Chapter 1742 — Chapter 1742 Rejoining the Celestial Overlords

"R-really?! You'll join the Celestial Overlords?!" Qiang Qing Yun immediately became ecstatic, feeling like she was floating in the heavens from bliss.

She had prepared to fight tooth and nail for Yuan, and she'd even prepared some treasures just in case. However, the recruitment had gone unexpectedly smoothly and without any hiccups.

"Um, before you celebrate, I have some conditions." Yuan suddenly said, halting her celebration.

Qiang Qing Yun became serious again and responded, "What is it? As long as it's not unreasonable, we can definitely make it work."

"First of all, I do not want anyone investigating my background."

"I can assure you that nobody from my group will investigate your background, but I cannot guarantee you the other groups won't, as my control over them is limited."

"As a matter of fact, I can say for sure that they'll try to investigate you, especially as your reputation increases within the faction.. However, I will still try my best to stop them if I find out."

Yuan nodded, "That is good enough for me. I understand that it's impossible to stop people from being nosy, and being investigated is inevitable."

"My second condition is that you have to restrict access to my location. I am aware that high-ranking members have access to the location of other members."

Qiang Qing Yun then responded, "I can definitely restrict certain ranks from accessing your location, but I cannot block everyone, such as other Celestial Overlords."

"As for my final condition… Well, this isn't really a condition but a request. If other members from opposing groups were to cause trouble for me, I would like the authority to deal with them in an appropriate manner, regardless of their rank."

Qiang Qing Yun narrowed her eyes with a pondering face.

"Can you elaborate on what you deem as appropriate?" she inquired a few seconds later.

"For example, if someone plots or has the intent to harm or kill me, I will be able to harm or kill them depending on the situation. In other words, an eye for an eye." Yuan gave a brief but straightforward explanation.

"I see. If a member attacks you without justification, you are already allowed to retaliate without needing my authority. However, please refrain from killing anyone if possible, as that would make things more complicated."

"That's good."

"If that's all your conditions, I will give you the Celestial Overlords' symbol now."

"If that's all your conditions, I will give you the Celestial Overlords' symbol now."

Yuan nodded and extended his arm.

Not wanting to give Yuan another second to contemplate, Qiang Qing Yun swiftly gave Yuan the symbol.

"You are now an official member of the Celestial Overlords. Welcome aboard." Qiang Qing Yun showed him a bright and satisfied smile.

Yuan looked at the 'Apprentice' symbol on his hand and smiled, "Thank you for having me."

"To celebrate your acceptance, do you have any request? It's a rare opportunity to receive a Celestial Overlord's help, especially when they just joined the faction."

"Can I save it for later?" Yuan asked.

"Of course."

Qiang Qing Yun continued, "By the way, why did you come down to the lower heavens?"

"I was sent down by my family to hunt down some fugitive as a trial of sorts. Honestly, I don't really get it."

"I see. So you're also here for that individual. But didn't you hear? The Celestial Emperor has called off the search. Apparently that individual has been dealt with."

"What? Seriously? When did this happen?" Yuan asked with wide eyes.

"A few days ago. Most have already returned to the upper heavens."

Yuan laughed inwardly at this information, as this would make it easier for him to traverse the lower heavens without being noticed.

"In that case, I'll roam around the lower heavens for a bit before returning home. It's a rare opportunity for me to venture into the outside world, much less the lower heavens."

Sometime later, Qiang Qing Yun said, "If you don't have anything for me, I will leave you alone now—"

"Oh, here is a special present from me."

Qiang Qing Yun stepped forward and tapped Yuan on the forehead.

"This technique will help you hide your presence better," she said.

Sure enough, the moment Yuan activated the technique, the rest of the presence he couldn't hide disappeared magically.

Although it wasn't as perfect as Yingzi's complete lack of presence, Yuan could easily be mistaken as an ordinary cultivator. If he hid his presence even further, one could even mistaken him as a mortal.

"Thank you very much, Celestial Overlord Qiang."

"You can call me Senior Sister Qiang. I'll give you special permission."

"I understand, Senior Sister Qiang."

"Good. Then I will return to the upper heavens now. If you ever need me, you can contact me using this communication jade slip." Qiang Qing Yun handed Yuan a jade slip.

Under normal circumstances, only Overlords and those closely connected to her would be given a communication jade slip that allows one to contact her directly.

As of this moment, Yuan had direct access to two Celestial Overlords. This was something only a select few Overlords could brag about.

Before leaving, Qiang Qing Yun made sure to grab a few more bottles of wine from the restaurant.

Once Qiang Qing Yun had completely left and her presence could no longer be sensed, Kelan approached Yuan with a deep frown on his face.

"What is the meaning of this? Do you intend on betraying Celestial Overlord Xu?" he inquired.

Yuan sighed, "Are you being serious?"

He proceeded to explain his reasoning for accepting her invitation.

"I have already spoken to Senior Bai about this, and he also agreed to it. I would've told you sooner, but you were busy."

"You're essentially using Celestial Overlord Qiang as a cover, and you're acting like a spy. If she realizes this…" Kelan swallowed nervously when he couldn't even imagine her reaction.

"Then we better make sure she doesn't find out." Yuan calmly shrugged, leaving Kelan speechless.

"Fuck… you're really something else…" Kelan sighed in defeat.
