivaled status.

However, what truly surprised the onlookers and initially captured their attention wasn't just Long Wu Qing's presence, but her opponent.

"What's wrong? Are you already giving up? It hasn't even been half a day since we started." Long Wu Qing provoked her opponent with a cold grin on her face.

"Shut up!" her opponent roared, their voice filled with fury. Their entire body was drenched in blood, open wounds covering nearly every inch of their skin. Meanwhile, Long Wu Qing appeared unscathed in comparison.

"What a pitiful sight." Long Wu Qing shook her head at the fully transformed dragon before her.

"Well, it's not like you ever had a chance in the first place—just as I said. Right, little brother?" Long Wu Qing remarked, her voice cold and condescending as she stared at Long Yejun with an eerily calm expression, unfazed by his bloodied state.
