Chapter 1140 — Book 2: Chapter 337: What is your target, your end goal? (1)
13 min read ·
There was a black swamp on the ground.
The way the black swamp seemed to squirm made it extremely uncomfortable.
“This is the way to the Demon World?”
Cale asked.
“Yeah.”
Cotton gave a firm response.
“Let’s go.”
Choi Jung Soo urged Cale forward.
But Cale felt extremely leery.
Splash.
The black swamp splashed like a wave and some black liquids splattered out of it.
The liquid looked so viscous that it resembled jelly.
Screeeeeeeeeech—
The liquid let out a screech as it disappeared.
‘Disgusting.’
Cale's face turned even more unsettled.
“Human! Let’s hurry! I'm curious about the Demon World!”
“I'm curious too, nya!”
Raon and Hong urged Cale forward as well.
“Have a nice trip, nya.”
On stood next to Ron while waving at them.
Cale had been planning on taking On as well, but On had told him no.
‘I want to stay here.’
‘Why?’
On was going to stay here when Hong was going?
It was hard for Cale to believe, but…
‘I don’t completely trust that bear. I will protect Eden Miru.’
It was difficult for Cale to say no to that.
As a result…
‘Grandpa Ron will stay in Neo’s lair while I plan on staying at the boundary to look after Eden Miru.’
Ron and Beacrox would stay by On's side.
‘I'll take care of everything else.’
Eruhaben said that he would take care of the rest.
Because of that…
“Oho. This is the way to the Demon World?”
“Hey Rasheel, doesn’t it look fun?”
“Kahahaha! You're right, little kid! It looks fun!”
Rasheel ended up coming with Raon.
‘Me.
Hong and Raon.
Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo.
And-
“I'm looking forward to this.”
Mary as well.
‘I wish the team leader could come too.’
Sui Khan said that he would stay here to take a closer look through the Temple of the God of Chaos.’
There was also a plan to find the remaining traces of the God of Chaos in Aipotu as well.
Mila and the others would help by his side.
“Mm.”
Cale finally figured it out.
He understood why he was feeling so leery.
It was not just because of this gooey disgusting black swamp.
‘Yes, this set of members.’
He felt quite anxious about the group going with him.
‘At least Clopeh Sekka isn't here!
No.
Maybe it is a bigger issue leaving that guy behind here?’
Clopeh said that he would stay with the Pope, bishop, and the other Dragon half-bloods to control the discussion.
‘What is this uneasy feeling?
Is it really okay to leave that guy to do things?
Ah. I don’t know.’
Cale just decided to stop thinking about it.
Peek.
He peeked toward the path to the Demon World.
‘And-’
There was one other thing he was feeling uneasy about.
‘This truly feels like the Demon World even starting from the entrance.’
The image he had of Demon Worlds based on the novels he had read…
Seeing this black swamp of an entrance that truly fit that image, Cale felt like he was about to suffer quite a bit in the Demon World.
‘I guess it makes sense. How could it be easy when I'm going to meet the only bloodline of the former Demon King?’
The person Cale was going to see right now was probably the individual the current Demon King wanted to kill the most.
‘Feels so grim.’
Cale could not explain this uneasy feeling in his heart, but…
“Cale-nim.”
As Choi Han smiled innocently and called out his name…
‘I guess I have to go.’
He realized that he could not hesitate any longer.
Of course, it wasn’t because he got scared by Choi Han’s gaze.
– You're scared.
He ignored the glutton priestess, who seemed to talk a lot more these days.
Cale addressed Cotton.
“You go first.”
This was absolutely not because he did not trust this Deputy Chief Priest.
This was absolutely not because he didn’t want to be the first to enter this disgusting swamp.
“Okay! I’ll go first!”
Cotton’s face lit up after hearing that.
Cale naturally pretended not to see the look on her face that seemed to say that she suffered quite a bit under Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo's watch.
“I'm sure you've all already heard, but I will say it again.”
Cotton picked up the necklace around her neck as she addressed Cale's group.
"The Demon World is similar to the regular world, but also different.”
There was a black jewel on the necklace.
“Looking past the differences in natural environments, the air itself is different in the Demon World. Mana itself is different from the mana of the regular world. So make sure that you do not remove this necklace.”
The necklaces that Cotton gave to everybody was an item that would allow them to not be affected by the mana of the Demon World.
“It also allows automatic translation, so you will need it to communicate.”
The Demon World was different from the regular world, the Divine World, and the World of the Gods, so this necklace was required for communication.
"Then please think about the things I've mentioned one more time and ask me if you have any questions!”
Cotton then put her necklace back down and headed toward the black swamp.
“I'm going first!”
Splash!
Cotton cheerfully jumped into the black swamp and disappeared.
“Then me too.”
Choi Jung Soo followed behind her.
“The Demon World? Sounds entertaining!”
Rasheel did next.
“Noona, you don’t need to worry because I'll come back fine, nya!”
“We are great and mighty so we will return safely”
Hong and Raon disappeared into the black swamp as well.
“Please go ahead, Cale-nim. Mary and I will follow behind you.”
“…Okay.”
Something felt iffy but Cale still stepped into the black swamp.
Slip.
His body was sucked down.
Everything turned black.
‘Mm.’
However, there was no need to close his eyes.
The black swamp…
It turned more like a lake the more he was sucked in.
A lake full of black liquid.
Cale slowly descended down.
It felt as if he would reach the bottom of the lake.
However, the bottom never appeared.
– How pretty.
The glutton priestess commented on the beautiful sight that greeted Cale.
– It is sparkling.
This place did not have a bottom like a normal lake.
But lights started to sparkle in the black liquid one after another.
– It resembles the night sky.
Yes.
It resembled a black silk cloth full of sparkling stars, similar to the night sky.
Cale observed the beautiful sight as he continued to fall down this endless void.
– It is getting brighter.
The black silk slowly started to become brighter.
He could see the end.
A bright light filled Cale’s eyes.
‘It’s over there.’
Cale was wrapped around by that light.
He subconsciously closed his eyes.
“D*$)%”
His ears that had been dull as if he was submerged under water started to hear things again.
Cale opened his closed eyes.
The first thing he saw was…
– Grey.
It was a grey sky.
He had been told that the sky was grey in the Demon World.
Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-
A breeze blew by.
He slowly looked down from the sky.
He got chills down his spine.
– You’re falling.
Cale was currently falling down.
Grab!
But he was able to soon stop safely without crashing into the ground.
“…….”
Smile.
A large man with a horn smiled brightly with his teeth showing.
“Welcome.”
For reference, Cale was in that man’s arms.
Paat!
Paaaat!
Mary and Choi Han then appeared with flashes in the air.
Choi Han hugged Mary and gently landed on the ground.
Mary then got out of Choi Han's arms and stood on the ground.
Cale looked around.
Stare stare.
Hong and Raon were looking at him.
Cale opened his mouth for the first time since coming to the Demon World.
“…Please let me down.”
“Haha!”
The guy, who was even larger than Toonka, laughed loudly before carefully putting Cale down.
He then spoke with concern.
“Sir, I heard that you were extremely weak. Please be careful as the Demon World is an extremely difficult place to survive.”
“…….”
As Cale temporarily forgot what to say…
Raon quickly flew over and chimed in.
“That’s right! Our human is super super duper extra weak!”
“He's really weak, nya. He’s even weaker than wet paper, nya!”
‘Wait, hold on. I'm a bit sturdier now?
I consumed the aura of life and even my own plate!’
But Cale had no chance to answer.
He finally got a good look at his surroundings.
“Welcome.”
A woman walked over to him and offered him her hand.
The middle-aged woman seemed like a normal human like Cale.
However, the aura coming out of her was quite restricted; just looking into her golden eyes let Cale feel that this woman's life had not been easy.
“Nice to meet you.”
Although her smile seemed happy to meet him… It was oddly stiff and carried some weight.
Cale looked around and blankly mumbled before shaking her hand.
“I remember Cotton saying that we were heading for the cotton.”
“Yes, sir. This is the central headquarters.”
The woman in front of him…
She must be the Great Thief of the Night.
Even as an illegitimate child, she was the former Demon King’s only descendant…
She was also the leader of the Arbitrators, a group fighting against the Hunters and the wanderers.
From Deputy Chief Priest Cotton to Cale's uncle, the fake Hilsman…
She was the leader of all these difficult to handle people.
Such a member of the Demon race was the woman in front of him, but…
‘Hold on-’
Cale could not look at her.
He got a look at the central headquarters first.
He could also see the people greeting them.
‘Hold on-’
Cale could not easily shake her hand.
The cheapskate shouted.
– Hey, is this the central headquarters or a bum’s little tent?
The cheapskate continued to talk as if he couldn't believe it.
– And what is up with these people, no, these members of the Demonic race?!
He shouted in disbelief.
– They all look like bums! Look how dirty they are! Central headquarters my ass! They brought you to some homeless shelter!
That was correct.
Everything Cale could see was dirty and old, giving off a sense of poverty.
They resembled some neglected houses in the back mountains.
Everything was run down.
Some of the doors of the houses had fallen off and others had cracked windows.
It also felt so empty.
There wasn’t much of anything here.
This village in the center of a forest…
No, it seemed more like a deserted area than a village.
“…….”
Cale hesitated before shaking the Great Thief of the Night's hand.
“Nice to meet you.”
“Yes, sir. It’s an honor to meet such a great and mighty-”
Cale didn’t care what the Great Thief of the Night had to say and cut her off.
“Where is Choi Jung Gun?”
He had a weird feeling that they should quickly leave this place.
He felt like he finally knew why he had been feeling so uneasy.
“Ah. Mr. Choi Jung Gun is doing great. Haha, but you see…”
“Why don't we take a look at Choi Jung Gun first?”
“Haha. Yes sir, I will lead the way.”
But the woman in front of him was no joke.
The Great Thief of the Night was not letting go of Cale's hand.
“But based on what I have heard, I heard that you are very wealthy. Would you happen to have any thoughts about investing in our group?”
‘Ah.’
There was a reason he felt so uneasy.
“Hahahaha!”
“Hahaha!”
The Demonic race seemed quite exaggerated as they greeted Cale's group.
They were all laughing out loud and showed Cale's group their laughing faces.
All of them were wearing shabby clothes.
All of their armors and weapons showed significant wear and tear as if it would not be weird for them to break at any moment.
– Human, this place is scary! I don’t know why, but I am scared! Something, something! I feel like I need to protect my piggy bank!
That was correct.
As Raon mentioned, this was a scary place.
“Haha!”
The Great Thief of the Night.
The woman smiled as she answered.
“Based on what I have heard, you possess mines, sluuuurp. And, hehe, have significant wealth.”
‘What the?
This woman’s eyes are rolling over.
Years of experience my ass.’
The golden eyes were sparkling while looking at Cale.
Cale got scared after seeing someone, for the first time, looking at him as if he was some golden calf or a chunk of gold.
He truly was scared.
“Ah, by the way, my name is Aurora.”
Aurora, the Great Thief of the Night, smiled with as much goodwill as possible.
The former Demon King’s only descendant…
In order to live while hiding her identity in this world ruled by the current Demon King…
In order to fight against the current Demon King…
She needed a ton of money but did not have many ways to get it.
Furthermore, it took a lot of money to maintain this large organization known as the Arbitrators.
That was why she had to come down from a noble position to become the ‘Great Thief of the Night.’
Despite having lived a long time working for the greater good and the future, how would money not be tight?
At times, money was even scarier than the enemies.
No, as time goes on, money becomes the scariest thing.
But such a woman was looking at a chunk of gold.
Aurora was no longer a young girl, she was now a middle-aged woman.
Her years of experience were speaking to her.
‘A chunk of gold is in front of me!’
She could tell at a single glance that the guy in front of her had a ton of money.
“Haha!
Slurp.”
Aurora slurped while putting on a smile filled with as much goodwill as possible.
– Cale.
Cale stopped looking scared and his eyes slowly sank down.
– You need to remain fully alert.
Cale agreed with the cheapskate’s serious voice.
‘Yes, I really need to remain fully alert.’
He had no idea what he would need to do with these Arbitrators from here on.
However-
– We can’t waste money! We can’t have them take our money either! We suffered through so many things to gather this wealth! You persistently gathered all this money for your slacker future!
He would do his best to protect his money.
But if he could not protect his money-
– Then at least suck them dry in other ways!
Cale was being serious.
The cheapskate was serious as well.
This was the first time Cale and the cheapskate agreed like this.
A fire that would never go out was burning strong in his heart.
* * *
However, that fire soon sank down as a cold aura filled in his heart.
– …How dreadful.
As the Super Rock mentioned…
Choi Jung Gun looked terrible as he laid there in front of Cale.
The way his whole body was turning grey as he laid there with his eyes closed was so bad that even the Super Rock was calling it dreadful.
The parts of the body that had turned grey had veins sticking out and were covered in some sticky liquid that sort of resembled sweat.
There were also bumpy boil-like things in those areas as well.
Those boils were starting to rot.
The pollution of chaos.
Cale stared at Choi Jung Gun and understood why the only thing remaining at the end of this pollution of chaos was death.
He recalled the memories with Choi Jung Gun and…
The Great Thief, Aurora, commented in his ears.
Her voice sounded emotionless.
“I think that a believer of the God of Chaos was mixed together with the wanderers.”
Cale looked toward the Great Thief.
“Do you know what kind of existences the wanderers in the Five Colors Bloods are?”
Aurora asked and while Cale could not answer…
"The leader of the Five Colors Bloods… The King of Wanderers.”
Choi Han and Choi Jung Soo looked toward Aurora.
She ignored Cale and the Choi men’s gazes as she calmly continued.
“The first wanderer.”
Single-lifers ended up with qualifications to become gods.
Of those people, some of them chose not to become gods and continued their lives in the World of the Gods.
Their lives were endless like the gods.
They were called wanderers because they were said to live an endlessly wandering life.
“The leader of the Five Colors Bloods is the first wanderer.”
