Chapter 1089 — Book 2: Chapter 286: The Night does not Equate to Fear (7)
14 min read ·
Cale looked extremely haughty.
He hadn’t fainted or even coughed up blood.
The Super Rock warned that it would happen soon if he doesn't rest despite being fine right now, but…
– Seriously, it will happen soon.
But he pretended not to hear again.
It was at that moment.
As Raon and Choi Han stared at him… Raon opened his mouth.
His already chubby cheeks became even puffier.
Raon snorted.
“Human, I know how this works now! You push yourself a little more and you'll cough up blood! Then you will faint! After that, you will wake up in a few days!”
“……!”
Cale pupils shook for a moment.
“Cale-nim.”
Choi Han walked over and handed him a handkerchief.
Cale noticed that it was the one Ron usually carries around. Cale suddenly got scared.
Choi Han used the handkerchief to wipe around Cale's mouth before placing it in Cale’s hand.
“Cale-nim, shouldn’t you stop the blood first and then say something that makes sense?”
“……!”
Cale’s pupils shook even more.
‘Right now-’
Did the pure and innocent Choi Han-
‘Did he just shame me?’
No. ‘Wait a minute. Did this punk really just say that I said something that made no sense?
He’s telling me to wipe the blood away first before saying anything I have to say?’
Cale opened and closed his mouth without being able to say anything.
Drip.
Blood kept dripping out of the corner of his mouth as he did that.
Lock walked over at that moment.
“Umm, he says that he is going to sleep for a bit.”
Lock pointed at the small blue flame on his shoulder.
“He says that he used too much of his power.”
Nobody questioned that at all.
The Blue Wolf.
The forgotten god had appeared.
He came from an almost completely polluted divine item.
Nobody thought that the Blue Wolf they saw earlier was the true body of the god.
They only considered it as a portion of the god.
It was similar to how only a portion of the God of Chaos had shown itself.
“A forgotten god stopping an ancient god would have required a significant amount of power.”
Eruhaben came over and sighed.
He looked extremely annoyed.
“…How disappointing.”
Choi Han could instantly tell who Eruhaben was talking about.
Eruhaben must be thinking about Epley.
It was similar to how Choi Han was thinking about the black mage.
‘I couldn't do anything.’
Choi Han could not move properly from the moment the grey wall appeared.
It was the same for Eruhaben.
His instincts warned that he should not use any magic from the moment he faced the grey wall.
He hadn't been shaking in fear like Cale had been doing, but the thought of dying the moment he tried to attack the god…
His instincts kept warning him nonstop about it.
That resulted in his inability to move, but…
‘How did the little kid-’
Eruhaben's gaze deepened as he looked at Raon.
‘Lock seemed free from the God of Chaos's influence to a degree because he had the Blue Wolf god’s blessing or protection, but…’
Raon had nothing like that. ‘How was it possible for the kid?
…Is it because of his attributes?’
He could only suspect that the answer lied in Raon’s present attribute.
Eruhaben looked away from Raon and faced Cale instead.
‘…This punk is quite peculiar as well.’
He definitely remembered Cale almost submitting in front of the God of Chaos.
Cale then looked likely again, then bewitched again, before his eyes sparkled like they do before he scams somebody.
His face looked as if he had found some treasure.
‘What is going on?’
Raon and Cale… Eruhaben looked at the two little punks who were impossible to understand before seeing Cale dripping blood and taking over the situation.
“Let’s all head down first.”
He then pointed to Ryan’s lair down below, which was still standing firm.
“We can rest there.”
Eruhaben spoke calmly after sensing Cale’s gaze.
“Isn't that ours now?”
Eruhaben ignored Cale’s gaze and gently cast a spell.
Swooooooosh-
A breeze carrying white gold dust flew over and wrapped around Cale's group.
It then slowly brought them down to the ground.
The spot where the stage had been…
The stage itself was completely destroyed but this plaza, now that the black liquid was gone, was better than the rest of the town that was a mess.
“…Young master-nim.”
Cale could see some people come up to him once he landed on the ground.
Tasha, Witira, and Gashan. Wiesha was there as well.
Tasha, who was in the front of the group, opened her mouth before closing it without saying anything.
Cale saw this and opened his mouth to speak.
He wanted to ask her about the evacuation situation as the people who were running away seemed to have come back.
However, Tasha shook her head as soon as Cale opened his mouth.
“This does not seem to be the time for a discussion. I will report to you separately later, young master-nim.”
Drip.
Cale’s mouth kept filling with blood so he just swallowed it.
He then opened his mouth.
“Human, don’t swallow the blood!”
“Meeeeeow!”
“Meeow.”
On and Hong came over as soon as Raon shouted.
Hong started rubbing his body on Cale’s leg.
“Huuuuuu.”
Witira let out a sigh.
“I want to ask about the identity of that grey thing from earlier, but why don't we get some rest first?”
“No-”
‘I can talk.’
Cale wanted to say that.
However, nobody gave him a chance to speak.
“Please leave the rest to me, young master-nim.”
Gashan laughed out loud as if to tell Cale not to worry.
Cale lifted his head up.
Drip. Blood was dripping again.
He made eye contact with Wiesha.
‘Huh?’
The White Snake had blood on top of her snake skin.
‘Is that my blood?’
The White Snake's body was so large that the blood he dripped earlier must have landed on her.
“I think you have some blood to wipe off.”
Wiesha jerked her head up at Cale’s nonchalant comment.
She then slowly started to answer.
Her voice was shaking.
“…I do not have the courage to wipe this blood off.”
‘What is she talking about?
Is she scared of blood?’
Cale looked at Wiesha with a baffled look but the children averaging ten-years-old kept pushing Cale.
“You need to go inside and rest first, nya.”
“Noona is right, nya!”
“Human, let’s go rest!”
Cale decided he would hear the rest of the reports while lying down as he was forced to head into Ryan’s lair. Even that was done with magic so that it was nice and relaxing for him.
‘I really am fine.’
Cale truly believed this thought.
Many people watched his back as he moved.
Wiesha lowered her head once more.
The Savior.
An existence who was human but not human at the same time.
She believed him to be the one to save this world.
That was why she had trembled in fear at his immense strength and, honestly speaking, felt almost an instinctual pull to worship him.
However, she had seen everything.
‘He is human too.’
A human like me.
The grey wall… She had no idea what that was.
She could at least feel that it was a dreadful god or an existence close to it.
The way Cale had shuddered in fear in front of it…
And the way he was bleeding nonstop right now…
‘He's holding it all in.’
It wasn’t that Cale was not human.
He was a human who was holding it all in.
Because the weight of his responsibilities was so high.
‘He holds it all in while fighting and the blood he can’t hold back drips out once everything is over.’
Wiesha suddenly felt as if she could finally understand why strong Dragons like Eruhaben or Mila would trust and follow Cale.
‘They follow him because he has such mental fortitude.’
Wiesha wanted to respect Cale rather than be scared of him now.
She wanted to understand him and be able to help him.
‘Is this the role of a leader?’
Wiesha could see once she lowered her head.
“Wiesha-nim.”
“Is it over, Wiesha-nim?”
There were Beast people approaching her.
Among them were the ones who had survived everything with her and had come rushing at her call to gather.
‘What is my role?’
Many thoughts filled her mind.
She couldn’t help but look at someone else’s back.
It was not just her.
All of the Beast people were looking at someone’s back.
Lock.
The young Wolf.
Wiesha's heart started to beat wildly while thinking about Lock.
Furthermore, the Blue Wolf that appeared at the end…
She was certain that it was a god.
That was their god, the Blue Wolf.
At first, she wondered why their god was sharing his power with a boy from another world instead of a Beast person from Aipotu.
However, the moment the young boy stopped the overloading Dragon and confidently stood in front of that dreadful grey wall…
‘Ah.
Our god put his trust in this young boy because of his courage.’
That thought naturally filled her mind.
Not everybody could be courageous because they had the strength.
The young boy would have acted with courage even without the strength to back it up.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
In between the calm breezes…
The wild beasts were quietly looking into the castle.
As for the predatory Beast people, they were looking at Lock, who had been following Cale before stopping after a conversation.
Lock became distant from the group and stopped walking for a moment.
He then slowly turned around.
He released his berserk transformation.
His large physique shrank back down.
The radiant silver fur and the blue glow at the tip all disappeared.
The now tall but feeble Lock flinched at the eyes focused on him.
However, he quickly walked over toward them.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
A breeze started blowing again.
His ash-colored hair fluttered with the wind, revealing his whole face.
His sky blue eyes were clear and shining.
That gaze was the only thing that let people know that this tweener was the large Wolf from earlier.
However, that gaze alone showed everything as well.
The blue light was still on top of his shoulder.
“Umm, I, I have something to say to you all.”
Lock came over and addressed Wiesha and her people.
Wiesha subconsciously lowered her head more and opened her mouth.
“Yes sir. We are ready to listen.”
She subconsciously spoke respectfully to him.
But she didn't even recognize it. It felt normal.
Lock took in a deep breath.
The Beast people were waiting for his explanation.
The god that they had been desperately seeking had appeared to Lock.
Boom. Boom.
His heart started beating wildly again.
Lock could see Gashan, Witira, and Archie looking at him. They silently smiled and nodded their heads. Well, Archie was giving him two thumbs up with a look of awe.
Lock’s shoulders naturally opened up and he stood up straight.
Now that he gathered up some courage, he could properly see the eyes of the people looking at him.
Among them, he noticed the Wolf tribe leader Nia and Koukan.
Lock opened his mouth.
“I heard the voice of the divine item.”
His story started.
‘How should I explain it, young master-nim?’
‘Just tell them exactly what you want to say.’
‘…I'm just worried there are things I should not say.’
‘There is no such thing.’
Lock recalled his conversation with Cale and continued his story.
The night was still silent.
* * *
Unfortunately, things were not silent around Cale.
Ding!
Diiiiiiiing ding!
Ooooooong-
Oooooong– oooooong–
The divine item from the God of Death kept ringing and vibrating.
"So loud.”
Cale sighed and turned on the mirror.
< Cale, Cale! Do you know what it means for the World of the Gods to be split in half? >
< Wow, this is driving me nuts. This is total severance! The domain of chaos is something even ancient gods cannot easily cross! >
< Wow, what a shitshow. A total shitshow! >
< Kahahaha, apparently the God of Balance is running around bare feet with her heels off! Kahahaha! >
“Ignore the God of Death for now.”
Issues in the World of the Gods… ‘That's not my business right now.’
Oooooong– oooooong–
Next was from Central Plains.
Cale thought about what Central Plains had last said to him.
‘Sichuan has been scorched! The Dragon Lord destroyed everything there! I am currently on the run! – Sincerely, Central Plains’
‘That bastard is not almost God-level, he’s basically a god already! – Sincerely, Central Plains’
‘As long as he gets the qualification of a god, as long as he passes the god's test, he should become a god! – Sincerely, Central Plains’
The message this time was short.
< Successfully escaped! Did Central Plains do good, young master-nim? I completely ignored him saying he wanted to chat! >
< Why would I chat with a baddie?! >
‘This punk.’
< He seemed like he had a lot of questions so I just blew him off! >
‘He’s quite decent if you think about it.’
The Dragon Lord should be looking for Cale's crown, Choi Han’s wooden sword, and Raon's ring.
‘Well, I think I'm going to end up passing the wooden sword to Clopeh.’
The Dragon Lord had gone to the Central Plains to find the things that Maxillienne, the future-seeing Dragon, had stolen.
< Keke. That guy is going to return empty handed. Keke. >
‘I know, right?’
< Anyway, I think he is going to head back soon, young master-nim. >
< Ah, just so you know, I am hiding with the Demon Cult. >
‘Huh?’
< The Demon Cult, Martial Arts Alliance, and the Unorthodox faction had all gathered together and looked ready to fight the Dragon Lord... I had to stop them. So I came here to chat with the Heavenly Demon. This guy at least knows a bit about me after all. >
< Anyway, little Central Plains is doing his best right now, young master-nim! Hehe. – Sincerely, Central Plains >
Cale opened his mouth to speak.
“This guy is better than the God of Death.”
He meant every word.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Cale tapped on the table as he thought about things.
He raised his head after hearing a notification.
Beeeeeeep-
The video communication device lit up and showed him the message.
< We have received a summons from the Third Saint Dragon. - Casillia >
It was a message from the Pope.
The Third Saint Dragon. He was calling for the Pope.
Cale thought about the remaining forces.
His allies still within the Black Castle…
His allies, the Beast people and the Haru Kingdom…
The Church and the Empire, who were temporarily his allies…
And the remaining enemies.
The remaining of the ten Dragon gods and the Second and Third Saint Dragons.
Beyond them, the dozens of remaining Dragons.
The Elves, Dwarves, and humans following them as well…
Finally, the Dragon Lord.
Then there was the variable, the God of Chaos, who might suddenly appear again.
They still had a lot of enemies.
“I think an ambush is impossible now.”
Now that even Ryan had fallen, a frontal assault was the only thing remaining.
“The Dragon Lord seems like he will return soon as well.”
The Dragon Lord had no reason to stay in Central Plains since little Central Plains managed to escape properly.
The Dragon Lord may have also heard about the happenings back in Aipotu as well.
Ryan was dead but the other two Saint Dragons still remained.
“…….”
Cale finished thinking about it.
He looked at the others as he spoke.
“Let’s head for the Third Saint Dragon’s lair once the sun comes up tomorrow.”
He sent the Pope a message.
< Do you need an attendant? >
Wouldn’t it be okay for him to take a look around the Third Saint Dragon’s lair as the Pope's attendant?
Seeing the World Tree would just be an extra.
He would just use that chance to block the escaping power of the foundation of this world.
Then he would go to the Dragon Lord's lair and destroy the base point.
‘That should restore the aura of the world, right?
Wow. So easy.’
“Ha.”
Cale was flabbergasted.
He sent the message then asked Central Plains a question.
He had seen something he could not ignore.
‘That bastard is not almost God-level, he’s basically a god already! – Sincerely, Central Plains’
‘As long as he gets the qualification of a god, as long as he passes the god's test, he should become a god! – Sincerely, Central Plains’
“What are the qualifications of a god and the god’s test? There are such things?”
Ding!
< Yes sir, there are! They should remain secrets but I’ll stealthily let you know, young master-nim! Hehe. - Central Plains is #teamCale-nim >
‘I like him more and more.’
Cale waited for Central Plains’ message with a satisfied look on his face.
Of course, he ignored the God of Death.
* * *
“The priest's robe here is quite comfortable.”
Cale smiled at Pope Casillia while wearing a priest's robe.
“How magnificent, Cale-nim. It reminds me of our first meeting.”
Cale’s face quickly turned unsettled at Clopeh's compliment.
Cale and Clopeh were going as the Pope's attendants.
