Chapter 1136 — Book 2: Chapter 333: Me? (4)
14 min read ·
Choi Jung Gun.
The last traces they saw of him was his arm they found in the Temple of the God of Chaos.
The letter they saw through the magic circle or weird formation next to his arm…
‘I am taking the owner of this arm. Don’t worry, I will keep him alive. His arm was already cut off so I will leave it here. Isn’t it needed for you to find his traces? Come look for me if you are concerned about him.’
The Great Thief of the Night.
Those were words left behind by the leader of the Arbitrators, the group Cotton was a part of.
Cale asked Cotton again.
“Me?”
“Yeah. You.”
Cotton answered lightheartedly.
Cale responded just as lightheartedly.
“I don’t want to.”
He was very firm.
“…Shouldn’t you at least think about it for a minute?”
“I don’t want to.”
Cale just answered that he didn’t want to do so.
It could not be helped.
‘The Great Thief of the Night.’
This leader was a member of the Demonic race.
Furthermore, the leader was the only heir to a former Demon King!
‘Plus, the current Demon King is working with the Hunter bastards to do some pretty rotten things.’
Of course, the Demon World was on the same side as the Divine World and the Wanderers right now but had taken a bit of a step back.
‘But that’s pretty much the same thing.’
Going to the Demon World in such a situation?
– Cale. I have a bad feeling about this.
Yes.
It was exactly as the Super Rock said.
– You-
The Super Rock could not keep speaking.
The glutton priestess calmly continued in his place.
– If you take a single step into the Demon World, based on how things have been for you until now, you're going to end up fighting the current Demon King in the Demon World.
‘…Haven't you not said much until now?’
The priestess did not answer Cale’s question.
But the cheapskate started to speak in an unsettled tone.
– Mm. And then you will probably go beyond the Demon World to the Divine World and the World of the Gods. At least based on the pattern of behavior you have shown until now.
The glutton priestess chimed in again.
– Hasn’t he already been to the World of the Gods by visiting the God of Death's office? Furthermore, he had already met a lot of gods. It was hard to avoid the World of the Gods.
– …Hey. Why are you suddenly saying all these right things?
– I am always right.
The cheapskate seemed flabbergasted at the glutton priestess’s answer and could not say anything.
Someone else, who had been quiet, suddenly interrupted.
– Hehe. The World of the Gods would be the perfect place to go fuck up a god. The God of War. I need to fuck that motherfucker up no matter what.
The Sky Eating Water.
Nobody answered her clear voice.
They all pretended not to hear her.
– Cale.
The Super Rock commented after a bit of silence.
– You, I clearly remember you saying that you will take care of the Hunters and then be done. Your goals are the Hunters and the omnipotent god.
Yes.
That was true.
– There’s no need for you to take the burden of the World of the Gods, Demon World or anything else. That’s up for them to figure out.
‘He’s right.
Yes.
Let’s take his advice to heart.
Right now… I can't go to the Demon World!’
His years of experience were speaking to him.
Something else would happen if he went.
As such, he needed to hold himself back.
Cale sternly answered Cotton.
“I have no intentions of going there so we either meet somewhere else or maybe your leader can come to me.”
But someone else answered instead.
“I think you will need to go to the Demon World.”
Cale flinched and turned his head.
The one to speak was Choi Jung Soo.
He let out a deep sigh and plopped down on the couch.
“My ancestor, umm, Choi Jung Gun, wait, what am I supposed to call him?”
Cale's expression instantly turned unsettled.
Choi Jung Soo shamelessly looked right back at him before forming a resolution.
“I’ll just call him grandpa! My grandfather! I don’t know whether he is my great-grandfather or great-great-grandfather, but he’s a grandpa either way!”
"And?”
A low voice echoed out.
Choi Jung Soo flinched.
Cale flinched as well.
Cotton quietly blinked a few times before turning toward the direction of the voice and flinching.
Choi Han.
He was smiling innocently while looking at Choi Jung Soo.
“…….”
Choi Jung Soo slowly avoided Choi Han's gaze and looked at Cale.
“Mm.”
He was unable to say anything for a bit before he sighed and answered.
“Grandpa has not regained his consciousness still.”
“Choi Jung Gun?”
Choi Jung Soo nodded his head at Cale's question.
“Yeah. But hold on.”
Choi Jung Soo scowled.
“Is it okay for you to call my ancestor like that?”
“I called him by name last time.”
Of course, that was with the Choi Jung Gun he met in the sealed god’s test, but…
“Ah. Is that so?”
Choi Jung Soo moved on as if it wasn’t a big deal but still could not look at Choi Han.
Furthermore, it felt like the temperature around Choi Jung Soo was slowly getting colder.
His face slowly stiffened.
“If it is just him being unconscious, there wouldn't be much issues, but-”
‘Ah, damn it.’
Cotton started to answer after seeing Choi Jung Soo being unable to do so.
“According to my leader, pollution is starting to happen.”
“Pollution?”
What did that mean?
Cale's gaze sank while Cotton quickly started to explain.
“My leader said that they tried to save Choi Jung Gun. He was a wanderer fighting those bastards from the Five Colors Bloods, so it was determined that he would be helpful to us. That was the reason she left the letter as well.”
However, a problem arose.
“His body is starting to become dyed grey.”
Grey.
Cale, Choi Han, and On all instantly reacted.
“The grey pollution that started around the shoulder where his arm was cut off slowly started to spread throughout his body. My leader was able to figure out the cause. It is something we have already experienced many times.”
Cotton and Cale made eye contact.
“The pollution of chaos.”
Choi Han, who had been quietly listening, started to speak.
“Is it the God of Chaos?”
“Yes.”
Choi Jung Gun had been found at the Temple of the God of Chaos.
“Our Arbitrators have faced the pollution of chaos many times while fighting against our enemies. That is why we were able to come up with a method to slow down this pollution.”
Cale asked after Cotton finished speaking.
“But delaying does not mean fully recovering, does it?”
“…That is correct.”
Cotton’s face stiffened up.
“We have lost a few of our people to the pollution until now.”
The pollution of chaos was something even the only bloodline of the former Demon King could not fix.
"The reason we are asking you to come over to the Demon World, Cale, is because we are unable to remove Choi Jung Gun from the magic circle we created to delay the pollution from spreading.”
"That magic circle is in the Demon World?”
“Yes. Choi Jung Gun's life will be in danger if we remove him from there as the pollution will rapidly spread.”
Silence filled the room.
“Fuck…….”
Choi Jung Soo's quiet swearing echoed through the room.
“Choi Jung Soo.”
“Yeah.”
Cale looked at Choi Jung Soo and asked.
“Have you tried contacting the God of Death?”
The pollution of chaos.
If that was a power associated with the God of Chaos, wouldn’t another god like the God of Death be able to help?
“The God of Death said he doesn’t know what it is and that he will look into it.”
Choi Jung Soo sighed as he answered.
“The God of Chaos, as you should have heard last time as well… He has basically not shown himself in the World of the Gods to the point that he is called a recluse. That is why not much is known about his abilities.”
Cale stared at Cale before speaking.
"But you look like you got some information?”
Choi Jung Soo shrugged his shoulders.
“I really can't hide anything from you.”
Cale retorted back.
“The team leader-nim must have found something.”
Choi Jung Soo had said that.
‘Team leader-nim also contacted us. He seems to have found something in the basement of the Temple of the God of Chaos.’
Cale asked him a question.
"What did he find in the basement?”
The answer came from someone else.
“I found the paths of power used by the God of Chaos.”
Cale looked toward the door.
Sui Khan was walking in.
Swipe. Swipe.
Cale didn’t know where he came from, but he was brushing dirt off his shoulders. There was a bag slung on his shoulder.
Sui Khan had looked through the basement of the Temple of the God of Chaos with Chope.
“We found a Holy Text of Chaos and information about the God of Chaos in the secret area within the basement.”
“Information pertinent to our current situation?”
Sui Khan smoothly continued after hearing Cale’s question.
“The followers of the God of Chaos are able to get many different types of holy powers.”
Sui Khan put the bag down.
“The actual powers seem to change based on the type of holy power, but… It can be organized into three major paths.”
Boom-!
The bag opened with a thud and revealed multiple slate boards.
"First power, pollution.”
There were three total images on the slate boards.
"Second power, pleasure.”
First came pollution.
Then pleasure.
And the last one……
“Third power, fear.”
Cale recalled a skill he received.
[Skill: Fear of Chaos (Deactivated)]
The power the Dominating Aura gained through the Saint of the God of Chaos.
Sui Khan continued to speak.
“Most of the basement was already destroyed, so we were not able to get much information. Most of the Holy Text was burnt as well and not much remained. I think-”
He looked at Cotton as he spoke.
“I think Choi Jung Gun ambushed the Hunters while they were destroying the Temple of the God of Chaos and then the Arbitrators launched their attacks. The Hunters were not able to destroy the temple properly because they were running away, which allowed us to get some information. Is that right?”
“Mm. I am able to say it is mostly correct.”
Cotton answered and then addressed Cale.
“At the longest, we are able to stop the pollution from spreading for five months with the magic circle.”
The meaning behind those words were simple.
If five months pass and all of Choi Jung Gun's body becomes polluted…
“Choi Jung Gun will die in five months if you can't figure something out.”
As Choi Jung Soo and Choi Han’s gazes sank down…
“But there does seem to be a way.”
Cale looked at Sui Khan.
He then extended his hand.
Shh.
The slate boards that appeared as the bag was put on the floor…
They were all standing up.
These were white marble slate boards. While looking at the slate board in the front… Cale saw a weird picture drawn on it.
He looked at Sui Khan and had a twisted smile on his face.
“Team leader, doesn’t this look like a purification ritual?”
Choi Jung Soo and Choi Han turned toward the slate board as well.
Grey water wrapping around a grey person…
The water had numerous eyes on it.
Sui Khan silently extended his hand to show the slate board behind the first one.
That one was basically broken in half, but…
They could see one thing clearly.
Cotton subconsciously mumbled.
“He got healed-”
The human who was wrapped up by the grey water was drawn to have returned to his normal skin color.
Cale knew what he needed to say and said it out loud.
“So it’s not that the pollution cannot be cured.”
A method existed.
“I guess we will find a way to save him as we dig into the God of Chaos.”
“Umm-”
Cotton cautiously asked.
“How are you going to dig into the God of Chaos?”
“That, well there is a way.”
The Saint of the God of Chaos.
When the Dominating Aura swallowed his power…
What happened to Cale when he tried to digest that power?
‘Game log in.’
Cale had ended up inside the Virtual Reality game while trying to gain that power.
That led to meeting Count Ruiphe and all sorts of other things, but…
Either way…
‘The Saint has a close relationship with the game.’
Just as the Hunters were doing some things inside the game, the Saint must be active somewhere in the game as well.
‘I'm sure I'll run into that bastard if I keep gaming.’
While taking care of the Transparent Bloods, it would only be natural to figure out the enemies accessing the game through them.
“There is a way? What is the way?”
Cotton's eyes filled with a sense of urgency.
She had lost a few friends through this pollution.
Even if she didn’t know the details, she wanted to at least know the process to figure out the answer.
“Why should I tell you that right now?”
“Huh?”
As she blankly asked back, Cale said this instead.
"We are heading to the Demon World.”
He needed to check on Choi Jung Gun's condition.
“Tell your leader to make some time.”
He also needed to chat with the leader of the Arbitrators, the one with the bloodline of the former Demon King.
“The New World that you are looking for… As well as the plan to resolve the pollution, I’ll tell you all of that.”
Cotton's eyes fluctuated.
Cale looked at her as he continued to speak.
“In return, you guys will need to think about what you can do for us as well.”
Gulp. Cotton gulped before nervously nodding her head.
‘His gaze……’
Cale's vicious gaze was warning her to not have any foolish thoughts.
“Okay. I'll share your wishes to the leader. However, it will be difficult to head to the Demon World right away.”
She immediately continued after seeing Cale getting ready to say something.
“It is not easy, even for me, to go to the Demon World! I'm human! There are a lot of things we need to prepare for humans to go roam around the Demon World. So we will need three or four days. I’ll get things prepared as quickly as possible!”
Cale just nodded his head as she rattled on.
“Okay. I got it.”
Cotton's face was about to light up when Cale made another comment.
“Then get to work.”
“Huh?”
“Hurry up and get things ready. We don't have any time to waste, do we?”
“Huh?”
“I don’t think this is the time to sit around relaxing?”
“N, no it isn’t?”
“Then?”
“I, I'm going!”
Cotton jumped up and quickly started to move.
Cale watched Cotton’s back as she moved away and smiled twistedly.
On knew that this was Cale's angry face.
“On.”
On had her head on Cale’s knees.
"Go to the Heinous Dark Bear and ask him to thoroughly search New World for any information on the God of Chaos. Tell him to cooperate with the Third Evil to proceed with this.”
“Meeeeeow!”
On nimbly moved away from Cale.
Cale then looked at Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo.
Finally, he made eye contact with Sui Khan.
Sui Khan spoke first.
“Five months-”
“That’s plenty.”
Cale answered with a nonchalant look as if it was obvious.
“Three months max.”
Forget five months…
“I’ll take care of things within that time.”
Choi Jung Soo and Choi Han's sunken gazes slowly filled with an odd light.
Sui Khan smiled.
Although they had three or four days of time before heading to the Demon World…
He could not immediately head back to Roan.
There were lots of things to still do in Aipotu.
“I-”
Cale, who had moved to take care of one of those things, blankly opened his mouth with a teacup in his hand.
“I- umm, a religion?”
No.
“That, not a religion, but-”
“Umm, you want to build a temple to worship me?”
Click.
The person across from Cale put a tea cup down.
The religion that had been worshiping the 10 Dragon Gods…
Pope Casillia was the leader of that religion.
The leader of the Dragon half-bloods smiled as she answered.
“The temple has already been made.”
Cale subconsciously asked.
“Why?”
‘No.
Wow.’
Cale was at a loss for words.
Casillia smiled as she answered.
“The Five Colored Lights.”
Aipotu had changed.
No, it had returned to how it had been two hundred years ago.
That day, the ground flipped over and all sorts of mysterious changes had happened.
People had shaken in fear.
But suddenly a five-colored radiant light had enveloped the lands and sky of the entire continent.
Then the world had returned.
Peace had arrived.
That five-colored radiant light…
“The Five Colored Lights. That is the name of the god of our new religion.”
Cale clenched his eyes shut.
“Hoo hoo.”
Clopeh Sekka, who was standing behind as his guard, was laughing while dressed as a priest.
