Chapter 1061 — Book 2: Chapter 259: Chaos plus chaos (8)
12 min read ·
Cale had no plans on going easy on Deputy Chief Priest Cotton.
Ooooo–
The air roared.
His Dominating Aura descended around the area.
“!”
The White Snake subconsciously stiffened.
Her mind, which had been chaotic because of the sudden situation, and because of hearing terms like the God of War, instantly turned blank.
It was at that moment.
Cotton, whose mouth was covered by Choi Han, flailed around.
Choi Han removed his hand from her mouth, and…
“N, no!”
Cotton shouted desperately.
“I was excommunicated!”
She was excommunicated by the God of War. Cotton shouted as if she truly felt wronged.
“I have no relations to the God of War now!”
It was at that moment.
Smile.
Cale started to smile.
He was still crouching down while looking at Cotton.
As the two of them made eye contact…
“You aren’t affected by my aura at all.”
“!”
“You are still too normal.”
Cotton opened her mouth as soon as Cale finished talking.
“Ah, I'm screwed.”
Her desperate face sank coldly.
He had never seen such a look on Cotton's face in his memories and even in his records.
“Ha.”
Cale scoffed in disbelief while Choi Han pushed down harder on Cotton's back.
“That hurts. I won’t run away so please don’t push down too hard.”
Cotton was sighing but she did not look as if she was in any pain. In fact, she was gently banging her forehead on the ground as she mumbled.
“As expected, acting as a spy in Ryan’s castle was a bit much.”
Cale had withdrawn his Dominating Aura at some point and sat down on the ground.
Cotton looked at him and nonchalantly commented.
“But it is true that I was excommunicated.”
Cale did not say anything.
But Cotton continued to speak as if she knew what Cale was thinking.
“That is why I am helping the White Snake as her ally and delivering information about Ryan instead of sticking with the Hunters.”
“Hunters?”
Cale asked with a look that seemed to imply he had no idea. Cotton sighed.
“Haaa, let’s not feign ignorance. We are both pros.”
Cale nodded his head.
“Okay. Let’s casually talk.”
That was why Cale nonchalantly asked.
“You are a Holy Maiden. But you were excommunicated by the God of War? A god can excommunicate a Holy Maiden that easily?”
That was correct. Cotton was not just a regular believer, she was the Holy Maiden.
It was what allowed her to create a safe area for Cale’s allies and protect them during their battle against the White Star in Endable.
“You also have a divine item.”
Cotton even had a dagger, a divine item from the God of War.
Her position in the church was not low at all. If anything, it was very high.
“No, haaa.”
The Cotton that Cale met in the past had spoken crudely as well. Cotton was acting exactly the same as when they saw her in Endable.
“Will you hear me out first?”
Cale happily obliged her request.
“Yeah. I'll hear you out.”
“Oh, really?”
Cotton's face lit up and Cale motioned to Choi Han with his eyes.
Choi Han nodded his head and Cotton scowled while facing what came next.
“…….”
She was tightly bound on a chair.
Raon was next to her guarding her as well, making sure that she could not escape.
Furthermore-
Swipe, swipe.
Choi Han was standing next to her wiping his blade with a cloth.
“Wow, this is driving me nuts.”
Cotton sighed and then shook her head before glaring at Cale, who was seated on a couch across from her.
"This is my house. Isn’t this too much?”
“And? Is that any of my business?”
“…No, it’s not any of your business.”
Cotton nodded her head as if she accepted that answer and Cale gave his demands.
“Short and sweet. Your situation and the God of War's scheme. Tell me everything.”
“…….”
Cotton didn't say anything and only glared at Cale with an extremely disgruntled gaze.
‘How can all of that be said in a short manner?’ That was what her eyes were saying but Cale completely ignored her and motioned with his chin.
Cotton opened her mouth.
“First of all, you know how the White Star borrowed power from the Demon World?”
“Ah.”
Choi Han gasped.
‘I had forgotten about that.’
Now that he thought about it, the White Star had built a Temple of the Demonic God in Endable and wanted to become the Demonic God. He had also borrowed power from the Demon World and had his Chief Priest and the believers use that power.
“Yeah. I do.”
Cale, as expected, had thought about that as well.
The reason he learned that Cotton had a divine item of the God of War was when they were getting rid of the door and wall infused with the power from the Demon World.
Deep inside Endable…
Cale had faced the altars beyond that door.
He also saw the sculptures of the unranked monsters he had faced during his time as Kim Rok Soo.
‘I was stuck in the black orb after that and sent to Earth.’
He met Choi Han and Dark Tiger Alberu there…
He also met Lee Soo Hyuk and the others of another world.
‘That was why it was on my mind.’
Of course, he tried his best to ignore it because it was something he didn't want to imagine.
Because-
‘That takes me too far from being a slacker.’
It felt like things would get too complicated.
Cale nonchalantly asked.
“It seems like the Demon World, Hunters, and the Divine World are all involved in this?”
“As I expected.”
Cotton nodded her head.
“You do seem to have figured out things to some degree.
Huuuuu.”
She sighed and continued in a weak voice.
“It’s not like I know the whole inside story either. But I will tell you what I do know.”
She shrugged her shoulders.
“Don't give me shit for not knowing everything. I may be a Holy Maiden but I am still just human.”
“Speak.”
Cotton immediately spoke after seeing Cale not caring about any of that and telling her to speak.
“You know about the Omnipotent god?”
“Yeah. The existence the Hunters are trying to create.”
“Okay. Mm.”
She contemplated for a bit before talking about the core of what she knew.
"This situation right now…”
Gulp. Cotton seemed nervous as she gulped before quietly mumbling.
"This chaos is created by three fractions scheming to swallow the world!”
Cale casually asked with an unsettled look on his face.
“Are the three factions the God of War, the Hunters, and the Demon World?”
“Yeah!”
She tilted her head and mumbled, completely different from her answer.
“Well, maybe the Demon World is pushing it a bit?”
"What do you mean?”
“They've been quiet lately. I don’t know why, but I think they’ve taken a step back. So I don’t think you need to worry about them.”
“Really?”
The Demon World had taken a step back from this alliance of three.
‘That’s a relief?’
It would truly be a headache if the Demon World was involved, so Cale was relieved.
Cotton shook her head at that moment.
“But the other two are a bit different!”
The Demon World, the God of War, and the Hunters…
Cale had accurately guessed the big picture, but Cotton felt as if he didn't understand the essence of it.
“To be more specific, the Hunter organization headed by the wanderers.”
“So the Hunters.”
“No, no. The important thing is the wanderer aspect!”
“Yeah. The Five Colors Bloods are wanderers.”
“…You know about that?”
Cotton’s jaw dropped.
“That's amazing.”
Cale nonchalantly asked the mumbling Cotton.
“And next?”
What was the God of War?
“Mm. This one is a long story.”
Cotton contemplated a bit before resuming her story.
“You know about the Ancient Gods?”
“To a degree.”
Cale had met the God of Balance and the God of Hope.
Cotton mentioned all five of the Ancient Gods.
"Balance, Chaos, Justice, Denial, Hope.”
Gods who had kept their positions since ancient times.
Other gods were sometimes forgotten or passed their positions to their successors, but… The Ancient Gods had existed without change.
Those five are the Ancient Gods. They have omnipotent areas in the Divine World. Well, the God of Hope is a bit of an anomaly. Usually, the God of Hope doesn’t show her existence very much. Anyway, I haven't personally gone, but the Divine World did not seem much different from this world either.”
Cotton chuckled and her tone sounded as if she was sneering.
“The Ancient Gods have been there for too long. The God of Balance has gotten too strong. Some of the Ancient Gods are upset about that while there are others who want to break through the stronghold of the ancient Gods.”
Cale said what seemed obvious.
“Then those shitheads plotted to create this chaos?”
“Yeah. That’s right.”
Cotton nodded her head before continuing to speak.
“As for the Demon World, it has been quiet lately because it was suppressed by the Divine World and the World of the Gods.”
“So they want to create this chaos to project their powers into the Human World? But lately they have taken a step back and have been quiet?”
“Oh. How did you know? That’s right.”
“Ha.”
Cale let out a sigh-like gasp and opened his mouth.
"Then the wanderers must want to flip over the current Divine World and have allied with the Hunters to make it happen. They want to create the omnipotent god to create a new world?”
“Y, yeah! Exactly! You know so much?”
‘Haaaaa.
It was completely obvious like a cliché in a story.’
Cale became annoyed.
It was obvious, but it was a threatening and terrible picture.
For Cale, this picture was truly annoying, bad, and he didn't like it.
He brushed his face with his hands as he spoke.
“The three factions must have made a deal with each other to work together but don't trust each other completely and are all moving toward their respective goals?”
“Wow. That’s right! That is my hypothesis!”
“Huuuuu.”
Cale sighed before speaking again.
“You didn't know how things were going so you didn't listen to the God of War and ended up excommunicated?”
“Yeah! That’s right!”
Cale’s face slowly scowled more as he looked at Cotton who was nodding her head with her eyes open at the fact that Cale got everything right.
Cotton said something at that moment.
“A different kid is the Holy Maiden now! The Hunters brought her over!”
‘Hmm?’
Cale stopped for a moment.
A different thought popped into his mind.
‘The Hunters brought a Holy Maiden for the God of War? That’s how a new one was chosen?’
Cale said the thought that popped into his mind.
“Is she perhaps a noble of the Roan Kingdom?”
“Uhh, yeah!”
“…Young lady Orsena?”
“Yeah! Wow, you are even smarter than a god!”
Cotton looked at Cale as if she was truly shocked and continued to gasp in admiration.
‘Fuck!
Damn it!’
Cale was getting a headache.
Young lady Orsena.
He had only gotten little clues about where she had disappeared as he traveled through different worlds. He had never managed to get any useful information.
‘I thought she would be in Aipotu or with one of the other Hunter households!
But she became the Holy Maiden of the God of War?!’
He was flabbergasted.
‘… This, this-’
Cale’s pupils were shaking.
‘Things are getting too big.
Is this okay?’
Cale felt an unexplainable sense of anxiety and looked at Cotton.
“Then who are you working with?”
“Huh?”
“You were excommunicated but still traveling through worlds on your own? You really think that makes sense?”
“Uhh, mm.”
Cotton could not continue to speak.
Cale quietly observed her.
If Cotton was not on Cale’s side nor on the Hunters’ side… She could not travel on her own.
It was too dangerous for that.
Furthermore, Cotton had something on her that was strong enough to let her not be affected by Cale’s aura.
That meant that she-
‘She should have an ally as well.
Or an organization she is a part of.’
Cale flipped through the information, the records he had.
He suddenly thought of something.
An existence right now, other than Cale, who would be going up against the Hunters…
There weren’t many.
“Are you perhaps connected to the Red Bloods?”
The Red Bloods, who were said to have perished…
‘Oh, descendant of the Thames!’
‘The Red Blood did not perish! The Red Blood, find-’
Choi Jung Gun, the one he met in the trial within the Temple of the sealed god, had told Cale to find the Red Bloods.
Cotton opened her mouth.
“…Chills.”
Had he finally found someone connected to the Red Bloods?
As Cale had that thought about Cotton’s reaction…
“You know about them too?”
‘Hmm?’
Cotton's answer was different from what he had expected.
Cotton shook her head.
"But I’m not with them. Of course, I am looking for the Red Bloods.”
Cale’s face stiffened up.
If it was not the Red Bloods, there was only one other faction Cale could think of that was helping Cotton.
Cotton's voice continued.
“The reason I am able to travel through worlds is because someone helped me. It is someone you know as well.”
There was only one answer.
Cale’s mouth opened.
“… The fake Hilsman?”
“Hmm?”
Cotton blankly asked but Cale clenched his eyes shut.
The person who had pretended to be Hilsman and approached Cale…
The person believed to be Drew Thames, Cale's biological mother's brother…
Cale slowly opened his eyes and asked properly.
“Are you talking about someone from the House of Thames?”
The fake Hilsman-
– Human, isn't fake Hilsman the guy who looted you?
‘Yes, the guy who stole my money!’
“Ha.”
Cotton gasped.
“Is this why they are all saying Cale Henituse this, Cale Henituse that?”
She could not hide her admiration.
“You are so smart.”
Cale buried his body deep into the couch after seeing her reaction.
"Ah, my head.”
“Human, do you have a headache?”
“Meeow!
No, it's bad if you have a headache, nya!”
As the children averaging ten-years-old, who had been quiet until now, became shocked and came over to him, Cale clenched his eyes again.
He couldn’t see anything.
Only darkness.
‘Shit!’
He felt a twinge in his throat.
He felt pain on the back of his head.
“Fuck.”
‘This really is chaotic.’
