Chapter 1129 — Book 2: Chapter 326: What cannot be understood (6)
13 min read ·
The first time.
Raon thought that this would be the first time someone would die in front of him.
“No!”
Raon didn’t even recognize what he was saying.
Our human is bleeding.
No, just bleeding would not scare him.
Instant.
The human used that scary power.
Our human might die.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He then saw it.
He saw the large white gold Dragon that stopped the purple mana in front of him, grabbed Neo, and disappeared.
He could tell who it was even without asking.
It was the Dragon half-blood.
He saw something black at the center of the white gold light.
He could feel the Dragon half-blood's aura coming from it.
The Dragon half-blood might die.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He heard numerous voices as time suddenly returned to normal.
"What is this-”
"Raon-!”
“No, Cale-nim, Cale-nim! Mila-nim! Mila-nim, where are you-?!”
"Fuck! We need to stop that explosion!”
Neo's overload then ended.
There was an explosion.
Our human.
Our Dragon half-blood.
Our family-
Our friends-
They might all die.
No, some of them might be saved.
But some of them would die.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
“Raon!”
He heard Goldie gramps calling out to him.
Baaaaaang—-
But the voice was swallowed by the explosion.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
‘What should I do?’
Raon subconsciously turned his head.
The person I am always looking at and learning from, yes.
The person who first taught me about the light of the world.
The person who first showed me the light of the stars in the night sky.
I still need to learn from the person who first taught me anything.
Raon looked away from the explosion and looked at someone.
He made eye contact with Cale.
No.
Cale’s gaze was already blurry.
Even beyond the blood covering his eyes, it was clear that Cale could not fully comprehend what was going on.
“Heh.”
Raon chuckled.
A faint silver light was glowing in Cale’s hand.
‘That’s it.’
Our human could not see anything right now.
He couldn't hear anything either.
He was almost unconscious, but…
He was still casting out a silver light like this.
He was casting his shield.
Because he needed to protect this place.
He needed to stop this explosion
Yes.
‘I have learned properly.
I am a great and mighty Dragon, so I am better than anybody else at learning.’
“Heh, hehe-”
Something was weird.
He kept laughing.
His body was full of strength.
None of their friends were trying to learn.
They were all trying to take care of those around them.
Seeing this, Raon finally recognized it.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Not this hellish reality.
Not this nightmare-like reality.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
What I can do.
What I can do for our family.
Rather than feeling sad, angry, or helpless, what I should be doing.
Raon finally figured that out.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Raon looked down at his front paws at that moment.
This beating was not his own heart.
It was not his heart thumping in fear and worry.
Oooooo– oooooo–
He had not checked his own condition as he was busy looking at the others.
Ooooo—
The black mana surrounding his front paws and his entire body…
‘It’s warm.’
Raon finally realized that his whole body had turned cold.
The black mana was warming up his body.
“Hoo, heh-”
He was laughing.
Raon could see the ancient Dragon trying to grab his front paw.
Yes, Goldie gramps was probably trying to hide Raon behind his back.
However……
‘No.’
Not right now.
In this turbulent world…
Raon found what he could do.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He felt a strong ripple.
Just like his heart…
The world was thumping.
No, the mana of the world was pulsating.
It was pulsating at the same speed as his heart.
Raon dodged the ancient Dragon's hand and extended his two front paws.
Baaaaaang–
The light of the large explosion approaching him…
Unlike the white gold light that had moved in front of him or the silver light that had protected him-
This light did not look great or mighty at all.
Raon cast a spell toward that light.
Shield.
Until now…
This was the spell he had used the most and practiced the most.
This was the spell he was most confident about.
Why? Because, well, this is a secret, but it is because our human looks the coolest when he uses his shield.
That was the reason Raon practiced and studied the shield spell the most.
This shield was also the power he needed the most right now.
Ooooooooo-
A large shield appeared and surrounded the castle walls.
Kugugu—
The large explosion crashed into the shield.
It felt as if the shield would break.
However, Raon didn't care.
If one was not enough, he just needed to create another one.
‘But before that-!’
Raon looked toward where the white gold light was breaking in a spot beyond this half-transparent black shield.
That white gold light was holding onto the epicenter of this explosion with everything it had.
That light looked as if it would break but it did not break.
No.
That light would try to stop the explosion until the end even if it was to break.
‘He’s similar.
He's similar to our human.
He’s similar to me.
He’s similar to our family.
That light is similar to us.
That means that the Dragon half-blood is one of us.’
He could see something black inside the white gold light.
It was an extremely curled up black lump.
It was not shining.
But it looked too shabby to be something scary.
Raon could see that black lump of smoke starting to crack.
‘No!’
He really could not let this happen.
Oooooo-
His mana roared.
He created a shield.
A black shield surrounded the black lump.
One layer.
It was not enough.
Two layers.
Three layers.
He created an endless number of shields.
Crack!
Of course, the outermost shield broke even as he continued to create more shields.
‘It does not matter!
I don’t know how to make an Indestructible Shield like our human.
I also don't know how to use protect as an attribute like my mom.’
However-
‘I can use magic right now.’
Boom. Boom. Boom.
‘The endless mana coming toward me…’
All of the mana in this world came toward Raon.
It reacted with the beating of his heart.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Yes.
‘This world is my mana.
And if the mana of the world helps me…
Just like how my human helped to change my fate…
I can change it!’
At that moment…
Craaaaaaack-!
The half-transparent black shield surrounding the castle wall cracked.
Crack, crack–!
Five shields surrounding the Dragon half-blood instantly disappeared.
Drip.
Raon ignored the blood dripping down from his nose.
His head felt hot.
He also ignored that.
He was not trying to be like his human.
It was not right to see and learn from the things the adults did wrong.
Things that hurt did hurt.
Things that were hard were hard.
Raon would be a Dragon who knew how to admit when things hurt, a Dragon who knew how to rest and not push himself too much.
But most importantly, he would become a Dragon who could protect those that were important to him.
‘No matter what!’
As he clenched his two front paws into fists…
Boom!
The whole world rumbled.
The air around the castle walls shook intensely.
No, it was the mana rumbling.
“My goodness!”
No.
It wasn’t the mana that had rumbled.
“This little punk!”
He heard Eruhaben's sad…
Yet delighted voice.
“You smart little punk!”
Craaaaaaack-
The shield surrounding the castle wall broke.
Smile.
But Raon still smiled.
Ancient Dragon shouted almost in a screech and extended his arms forward.
“The mana has become stable!”
There was something Raon had learned from his human, who always tried to carry all of the burden by himself.
It was the fact that Raon was not alone.
If the mana of the world would help him….
His friends would also help him.
That was why there was only one thing for Raon to ask of the mana that listened to him.
‘Please stop running wild.
Please help me and my friends to cast shields.’
Drip.
Raon smiled despite the blood dripping down from his nose.
"Cast your shields!”
Eruhaben was already casting his shield as he said that.
A beautiful golden shield was created.
Ooooooooo—
Ooooo—
That was the beginning.
The now stable mana around the castle wall listened to the will of the Dragons.
Rasheel's grey shield.
Even the enemy Dragons’ red, orange, and other colored shields.
All of the Dragons except Mila had cast their shields.
The human mages participated as well.
Enemies and allies alike all started to protect the castle walls.
After seeing this, Eruhaben focused not just on the castle walls but the center of the explosion as well. He also cast shields toward that spot.
One layer, two layers…
He created an endless number of shields.
The Dragon half-blood.
He needed to save that bastard.
His soul was breaking.
He needed to protect that soul from the explosion before it disappeared.
“You little punk-!”
Eruhaben had chills all over his body.
He was thrilled.
‘The mana-!
I thought that he would try to save everybody on his own because he could freely use magic!
But he stabilized the mana?
All of this mana that was running wild?
Fuck!’
He couldn't help but swear.
This little kid was even more amazing than he had expected.
What was mana?
To Dragons, mana was like their heart.
Mana was the one thing Dragons knew how to handle even without learning anything from the moment they were born. It was similar to breathing.
‘But he can handle mana to this level?’
This was completely different from using a lot of mana to cast an amazing spell.
Eruhaben's whole body was tingling right now.
He had never seen so many Dragons cast spells at the same time like this throughout his entire life.
The pressure from countless shields layered together was something that sent shivers down this ancient Dragon’s body.
‘And Raon was the one who set the foundation for this situation!
Ha.
Unbelievable.’
He had always said that Raon was Dragon Lord material.
However, he could only think that this young Dragon was the true Dragon Lord.
The center of the mana that numerous Dragons were using right now was created by this little young Dragon.
How could you not call the existence that created the foundation as the center?
His attribute, the present.
Raon, who could use his magic no matter the situation.
This was to be expected.
Mana was Raon and Raon was mana.
It was something obvious for the child whose plate was the world.
‘Ah.’
The ancient Dragon bit down on his lips.
He couldn't just stand here in excitement.
Cale-
The Dragon half-blood-
Raon-
He had no idea what would happen to all of them in the current situation.
‘I can't be the one to survive.
If someone is to die, I should be the first to die.’
Because of that-
Oooooo-
Dust and magic cast out from Eruhaben's two hands.
Drip.
Raon was watching all of this without being able to wipe the blood dripping down from his nose.
The aftershock of the explosion was still going.
When would it stop?
Baaaaaang–!
He couldn't tell the situation outside the castle walls.
He couldn't see it.
Paaaat!
Paat!
Ooooo–
The numerous shields layering on top of each other made it impossible to see outside anymore.
Dozens of different colored shields were layered on top of each other.
“Hehe-”
Raon laughed.
It was black.
All of the colors layering on top of each other swallowed the light and turned black.
Raon did not have a shield inside that black shield anymore.
Raon’s shields were only being used to protect the Dragon half-blood's black soul.
Craaaack-
He felt his shield breaking.
He could tell even without being able to see it.
The explosion was still swallowing up the Dragon half-blood.
Goldie gramps and Raon continued to create an endless number of shields.
Drip.
He was sweating.
Raon also ignored that and focused.
He couldn't calm all of the world’s mana.
At least he could not do that ‘yet.’
But he continued to stabilize the mana in this area.
He also continued to create shields for the Dragon half-blood.
He did all of this without any rest.
“…….”
Raon closed his eyes and focused.
‘I can't rest.
Yes.
Let’s keep going.
Let’s even push back the concern for our human for now.
There’s nothing I can do for the human right now even if I went over to him.
Let’s focus on the things I can do.’
Raon focused even more.
Inside this world with his eyes closed…
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He was so focused that he could only hear his own heart.
All of the surrounding noises disappeared.
Raon focused on the beating of his heart.
He did not stop.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He created shields.
He stabilized the mana.
Yes.
He did not rest.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
He continued to only hear the sound of his heart.
“Ah.”
Raon flinched.
‘No.’
Raon realized something.
‘It's quiet.’
His surroundings had become quiet.
‘Maybe-’
Raon slowly opened his eyes.
Pat.
He felt a hand on his shoulder at the same time.
The darkness had disappeared.
“Ah-”
The black shield surrounding the castle walls was gone.
The world was still full of chaos from the cataclysmic period, but…
He could see the sun shining down from gaps in the ash-colored clouds.
Oooooo– oooooo–
He could also see the black soul wrapped underneath black and gold shields.
It was cracked, but it still existed.
“Little kid.”
The ancient Dragon spoke to him.
“It’s over.”
Raon scowled.
His chubby cheeks resembled squished dumplings.
However, neither the ancient Dragon, Raon, or anybody else could just stand there being happy that they successfully survived the explosion.
Cale.
And the Dragon half-blood.
Raon and Eruhaben moved urgently toward one person and one soul.
The enemy was gone, but…
‘Our family cannot disappear.’
This silence was truly dreadful.
In the peace that finally came after an intense battle…
Raon looked toward Cale in the silence.
“Huff. Huff.”
Cale had not fainted.
He had not lost consciousness.
He could see Mila’s shaking hands as she pulled out thin beige threads to connect together no matter what it took.
“Gasp.”
Raon made eye contact with Cale at that moment.
Actually, that was not possible.
The human’s eyes were not focused at all.
They just happened to look at him.
Raon could see his human, who could not see him right now, opening his mouth.
His human was speaking in an annoyed voice.
“…Dragon half-blood… You fucker, I will not let you… die… Without even hearing… your name……”
Raon felt as if Cale was talking to him.
“…Y, you think I will die, like this……?”
Raon smiled brightly as he listened to Cale's faint voice that sounded as if it would stop at any moment.
“As expected of our human!”
Boom!
The world then started to shake.
“!”
Raon felt chills all over his body.
The shocked young Dragon didn't know what to do as he had never felt such an intense aura in his life before.
It was not just Raon.
Everybody in this area had never felt such an intense aura before.
Life.
This large area felt like life itself.
How could this be explained?
As everybody's eyes filled with chaos…
Boom.
The world shook once more.
And…
“Huh?”
The sky opened…
And the ground cracked.
A five-colored radiant light shot down from the sky and up from the ground.
“…F…uc…k……”
Cale was full of annoyance as he felt that aura.
The foundation of this world.
It was the aura that had wanted to use Cale as an air purifier.
