Chapter 1184 — Book 2: Chapter 381: I'm sure it was not enough (6)
15 min read ·
The Lan Kingdom, the third of the three strongs including the Eastern and Western Empires.
This kingdom that was known as the land of martial artists had an especially special place called the Holy Land within the palace.
The Lan Kingdom’s Holy Land.
That was a place only the ruler and their family could freely enter, and anybody else needed permission from the ruler to enter.
The current Queen, Tamahi.
And her husband, Prince Consort Hin Pao.
Cale peeked at the half-transparent window.
[Skill: Fear of Chaos (Deactivated)]
Sub quest 1. [Steal the power of chaos]
‘Sir Hin Pao appeared in Serisa’s memories.’
Although Serisa was officially known as a bishop of the Church of the Sun God…
She had been a believer of the God of Chaos.
Cale had met her at the academy in the Western Empire's capital and had received a hint regarding the Holy Land from her memories.
‘Sir Hin Pao has a map to the Holy Land.’
Serisa had received her orders from the Holy Land and Sir Hin Pao had been the one to lead her there.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
He could hear water.
Cale raised his head and looked around.
“This must be that lake.”
The center of the Lan Kingdom.
A lake was there with a small island at the center of it.
The Queen and her close family resided on this island.
“How amazing.”
Alberu looked at the lake as if he was quite amused.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-
Water was flowing despite it being a lake.
This lake was as large as multiple tournament stages put together.
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
The surface of the lake was not calm.
In fact there were many different flows of water crashing and wrapping around each other.
Cale watched this and mischievously commented.
"You would probably die if you fell in?”
Queen Tamahi calmly answered.
“Yes sir. You would die.”
“Mm.”
Cale flinched.
Tamahi didn’t care and walked toward the lake without any hesitation.
“The Silent Lake.”
That was the name of the Holy Land.
“Water flows as it pleases without rest underneath the surface that cannot be seen.”
“Sometimes, they crash into and fight each other.”
“Other times, they embrace each other and become one. However…”
“Water does not end up becoming one and it does not stop.”
Descriptions of the Silent Lake flowed out of her mouth.
“It is like the sea.”
The surface was like the sea.
“It can even become a swamp.”
The people who got swept up by the water would feel as if they were being dragged into a swamp.
“Those who fall into this place will find their silence through the endlessly fighting water.”
Silence.
Alberu mumbled that word before speaking.
“Silence means death.”
"That is correct.”
There was an island at the center of the lake, but there wasn't a single boat headed there.
Queen Tamahi looked at the guards at a distance before looking at Alberu, Cale, and her only subordinate to come with her, Cha Run, before stepping into the lake.
"But there is a path to avoid death.”
Splash.
The moment her shoe touched the surface of the lake…
Shaaaaaaaaaaa-
Through the sound of water…
Drip. Drip. Drip.
They could hear drops of water.
– Hoo.
Cale could hear the Sky Eating Water gasp and looked up.
Water drops suddenly appeared in the air.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
The water drops were all making one line.
They then fell to the surface of the lake.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
They then created a path in front of Tamahi.
Without fighting, without embracing…
The quietly fallen water drops created a silent path.
It was a path wide enough for two people to walk side by side.
“Please come this way.”
Tamahi extended her hand and Cha Run, Alberu, and Cale followed in that order.
Splash.
Cale placed his foot on the only silent part of this lake that continued to make noises.
‘Mm.’
Cale felt an odd sensation at that moment.
[You have arrived in a sealed region.]
The status window kindly explained to him.
[In this region (The Silent Lake and island exempted) no magic or aura can be used.]
[Only those with permission are allowed to enter.]
Ah.
This must have been what she meant when she said that someone could not use magic to fly over the lake to arrive on the island.
Squish, squish.
He felt like he was walking down a slightly wet dirt path.
Cale took a breath of the refreshing air as he walked.
‘Hmm?’
He then flinched after seeing crown prince Alberu in front of him.
‘What is going on?’
The sword on Alberu’s side…
This sword that was covered by the scabbard, the Sun Sword, was a divine item of the Sun God that only the hero could use.
Sparkle.
It was faintly glowing underneath the scabbard.
‘No.
Why does it look like it is absorbing light?’
It oddly felt like the light around them was heading toward the sword.
“Oh.”
Cale was amazed.
“What is it?”
Alberu reacted at Cale's voice and turned around before flinching.
“…Why?”
Why do you have such a look on your face?
Seeing Alberu being unable to say that out loud made Cale snicker.
“It’s nothing, your highness.”
‘I'll tell him later.’
Cale decided on that and smiled innocently.
“…Haaa.”
Alberu let out a deep sigh before turning around.
‘What is up with him?’
Cale scowled, feeling like he got cursed at for no reason.
But he soon had to get rid of the scowl.
‘Prince Consort Hin Pao.’
There were many stylish pavilions on the island.
They weren't flashy, but they felt very quiet yet dignified the closer they got.
Every blade of grass, every single flower…
Everything was in perfect harmony. And although no jewels or gold could be seen…
“Ah-”
The harmony was so beautiful that even crown prince Alberu gasped in admiration.
“Your Majesty.”
The Prince Consort had come out to greet the Queen.
‘He’s known for being extremely dedicated.’
Hin Pao, who was from a pretty influential noble family, had put down all power and authority since becoming Tamahi's husband to focus on his duties as the Prince Consort.
‘But he is a believer of the God of Chaos.’
He was one who was cooperating with the Five Colors Bloods to keep an eye on the Queen.
“Your Majesty. Are these sirs the heroes who blocked the Cooperative Alliance?”
Sir Hin Pao looked more like a scholar than a martial artist.
Unlike the strong-looking Queen Tamahi, his slightly pale complexion made people think of a fluttering flower petal when they looked at him.
“That is correct.”
The Queen smiled and took a step onto the ground.
Cha Run politely greeted Hin Pao. Alberu was behind him.
Cale, who was in the way back making his appearance was hidden, slowly revealed himself.
Hin Pao.
He was smiling gently.
Smile.
Cale smiled picturesquely as well.
“?”
However, Hin Pao soon looked confused.
Cale didn't greet him.
Alberu didn’t greet him either.
These two regular folks were not greeting the Prince Consort.
He hesitated for a moment but he maintained his peaceful smile and looked toward the Queen.
“Your Majesty. Could you please introduce them to me?”
His gentle voice was refined and calm.
“Mm.”
Queen Tamahi’s face looked a bit concerned when she opened her mouth.
Cale had told her that he would take care of the rest if she brought him here to meet the Prince Consort.
‘I didn't expect him to come out to greet us.’
The fact that the Prince Consort so warmly came out here by himself without his guards was out of her expectations.
That should mean that he was that curious about these two people who had defeated So Hee.
“These people-”
As Queen Tamahi started to speak…
“Oh guide.”
Cale said a single sentence.
“!”
Tamahi saw something for the first time.
“!”
She had never seen such a disturbed look on Prince Consort Hin Pao's face before.
It was similar to the surface of the water in this Holy Land.
Intense emotions were visible on his face.
"Guide?”
As the Queen repeated that word…
Cale took some steps forward.
“Or should I call you messenger?”
Guide or messenger.
It meant that Hint Pao was not just a regular believer but someone with a position in the Church of the God of Chaos.
Cale continued to speak to the flustered Hin Pao.
“The Night of the Beginning.”
Hin Pao's face instantly changed.
Oooooo-
Grey aura started to rise from his body.
“You dare to say that name-!”
The Night of the Beginning.
That was the name of the Holy Land of the God of Chaos.
"Who are you?”
A weapon wrapped in a grey aura started to form in Hin Pao's hand.
Different from the time with Bishop Serisa, it was a long spear.
“Ho!”
Cha Run became shocked and stood in front of the Queen.
Prince Consort Hin Pao.
He was known to not know any martial arts.
“Me?”
However, Cale continued to walk toward Hin Pao.
Alberu followed behind him as if to guard him, but Cale didn't care.
He was waiting for something.
[You have made contact with the Guide of Chaos (Sir Hin Pao)!]
The quest alarm came up.
‘I'm not flustered anymore.’
Cale saw the sentence he saw last time.
[‘Skill: Fear of Chaos (Legend)’ is being used.]
This sentence had appeared when he fought against Bishop Serisa.
[*Although it is an AOE skill, it will only be used on ‘Hin Pao’ this time for the progression of the quest.]
It was a legend skill that was only temporarily unlocked to proceed with the quest.
Oooooo– oooooo–
The grey aura rose up with an eerie sound.
“!”
It was truly different from the time with Serisa.
“H, how, this power-”
Hin Pao recognized this power.
[If the Fear of Chaos is used on a believer of the God of Chaos, there is a low chance (30%) of the opponent being deluded and dominated.]
[The rate will change based on the mastery level of the skill.]
[Current skill mastery level: F (However, it will temporarily be fluctuated to A for the progression of the quest)]
He was not deluded immediately.
[The opponent successfully resisted!]
The skill failed.
As a result-
Baaaaang!
Cale could see a grey spear heading toward him.
There was a loud noise and Cale took a step back.
“He is quite strong.”
Alberu had moved in front of Cale at some point to block the spear.
His main weapon, the white spear, was starting to crack.
Craaaaaaack-
“You dare to use that mighty power!”
Sir Hin Pao swung his spear again.
Ooooooooo—
One thing was clear about this grey aura gathering around him.
‘He is stronger than I am!’
Queen Tamahi could feel Hin Pao’s true abilities.
A believer of the God of Chaos who deals with the Five Colors Bloods.
It would be bad if he was weak.
‘It wasn’t just the wanderers aiming for our kingdom!’
Tamahi finally realized that the one trying to swallow this kingdom was the Church of the God of Chaos that was in between them and the wanderers, keeping an eye on them.
“Your Majesty!”
“Protect her majesty!”
Their family and guards tried to approach, but…
“Stop!”
Tamahi stopped them and pulled out her sword.
“Martial Scholar, step back!”
“Yes, your Majesty!”
Cha Run recognized that his level of abilities would not be of any assistance and quickly withdrew while Tamahi charged toward where Alberu and Hin Pao were fighting.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Her heart was beating wildly.
‘I'm scared!’
She was feeling scared right now.
Oooooo– oooooo–
Hin Pao’s spear art was strong but it was the things coming out of this grey aura that made her full of fear.
“Mm.”
Alberu groaned.
Spear arts.
Aura.
Power.
Every aspect of Hin Pao was stronger than Alberu's spear art.
‘I can’t use my magic.’
Alberu was planning on holding out as long as possible rather than showing everything he had. He wasn’t even thinking about the Sun Sword.
He moved his spear with a stoic look on his face.
“I'll help!”
Queen Tamahi swung her sword to get involved at that time.
"That’s okay, your Majesty.”
However, Alberu declined her.
"What?”
Tamahi was confused.
“How arrogant! You will have to spill everything out of your mouths!”
Hin Pao swung the spear a little stronger.
His mind was in a rush right now.
‘The wanderer, So Hee, was captured.’
The fact that she was suddenly captured like this must mean that there was an issue with their plan.
Furthermore, he also heard that Bishop Serisa was imprisoned by the Church of the Sun God.
‘This situation-’
He was certain it was because of these bastards.
Alberu and Cale…
Hin Pao's gaze sank deeply while looking at the two of them.
Guide.
The one who knows the way to the Holy Land.
Cale had mentioned that title and the name of the Holy Land.
Hin Pao knew that he needed to quickly escape, but he could not run away because he figured out Cale's identity.
‘He also copied the Saint-nim’s power.’
No.
It wasn’t copying.
‘It was similar to the Saint-nim in his early days.’
A genius Saint that the Church of the God of Chaos may never see again…
He had been able to use the power of chaos to a high level from the moment he awakened the power.
But this bastard in front of him was using just as much of that power.
‘Who the hell is he?’
There was only one Saint in the world.
That was why-
‘Who is this bastard?
Is he a believer of the God of Chaos?
Is he an ally?
No.’
That was not possible.
Why would this guy use the power of chaos on an ally?
In addition, he was not just a regular believer, but the guide.
‘Maybe-’
Did our god do something?
Has something happened without my knowledge?
‘What is going on?
…Seriously, what is going on?’
Hin Pao could not run away. But he also could not fight at full power. His mind started to turn chaotic.
It was at that moment.
“We can capture him if we work together!”
As Queen Tamahi did not miss that opening and addressed Alberu again…
“I don’t think it is our turn, your Majesty.”
Alberu said that and stepped back.
“!”
Hin Pao became confused, but…
Alberu made eye contact with Cale again as he withdrew.
“!”
Queen Tamahi could now feel true fear.
Hin Pao.
The fear she felt from him was definitely primal, one that made her feel like the nights she got scared when she was young.
‘That’s why I could ignore it.’
It was something she could overcome as she grew up.
However-
‘True fear-’
No.
Accurately speaking, this was not fear.
This was the feeling of her entire body being dominated.
The feeling that she needed someone’s permission to even breathe-
But still, this primal fear she could feel inside it…
It was similar to a herbivore being scared of predatory beasts and that fear becoming worse as they get older.
This was a fear that the more you know…no, it was a fear she did not want to know.
The moment she fell into this swamp, she would automatically feel the desire to be dominated.
“Ah.”
Tamahi felt an even greater fear and domination as she released the hand holding the sword.
As for Alberu, he was just shaking his head with his arms crossed.
“…T, this, what-”
The Dominating Aura had even made So Hee submit.
That power was focused on Hin Pao.
What Alberu and Queen Tamahi were feeling were just the overflowing aura.
"T, this is not the c, chaos that I know-”
Chaos was inside this power as well.
He could feel it trying to dominate him.
‘What is going on?’
His chaotic mind became worse and it eventually turned into fear.
Cale approached Hin Pao and used the skill again.
[‘Skill: Fear of Chaos (Legend)’ is being used.]
[Look into the opponent's eyes after putting them in a state of fear to read a portion of their memories.]
The skill succeeded.
Hin Pao was already in a state of fear after all.
[Skill : Dominating Aura (Grade : EX. Impossible to determine)]
The Fear of Chaos skill was at the legend grade, but…
The Dominating Aura was unranked. It prevented him from knowing the grade of the Dominating Aura, but…
It should at least be as strong as a legendary skill.
And-
[This skill is capable of growth.]
It was impossible to determine, but it was capable of growth.
[Reading her memories.]
[*As this is only a preview, you will only see memories related to the quest.]
[A believer completely dominated by the Fear of Chaos will move according to their final goal or mission.]
“Ahhhhh—”
Hin Pao screeched.
Cale did not care and continued to read his memories.
Guide.
The one who knows the map to their Holy Land, the Night of the Beginning.
That map naturally did not physically exist.
It simply existed inside his mind as a memory.
The Quest informed Cale of that memory to proceed.
[Acquired the map.]
Of course, it popped up in a window to make it convenient, but Cale did not need that.
He had already finished recording it in his mind.
Drip.
[A side effect has been discovered regarding the skill!]
[Side effect: Coughing up blood]
[*The side effect can be mitigated by raising the mastery level.]
[Current mastery level: 0]
[*Warning: Even with an increase in mastery level, it is highly likely that the side effect will happen based on the level of power utilized.]
Since he used his power two times-
Cale’s mouth opened on its own.
“Cough-”
He really coughed up blood.
“Haa, this is driving me nuts.”
Alberu sighed and helped support Cale.
“Cough, ugh!”
Alberu calmly addressed Cale who continued to cough up blood.
“He looks like he is about to explode.”
Cale barely managed to force his shaking body to stand up straight and looked forward.
Guide.
The one who knows the way to the Holy Land.
‘Fuck-’
His final mission was death in case the information was revealed.
– Cale, this explosion looks like it would be no joke!
As the Super Rock mentioned, this explosion seemed as if it would be quite intense.
Hin Pao had two final missions.
His own death for the information being revealed.
Also the death of the person who learned the information.
Cale didn’t know for sure, but he could make a hypothesis based on the grey aura wrapping around Hin Pao's body and boiling.
This looks like-
– Should I do something?
The Indestructible Shield calmly asked.
It looked as if he would need to use his shield again as he had done with Bishop Serisa.
“F, fuc, cough, fuuuuuck……!”
Cale needed to say what he wanted to say despite intensely coughing up blood.
