Chapter 1080 — Book 2: Chapter 277: The night after the sunset (7)

Where would the divine item be?
Cale thought at first that Ryan was holding the divine item.
It was the most important item after all.
< He doesn't seem to have it on him. >
‘…Chaos… missing……!’
Letao and the Wind Elemental, Freedom…
Neither of them knew where the divine item was right now.
– Sniff sniff.
It had started the moment Cale stood on this stage.
‘Then the divine item should be nearby.’
Baaaaang! Bang!
The explosions continued.
‘How vicious.’
Baaaaaang-
Bang!
Baaaaang!
There were continuous explosions where Ryan, Letao, and Eruhaben were fighting, making it feel as if the stage would break.
‘Haa.’
Cale was unable to properly make out what was happening in the mix of the dark blue, blue, and white gold flashes.
The blue and white gold lights remained the same sizes but the dark blue was burning like a fiercely spreading wildfire.
“Human!”
Cale spoke to Raon who approached him.
“Can you send a message to Eruhaben-nim?”
Cale asked Raon to use his magic.
“Ask him to drag Ryan out of this area. I will find the divine item.”
That should be enough for Eruhaben to understand and take care of things.
Cale turned his gaze. He raised his hand and extended his palm forward.
“Young master-nim!”
Lock flinched while approaching him.
It was the same for the White Snake and Witira.
Cale looked around.
‘It’s reached a lull.’
Ryan had staggered slightly when Cale's half-powered Dominating Aura reached him.
He soon overcame it as if nothing was wrong, but it had cut off the dominance over the Beast people.
He could have resumed dominating them, but…
Baaaaang!
Bang!
Ryan probably could not focus on anything with two Dragons attacking him.
“Grrrrrr-!”
“Oo, oooo……!”
The Beast people were slowly being released from the odd berserk phenomenon and their violence was dwindling.
In return, they were unable to control their bodies properly.
“…That was not a proper berserk transformation.”
Witira came over to Cale and explained.
“That, that is using their life force to force a berserk transformation. I'm sure of it.”
“T, that-!”
Lock's pupils were shaking.
He knew it was not a proper berserk transformation but had no idea that it affected their life force.
Witira continued to speak to Cale in a calm low voice.
“A Beast person's berserk transformation does not take their life as collateral. There is only one instance where an individual’s life is on the line like this.”
Cale quickly figured out the answer and commented.
"A Dragon’s overload.”
“That’s right.”
Witira nodded her head, chuckled, and added on.
“It really is different from the true god, the Blue Wolf.”
Gashan belatedly approached.
He had his hands behind his back but the presence he was giving off was quite vicious.
“Young master-nim, based on what I have checked with the crows… This forest and the entire desert reacted to Ryan’s power earlier.”
It was not just the predatory beasts in the forest but the snakes and all living creatures in the desert had moved for Ryan.
In a frenzy state at that.
“Ryan's domain.”
Ryan’s land started at the castle and extended to the forest and the desert.
“I think that the animals living there were influenced by Ryan’s attribute. However, I do not know the reason the Beast people have ended up like this.”
Cale nodded his head and opened his mouth.
“It is important to figure out the reason but I think that we should move the Beast people out of the desert as quickly as possible for now. We need them to get out of Ryan's domain.”
“We will hurry up and do so, young master-nim.”
Gashan did not say anything else and immediately walked away from Cale.
Pat.
He patted the White Snake’s scale as he spoke.
“Let’s put the Beast people on this large body of yours. There are a lot of them who are struggling to move.”
“…Huuuuuu.”
The White Snake sighed before nodding her head in agreement.
However, she did not leave right away as she had something to say.
"There is a legend regarding the Howl of Sunset.”
The Howl of Sunset was one of the Blue Wolf’s divine items.
A story about that…
“The day is time for the humans. The night is time for the animals.”
A time that exists at some point between the two…
“Sunset or dawn.”
Those times were when…
“Those times are like the Beast people who are neither human nor animals and remain on the boundary of the two.”
People may question why it was important to talk about a divine item when there was chaos everywhere, but… The White Snake felt extremely certain that she should say it.
“The Howl of Sunset is the divine item pointing at that middle point, the boundary. It is a symbol of the Beast people.”
Something that was neither human nor animal.
Those words echoed in Lock's ears.
He then thought to himself.
‘Beast people are Beast people. Did they really need to phrase it as something in between humans and animals?”
The White Snake's voice continued.
“But seeing Ryan's actions is making me concerned. If that divine item has become polluted, how would it have changed?”
The divine item was not completely polluted, but most of it was polluted with this last execution to go.
“That item, now that it has been dyed black, the boundary has disappeared. Wouldn’t it take the Beast people beyond the boundary? And what lies beyond the boundary is probably what Ryan wants.”
The White Snake lowered her large body and made a request.
“If you are unable to purify the divine item, please make sure to destroy it.”
Lock's eyes opened wide.
Lock and the White Snake made eye contact at that moment.
The aged White Snake slightly smiled.
“I now know that it is possible to properly go berserk even without the existence of the Blue Wolf. So I am sure that we will be able to do it as well.”
The White Snake raised her head again.
“And figuring out that method is the task of us, the older generation.”
Lock had not been the only one to see the despair in Nia’s eyes.
The White Snake had been experiencing it for the past two hundred years.
While looking at her descendants…
While looking at her own child…
“I will make sure to do that.”
The White Snake left without any hesitation at Cale’s response.
Gashan was following behind her when he noticed Lock. He debated whether to call Lock before seeing Cale motioning to Lock and Witira and left without any issues.
“Young master Cale, do you have something for us to do?”
Cale nodded his head at Witira's question.
“I haven’t seen him since earlier.”
The person he was sure that he saw outside the window while he was in Ryan's lair earlier had not been visible since he busted out of that secret prison building earlier.
To be more specific, he had not been seen since the Beast people went berserk.
“Who have you not see-”
Lock started to ask but closed his mouth after seeing the stiff expression on Witira’s face.
“I don’t see that person.”
Witira. She had been in Cale’s position many times.
As the Commander or leader of a battlefield…
It was a position where you had to look at the entire battlefield and could not miss the small details.
That experience allowed her to notice that an important figure among the enemies was not visible right now.
“The mage.”
The old mage.
Ryan's trusted subordinate and someone who had been deeply involved in these events and rituals…
The person who was basically the one running things was not visible right now.
“He has disappeared.”
Lock’s face turned pale.
He knew who they were talking about.
“Oh no.”
Witira sighed.
She then apologized for her mistake.
“I'm sorry. I had been paying attention until a bit earlier.”
After seeing the Beast people go berserk, Witira had lost her sense of reason for a bit after noticing their life force depleting.
“Should I go find him?”
Cale nodded his head.
Swoooooooosh-
Swooooooosh-
Two small whirlwinds moved toward Witira and Lock.
Swooooooosh-
One swirled around Cale as well.
“I told the Wind Elementals to always keep an eye on that mage's location. But that mage suddenly went into a house with his subordinates, changed into the same clothes, and all disappeared into different directions.”
They left with magic devices that cause mana to run chaotic around them.
Because of that, the Wind Elementals were unable to tell the three of them apart for a bit.
They were so similar with their robes on that even their physiques looked similar.
“”They said they moved in three directions.”
Cale gave an order.
“Lock, On, Hong, and Maren. You guys move together.”
“Should I go with Archie?”
Cale nodded his head at Witira's question.
“We will send a signal right away if we find the mage.”
Witira immediately started moving. She grabbed Archie, who was running wild, by the back of his neck and quickly followed the wind.
“Uhh-”
Lock flinched.
Maren…
The young Dragon was looking at Cale and not moving.
Cale could tell that this Dragon was looking at him but thinking about her father, Letao.
It made it clear what he needed to say to her.
“Maren.”
“…Yeah.”
The moment Cale and Maren made eye contact…
“I am going to make sure your father lives no matter what.”
“!”
Maren stopped looking at Cale.
On then nodded her head before she and Hong took Maren and headed over to Lock.
“We’ll be back so please be careful.”
Of course, she left a comment with Cale before she left.
Tatap! Tap!
On and Hong landed on either side of Lock, who flinched for a moment before making eye contact with Hong.
"We are going to do it together, nya! I'll use my poison if it gets dangerous, nya!”
“I’m here too, nya.”
Lock chuckled.
On and Hong.
“The two of you are very reliable.”
Lock’s face looked a bit more determined.
He gave a short head greeting to Maren before quickly starting to move.
The old mage.
They needed to find him.
The wind, well, the Wind Elemental who knew his face would immediately let them know if they found him.
Cale watched them leave before walking down the steps heading down from the stage.
“Choi Han.”
He then headed toward the back of the stage.
It was in the direction of the chair Ryan had been sitting on. There was a random door at the center of the altar that was the size of an average person.
– Sniff sniff!
The Sound of the Wind started sniffing louder.
Swooooooosh-
A Wind Elemental let him know that one of the three ‘old mages’ went into this place.
‘This must be the place then.’
He was sure that the old mage had gone in here.
Cale had sent the others to the other two locations just in case.
He looked at Choi Han.
“I will guard the door, Cale-nim.”
Choi Jung Soo slowly stuck right behind Cale.
“Hey. Let’s go. I'll be the tanker.”
Cale nodded his head and Choi Jung Soo took that as the signal to grab the doorknob.
Click. Click.
It did not open.
It was obviously locked.
“Hey Jung Soo, move! I will-”
Raon stepped forward but…
Bang!
Choi Jung Soo kicked the door with his foot.
Crack!
He pulled, no, ripped off the doorknob.
He then opened the door.
“Oh.”
Raon was amazed while Cale realized something.
‘I knew he was still angry.’
Choi Jung Soo smiled brightly as he spoke.
“Okay, I’ll go first.”
They could see the dark area underneath the stage.
He took a step inside.
Crackle-
Raon cast a spell to light up the area and they saw a path heading to the basement.
“Ah.”
Choi Jung Soo flinched.
Cale shouted at him.
“Hey, get out!”
Choi Jung Soo’s body staggered.
He turned his head. Choi Han was pulling him with a stiff look on his face.
Underneath the stage…
There was another large area underneath it.
“This is crazy!”
As Raon shouted in astonishment…
Choi Jung Soo could fully see what was underneath the stage.
The rough walls that had made it resemble a cave were not regular walls.
‘Corpses.’
There were many faces on it but they were unable to tell if they were human or something else.
They were all covered by a thick black substance.
That thick substance gave off an instinctual feeling of disgust.
‘…Even I-’
The negative feeling coming from this place was even hard for a wanderer like him to withstand.
‘How could they have such a dreadful place hidden under the stage without giving off any signs?’
Choi Jung Soo saw the magic circle on the inside of the door he destroyed.
Raon shouted at that moment.
“This magic circle is the same as the one in the cell earlier!”
Cale made a comment.
“The Second Saint.”
A Dragon with such magic skills that even Raon could not measure up to her…
That Dragon had been involved in setting up this stage.
This stage had taken a week to set up.
Piiiiiiiiiiii– piiiiiii-
The divine item, the mirror in Cale’s pocket was making noises but Cale could not look.
The messages that he could not read right now…
< Sichuan has been scorched! The Dragon Lord destroyed everything there! I am currently on the run! - Sincerely, Central Plains >
< That bastard is not almost God-level, he’s basically a god already! - Sincerely, Central Plains >
< As long as he gets the qualification of a god, as long as he passes the god's test, he should become a god! - Sincerely, Central Plains >
But Cale could not read these messages.
Underneath the stage…
This large hall…
The area that was full of a thick black substance covering corpses…
The old mage was standing at the center.
“Ugh, ugh-”
He was dying.
"Finally, the grand vision-”
But he was laughing.
His body was being dyed black.
To be more specific, the thick black substance in the area was starting to take over his body.
It covered all the way up to the old man’s neck at this point.
The old man laughed while watching it.
The old man was holding the Howl of Sunset in his hands.
That divine item was now over 90 percent black.
Cale could not easily make a move despite seeing this.
“There were quite a lot of entertaining sounds up there. You made it here in the end.”
The only existence giving off her own color in this black area…
A woman dressed as a mage was smiling.
However, her pupils were vertical and golden.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Epley.
The Second Saint Dragon, the one who had the attribute of ocean and was called the God of the Ocean…
Epley.
“I came here at Ryan's request, but this is quite an entertaining sight.”
She greeted Cale with a smile.
And…
“Ha!”
Cale laughed as well.
“Wow.”
He was amazed.
“Now it is not that easy.”
The Purple Bloods.
The Dragons destroying Aipotu truly were strong compared to the enemies he had faced until now. They also gave him lots of unexpected surprises.
– Cale. Should I burn some of those black things for now? Let’s start a fire!
Of course, Cale was not planning on losing.
– Let’s try using our full aura!
In fact, he saw this as a positive thing.
It was a chance for him to take care of both the First and Second Saint Dragons before the Dragon Lord arrived.
He heard Raon’s cautious voice.
– Human, are we destroying things?
It was at that moment.
“Epley. Nice to meet you. By the way…”
Choi Jung Soo smiled at Epley as he asked.
“Are you a believer of the God of Chaos?”
