Chapter 1078 — Book 2: Chapter 275: The night after the sunset (5)

< My daughter will not be a burden. >
Letao had urgently sent a message in blood after hearing that Cale was going to rescue his daughter.
< As long as you help her escape from the cell, she’ll be able to run away on her own. I've taught her at least that much. >
< My daughter’s attribute is flight. She flies so quickly in the air that even adult Dragons are not able to catch her. You won’t have to worry about her. >
A Dragon received their attribute after their first growth phase.
Unlike Raon, who didn’t know how to use his ‘present’ attribute very well… Most Dragons could use their attributes well after their first growth phase.
‘Ha.’
Cale barely held back a sigh.
He flinched.
“Human, I'm going to look too!”
Raon poked his head over Cale's shoulder.
Cale quickly raised his hand to try to push Raon back.
Raon had once been chained inside a cell within a cave.
Cale could not even imagine how Raon would feel while looking at this Dragon with her wings cut off in the cell.
However, before Cale could cover Raon’s eyes with his hand…
Huff huff.
He heard very heavy breathing.
Raon was breathing so heavily that it reached Cale’s hand that had stopped moving.
The problem was that there were multiple sources of heavy breathing.
Huff huff.
Hong was breathing heavily down below as well.
Tap tap.
Cale slowly lowered his hand after seeing On break the silence by gently walking inside.
What was the point of trying to cover this from them when the children averaging ten-years-old already saw?
“We have to fuck Ryan up and kill him, nya!”
Cale could not say anything despite Hong swearing like that.
He wondered who taught this young kid such vulgar language, but…
– Cale, it sounds like the children are learning your way of talking.
Cale ignored the Super Rock and looked behind him.
Unlike Hong, who was stomping on the ground because he could not control his anger…
Huff huff.
Raon was still just breathing heavily.
Cale looked into Raon’s dark blue eyes.
“…Human.”
“Yeah.”
“Did Ryan do this?”
“That seems to be the case.”
Huff huff. The breathing slowly relaxed.
Raon was silent for a moment before commenting.
“I think Letao will be sad.”
He then moved past Cale and went inside.
Ooooooooong-
Raon’s black mana fluctuated before spreading throughout the entire cell.
Crackle-
He lit up the entire cell.
There were numerous magic circles drawn inside.
This was probably the work of the Second Saint who created the door.
This magic circle probably turned this young Dragon like this.
Raon landed in front of the Dragon that was curled up flat on the ground.
The young Dragon had been warily looking at Raon since she heard him mention Letao.
“…….”
Raon plopped down on the ground. He made himself at the same eye level as the Dragon.
He then looked at that Dragon for a bit.
Maybe it was because of Raon’s young appearance, but…
The Dragon stopped looking around and the two Dragons looked at each other.
Raon debated about what to do.
What should he say to this Dragon?
It was only for a moment, but Raon recalled how he had been a few years ago while looking at this Dragon.
Then after looking at her cut off wings despite her attribute of flight, he became extremely enraged at Ryan.
‘A god?
Will they feed you if you become a god after doing something like this?
Ryan is not a great and mighty Dragon, he is a shitty Dragon!
The Dragon identity is wasted on him!’
Raon held back the words that wanted to burst out.
He then thought about what he could say.
Unlike himself in the past, this Dragon probably had something she wanted to hear.
“Letao is waiting for you!”
Raon found a place to return to after meeting his human, but this Dragon already had a place to go.
“By the way, I am the great and mighty Raon Miru! I am seven years old! I am about 200 years younger than you, but I am a cool and mighty Dragon who has finished his first growth phase!”
Raon calmly introduced himself as well.
It was at that moment.
The Dragon that was only as large as Raon despite being over 200 years old started speaking.
“…My dad-”
Cale wondered what she would say next.
Would she ask why her dad was not here?
Maybe she’ll ask where her dad is right now?
The young Dragon soon finished her question.
“Is my dad okay?”
Some existences reacted faster than Cale after hearing this question.
– Cale! Let’s make sure to kill that son of a bitch!
– Those rotten Dragon bastards! No, not all Dragons are like that. Let’s fuck up all of the Purple Blood bastards!
The cheapskate and the Sky Eating Water both roared intensely with anger.
Huff huff.
Raon started huffing again.
Cale squatted down and made eye contact with the Dragon.
The Dragon silently looked at Cale.
“…….”
He had not been able to tell this Dragon's age because she was similar in size to Raon, but… What she said next made Cale feel that this Dragon was indeed over 200 years old.
“He’ll be sad to see me like this.”
Her voice sounded young but there was sorrow in her eyes.
Cale heard Raon’s angry voice at that moment.
“T, these magic circles are all ones that mess with the mind!”
All of the magic circles on the ceiling, walls, and floor were set to destroy her mind.
– Human!
It was to the point that Raon was speaking into Cale’s mind now.
– She probably spent every day not being able to tell what was real and what was a nightmare! To activate these magic circles- ah!
Raon gasped and spoke loudly.
“It stopped because we opened the cell door!”
The magic circle on the inside of the door… Closing the door would complete the magic circle, making this young Dragon remain consistently in a nightmare.
Cale looked at Dragon and asked.
“Is that why you weren't suspicious of us?”
She had been wary at seeing unfamiliar faces, but this Dragon had believed the things Cale and the group had said to her.
“…Even with these magic circles, I can still feel the vibrations.”
The young Dragon calmly spoke.
This made Cale think that Letao thought his daughter was weaker than she actually is.
This Dragon in front of him was strong in a different way than Raon or Dodam.
“I kept feeling strong vibrations and thought that something must have happened above ground. Plus, the only one to come here lately has been Ryan.”
“That’s why you trust us?”
“That’s right. Ryan would never give his key to someone else, especially not a human.”
The Dragon's voice and gaze were calm and still.
However, Cale noticed the Dragon’s curled up body and her shaking front paws to tell that she was being very brave right now.
He soon figured out the reason for her courage.
“Is my dad okay?”
She asked again.
This Dragon was being very brave because she was worried about Letao.
Cale realized that he had made a mistake. He should have answered right away but he had been delayed because he was checking on her.
“Yeah. He’s fine.”
He continued to speak.
“He’s waiting for you.”
The Dragon asked another question.
“Running away from Ryan? Do you really think we won't get caught?”
Cale realized that this Dragon was mistaken and answered without any hesitation.
"We are not running away.”
Raon butted in and shouted.
“That’s right! We didn't come to run, we came to destroy! We are going to pummel Ryan to a pulp today! Goldie gramps said that he would do that! Oh, and Witira, she’s a Whale, said that she would pummel him so hard dust would come up even on a rainy day!”
Cale scowled.
‘When did Eruhaben-nim and Witira say things like that to Raon?’
He scowled even more after seeing On and Hong nodding their heads. However, he flinched after hearing what the Dragon said next.
“Ryan told me something. He said that my dad and I would not be able to beat him even if we overloaded and charged at him.”
Overload.
Cale had experienced the Dragon half-blood overloading in the past at the Gorge of Death.
That situation would have been very bad if the Super Rock was not there.
"Ryan came through that door every so often to give me time to rest.”
She stayed continuously in an illusion where she couldn't tell the difference between a nightmare and reality.
Ryan would come to see this Dragon, whose mind was starting to break down, and would send the guards away so that he could share his plan with her and her alone.
“It was probably for his own amusement.”
Ryan was messing with a Dragon who could not do anything to him.
“He was feeling rushed because he had to quickly do things while the Dragon Lord was not here.”
Ryan was feeling rushed for his own reasons.
“One day, he smiled and said something to me. I'm sorry. I don’t know when it was.”
The Dragon was still unable to hide the fact that her body was shaking.
“I don’t have a sense of time. You end up that way if you stay in this place.”
She then continued to speak.
“He asked why only Beast people can go berserk. He said that berserk and overload are the same concept. He pondered if he could use overload freely if he could dominate it.”
Cale's eyes opened wide.
“The next time he came to see me, he said that my dad and I would not be able to break even a single scale off his body even if we overloaded.”
Cale clearly understood the meaning of those words.
Choi Han spoke from behind him.
“I think Ryan can use overload like the Beast people use berserk.”
A Dragon’s overload…
The Dragon half-blood's overload had been very scary.
The book, The Birth of a Hero, mentioned near the beginning that Raon overloaded. It talked about how strong it had made him.
If a four year old Dragon who had not learned anything could overload to have that much strength…
‘How strong would it make Ryan?’
He could not even fathom it.
Cale’s gazes turned cold.
"Also-”
But the Dragon was not done talking.
“If you can dominate the overload process-”
Cale subconsciously opened his mouth.
He happened to be having the same thought.
“Then the berserk process may be dominated as well?”
Cale and the Dragon made eye contact.
The two were having the same thought.
She looked young but she was wise.
“I had the same thought.”
The Dragon spoke calmly.
Cale realized it.
This Dragon’s courage was coming from her concern for her dad as well as her own wisdom.
“Cale-nim.”
“I know.”
Cale realized that he could not just stay here like this.
He heard the Super Rock in his mind.
– I understand why he wants to take the spot of the Blue Wolf.
Ryan, the Dragon with the attribute of Domination…
He was said to dominate wild beasts, predatory beasts, and animals.
‘If that power affects Beast people as well?’
It wasn’t impossible.
Ryan was probably one of the Dragons who had consumed the largest amount of the foundation of this world.
Just like how the Inquisitors received special powers and grew stronger, Ryan’s attribute could have changed or evolved as well.
“…Ha.”
An attribute that allows him to dominate the Beast people and even control their berserk transformations as he pleases…
The Blue Wolf.
It was understandable why he wanted to become the god of the Beast people.
That was the only god position befitting Ryan.
‘But it won’t be easy to dominate the Beast people.’
If it was easy, Ryan would not have remained as a trusted subordinate of the Dragon Lord and laid low until now.
There must be some sort of ‘preconditions.’
And-
‘Those preconditions have probably been achieved for the Beast people residing in his castle.’
It was at that moment.
Boom!
The cell shook intensely.
The shaking was coming from above ground.
“Haa.”
Cale sighed.
‘Yeah, there’s no way it would be this easy.’
He now learned of Ryan's hidden card.
“Cale-nim, if Ryan controls the Beast people in the castle and makes them go berserk-”
Choi Han spoke with urgency. He must have realized the danger.
However, Cale looked relaxed as he asked the Dragon a question.
“Now that I think about it, I haven’t asked this. What’s your name?”
“…Maren.”
“Okay, Maren.”
He made an offer to this smart Dragon.
“Do you want to go out?”
Cale’s eyes opened wide at that moment.
“Oh!”
Raon was shocked as well.
Maren’s attribute was flight.
The Dragon that was over 200 years old despite only being a bit larger than Raon soon showed them her answer.
Her body was still shaking, but…
“…She's flying!”
Raon shouted with joy as Maren’s body floated up.
Maren looked at Cale and Raon as she explained.
“Not having my wings doesn’t mean that I can’t fly. My existence itself is my wings.”
Raon’s eyes opened wide.
Hearing that her existence itself was wings…
Raon suddenly thought about his own attribute, the ‘present.’
‘In that case-’
He tried to use the same logic on himself.
‘My existence itself is the present? I am the current moment, the ‘now’?’
Raon suddenly felt as if everything existing in the area around him was unfamiliar.
He quickly pushed that feeling aside.
That was not important right now.
“I think you are braver than Letao?”
Maren slightly smiled at Cale. Her lips were shaking but her gaze was firm.
“Honestly speaking, my dad is scared of a lot of things. He’s a coward.”
She sounded mischievous for the first time.
Cale then turned around and started walking out.
No, he stopped and called out to Raon.
“Raon.”
He pointed at the ceiling of the path.
Raon instantly understood.
“Should I destroy it?”
“Yeah.”
“Sounds great!”
Raon became excited and used his magic.
Baaaaaaaaaang—–!
The ceiling broke with a loud noise.
There was no need for them to waste time when every second mattered.
Swooooooosh-
Wind gathered by Cale’s feet.
The Sound of the Wind helped Cale rise up into the sky.
He went through the path Raon created without any hesitation.
“…….”
He finally got out of the crumbling residence and arrived at the sky.
He could now take a good look around.
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
“Aaaaaah!”
The Beast people who were running away were on the ground screaming.
As the sun set and night was about to arrive…
“M, my body isn’t listening!”
“Oo, oooo! It hurts, my body feels so hot!”
“Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
He could see Beast people in pain, the people in Aipotu in a state of chaos, and a situation where they could not run away.
It was chaotic.
Cale looked toward the stage.
“Haha-”
Ryan was laughing leisurely while Eruhaben was fighting against him with a scowl on his face.
He made eye contact with Eruhaben who turned his head.
– This punk is as strong as I am.
The First Saint Dragon.
He was at Eruhaben's level.
That was why Eruhaben couldn't pummel him and was fighting evenly.
– I can also feel dead mana under the stage.
The dead mana was under the stage as expected and that made it impossible for Eruhaben to fight intensely while the people could not run away.
Cale looked down while Eruhaben's report continued.
He could see the Beast people in pain.
“Cale-nim, if they go berserk-”
The Beast people reminded him of when Lock first went through his berserk transformation.
Choi Han, who had flown up with Raon’s magic, could not continue to speak.
Cale heard someone's voice in his mind at that moment.
– Domination?
The imposing voice sounded oddly frivolous.
However, it sounded reliable.
– If we can dominate that guy, Ryan, won’t the Beast people become okay?
The Dominating Aura.
He sneered as he spoke.
– Ryan. That guy isn't even a god. Look at him thinking he is the shit when he’s not even a god.
Oooooo– oooooo–
The air around Cale started to get heavier.
It heavily started to press down on the area like the approaching night.
