Chapter 1748 — Chapter 1748 Shadow Army Rank Structure

"Yes, it is exactly that Dragon King." Dong Ye confirmed, almost as if he could read Yuan's mind.

"In order to protect your identity from the Celestial Emperor, I had his memories, as well as everyone else involved with you, erased," he explained.

Yuan's eyes widened.

"So they don't remember our interactions during my previous visit?" Yuan asked for confirmation.

"No, they still remember. However, they won't be able to remember your face and the conversations you had, much like how people only have vague memories of their dreams after waking up." Dong Ye explained.

"However, if they see you again, there's a chance for them to recall everything."

"I see. In any case, I won't be going there as Yuan, so they won't remember."

Dong Ye nodded.

"Then until next time, my liege." Dong Ye bowed to Yuan before disappearing into thin air.

Shortly after Dong Ye disappeared, Yuan noticed two unfamiliar presences appearing near him.

"Are you the ones sent by Dong Ye?" Yuan muttered out loud.

The next moment, two figures appeared before Yuan, one knee touching the ground and their heads already lowered. "We greet the Lord."

"Introduce yourselves."

The first individual, a handsome young man with a tall, robust frame, tanned skin, and striking red eyes, spoke respectfully, "This loyal subject is called Yang. Although I am only a Shadow Reaper, I will do my utmost to support the Lord's every need."

Then, the other individual, a beautiful young woman with a tall, slender frame, similarly tanned skin, and red eyes, spoke with a tone of reverence, "This loyal subject is called Yin, also a Shadow Reaper. I exist solely to serve the Lord and support his ambitions."

"Yin and Yang, huh? Are you siblings?" Yuan then asked.

"Yes, we are twins." They responded simultaneously.

"Then, can you tell me about the Shadow Army? What does it mean to be a Shadow Reaper?"

Yang responded first, "There exists five ranks within the Shadow Army, each with a unique purpose. The first and lowest rank is Shadow Scout. They specialize in scouting and information gathering. The majority of the Shadow Army are Shadow Scouts."

Yin continued, "The second rank is Shadow Reaper. We specialize in tracking and assassination, but we are just as well-versed in information gathering as Shadow Scouts—if not better."

Yang spoke again, "Shadow Enforcer is the next rank. They are a special unit that specializes in completing high-risk missions."

Yin then said, "Shadow Commanders are in charge of training and overseeing the Shadows. There are only three Shadow Commanders in the Shadow Army."

"The last rank is Shadow Sovereign, reserved for a single person—Master Dong," finished Yang.

"How many members does the Shadow Army have?" Yuan asked a moment later.

"We apologize, but we cannot answer that question. However, it's not because you lack the authority. We just don't know the answer. Only Shadow Commanders and Master Dong know the exact number, so you'll have to ask one of them." Yin and Yang spoke perfectly in sync, almost as if they shared the same mind.

"Alright. In any case, I don't really need any assistance for now." Yuan said a moment later.

"If you ever need us, summon us with this." Yang handed him a black and white jade slip shaped like a yin-yang symbol.

"We'll always be nearby waiting for your orders," Yin added.

"Please excuse us."

They disappeared at the same time shortly after.

"That was something…" Xi Meili muttered with a somewhat dumbfounded look on her face.

As a princess who grew up with a small army, she couldn't help but admire just how faithful and loyal the Shadow Army appeared.

'Even the most loyal soldier in our family wouldn't look at Father the way those two looked at Yuan, and they just met today,' she sighed inwardly.

"Now then, before we head to the Shen Family to receive the second Ancient Seal, I should fill you in on the situation and my plan."

Yuan proceeded to explain the purpose of the Ancient Seal and his reason for gathering them, detailing its importance. He then shared his plan to acquire the seal, "Fortunately, the Shen Family are dragons, so we should have an easier time acquiring their Ancient Seal with your identity."

"My identity? Wouldn't it be better to use your identity? When you transform, you emit a presence stronger than even my father," she inquired with a puzzled face.

"Yes, but there exists a dragon family in the Supreme Heaven with the same surname as your Xi Family, and they have quite the authority. Who knows? There's even a chance you're related to them."

"What? That's not possible... I mean, my father had never mentioned anything about a family outside the Ancient Dragon City before. As far as I am aware, we're the only remaining 'Xi Family' left."

"I guess we'll find out once we reach the Ninth Heaven. Anyway, let me tell you how we'll go about it…"

Sometime later, they began making their way toward the Shen Family.

Meanwhile, at the Fairy Paradise, where Yuan once spent some time imprisoned, a beautiful woman stood before the Fairy Empress.

"How long has it been since you visited us? You should visit more often. We all miss you very much, Sister Songyun." The Fairy Empress showed a warm smile to Tan Songyun, who had spent the last three years chasing after Yuan.

"Sorry, but I've been very busy in the Sixth Heaven," Tan Songyun said.

"Are you still trying to find the bastard who broke your heart? Have you found any leads yet?"

Tan Songyun nodded and spoke with a serious expression, "Yes, I found a lead, and I believe he visited this place about three years ago."

"What?" The Fairy Empress' eyes widened with shock after hearing this.

"I learned that he visited my Immortal Cave in the lower heavens and came here by accident after triggering my teleport formation."

"Three years ago…" Fairy Empress wore a perplexed expression on her face after realizing who Tan Songyun was talking about.
