Chapter 1142 — Book 2: Chapter 339: What is your target, your end goal? (3)
14 min read ·
The Arbitrators.
This was a group with quite a large group of core members led by the only descendant of the former Demon King, Aurora.
Aurora blanked out for a moment.
Four words echoed in her mind.
To be a slacker.
To be a slacker.
To be a slacker.
‘What did I ask him again?’
‘Yeah, that is what I asked him.’
She asked that question because this human was saying that the pollution of chaos, one of the three worst disasters in the Divine World and Demon World, was able to be purified by him despite his not being a believer of the God of Chaos. She could not fathom what kind of person this human was, so she had subconsciously asked that while looking at this unbelievable existence.
What kind of existence are you?
That was the thought on her mind when Aurora asked the question.
What is your target, your end goal?
What could his goal be that he was able to purify one of the three worst disasters?
Furthermore, how could he so resolutely tell the gods to deal with their issues themselves?
Yes, that question she asked came from all of these questions in her mind.
She then received the answer.
To be a slacker.
To be a slacker.
To be a slacker.
Those four words continued to echo in her mind.
Aurora was at a loss for words.
She then heard a voice that was not a hallucinatory echo in her mind.
“Human! I think that consistent side of yours is as great and mighty as me!”
“Amazing bastard.”
Raon and Rasheel…
The two Dragons were happily laughing while praising Cale.
“As expected of Cale-nim.”
“I want to learn the young master-nim’s persistent nature as well.”
Choi Han and Mary had gentle smiles on their faces and seemed to have calmed their anger from before a bit as they gently spoke.
“Hahahaha!”
Choi Jung Soo just laughed out loud.
Aurora looked toward Cale.
In terms of the Demonic race's standards, she was a middle-aged woman.
A human’s life was basically over in an instant compared to someone like her who had lived for a couple hundred years.
However, having lived so long let Aurora know.
A single life.
The things within that life could not be compared with an omnipotent value like time.
Numerous things were in each life; Aurora did not think that life experiences would be lacking in Cale’s words and actions because he was young.
In fact, Cale Henituse…
Seeing his firm gaze made her half certain that what was within that gaze was extremely deep.
Aurora couldn’t help but ask.
“…Did you say a slacker?”
‘Does he really want to be a slacker?’
She could see Cale’s gaze remain firm as he answered without any hesitation.
“Yes ma’am.”
Cale then seriously added on.
“Ah, not just a normal slacker.”
Aurora’s eyes clouded over.
They filled with bright lights.
“My dream is to be a rich slacker.”
The bright lights dimmed down.
Aurora blankly mumbled with eyes wide in shock.
“…A rich slacker……”
“Yes ma’am. It is such a difficult dream to achieve.”
Cale looked more sincere than ever as he smiled bitterly.
Pat pat.
Raon patted Cale’s shoulder.
“Human, keep working hard! It might be possible once you get rid of the Hunters and the omnipotent god! Trust me! I'm great and mighty! We can do it!”
Aurora quietly watched the actions of the young black Dragon before raising her head.
The hut was so shabby it was difficult to believe an altar was inside it.
She looked at the old roof of the house and opened her mouth.
“Hahaha-”
An empty laugh came out of her mouth.
She then realized it.
‘This human.’
Cale Henituse.
Cotton had told her about this person.
The person who took care of a couple Hunter households and saved a couple worlds.
Furthermore, someone who does not fear coming into contact with the God of Chaos.
This person-
‘…He’s a crazy bastard.’
She absolutely could not look down on him.
Aurora’s long years of experience were telling him.
It was always the people who looked normal that were the crazy bastards.
These crazy bastards were the ones you needed to be careful around.
Cale Henituse was such a person.
‘The human who contributed to creating this battlefield wants to be a slacker?
Hmph.
And he means it?
Truly crazy bastards are always the scariest.’
Everybody other than Cale’s group didn’t think much about Cale’s dream.
But Aurora was not like that.
That was why she felt an even greater fear.
“What a scary human……!
Gods!
Worlds!
Dimensions!
Someone who wants to deal with all of those things just wants to be a slacker?
A rich slacker at that?
How scary.’
She originally had no thoughts of looking down on him anyway, but Aurora gulped and made up her mind.
‘You shouldn’t mess with crazy bastards.’
Aurora truly firmed her resolve.
However, her gaze changed after hearing what Raon said next.
“But human! Being a slacker might be hard, but didn’t you already achieve the rich part?! Do you know how many mines we- mmph, mmph!”
Cale quickly covered Raon's mouth.
He slowly turned his head.
“…….”
Aurora, whose eyes were sparkling like gold once again, was looking at him with a piercing gaze.
Smirk.
Only the corners of her lips were curled up as she spoke.
“For now, slurp, let us prepare a place for you to rest. Slurp.”
Cale watched her and thought to himself.
‘Her eyes have rolled over.
You should avoid crazy bastards like this.’
Cale firmed his resolve.
He made up his mind that he would not end up entangled with Aurora, no, the Arbitrators.
Cale and Aurora were thinking that each other was a bit crazy as they approached one another.
"We have a lot to discuss, don’t we?”
“Yes we do. Is there a quiet place for us to chat?”
“Please follow me.”
Cale heard Raon's voice in his head.
– Human, why are you looking at the Demonic race the way you look at Clopeh?
Cale did not answer.
* * *
“Umm, when will Cale-nim return from the Demon World?”
“Ah.”
Former Lord Sheritt started to answer this unexpected person who came to see her.
“I'm not sure. But he said that it should not take long. Maybe in a few days?”
“I see. Thank you for letting me know, ma’am!”
Sheritt gently asked the nodding young man.
“Did something happen?”
The young man who received the question…
Lock thought for a moment before cautiously answering.
“I had something to ask him regarding the Beast people.”
“Is that so?”
“Umm-”
Lock hesitated before confirming that Sheritt was the only one there and cautiously continued to speak.
“Umm, they asked me to become the Pope-”
“Hmm?”
Sheritt did not understand what he said for a moment.
She then saw Lock looking frazzled with a flushed face.
“Umm, what I mean is, the Beast people say that I am the same existence as their god, the Blue Wolf. They asked me to be the Pope- to lead them- they keep asking me to do things-
Haaaa.”
Lock clenched his eyes shut and brushed his face with his hands.
Sheritt gently patted his shoulder and answered.
But her voice was oddly cold.
"Who made such a request to you?”
This child, who was between a boy and a young man… Lock stood there with his shoulders curled in.
Cold rage filled Sheritt's eyes as she watched him.
“Umm, some of the Beast people who were at Ryan’s castle and some others who heard the stories about it- Wiesha-nim and some others say it's nonsensical and that I don’t need to worry about it because it is an issue for them to figure out, but… Umm, thinking about the Beast people who have been left behind-”
“Yes, yes.”
Sheritt listened to Lock explain while stuttering and said something after he finished speaking.
"We were all focused on something else that we didn’t think about you at all.”
Ooooooooong-
A video communication device floated up with the wave of her hand.
“It sounds like I need to call Eruhaben over.”
Lock gulped.
He just realized something after coming to Sheritt to look for Cale.
The woman in front of him…
She was the eldest of their group, one of the few who could tell Eruhaben to come and go.
Pat pat.
Sheritt patted Lock’s shoulder for a bit before extending her hand.
She lifted her heels a bit to caress the slightly bowing Lock’s hair.
“You don’t need to worry about anything.”
She consoled him in a low voice.
“I'll take care of it all.”
Lock quickly bowed his head at her gentle voice.
He suddenly felt better.
At the same time, a part of him had an ominous feeling that he might need to call Cale over.
* * *
Creak creak.
Plop.
Cale looked toward the door that fell.
A quiet place for them to chat…
“The door fell down.”
While chatting there, Cale watched as the door fell off before continuing to speak.
“So what you are saying is that the Arbitrators consist of people in the Demon World, the regular worlds, and even the Divine World.”
Screeeeech- click!
Aurora put the fallen door back as she answered.
“That is correct. The majority of the members are of the Demonic race, but we have all sorts of members. We just don’t have any members in the World of the Gods.”
They had no wanderers, single-lifers, or gods.
“The original reason this group was formed was to stop the current Demon King and continue the former Demon King's moderate policies?”
“Yes sir.”
Aurora calmly nodded.
"The current Demon King is an extremist. He wishes to expand his influence in the regular worlds and the Demon World. I am against that.”
She had no hesitation as she answered.
"Although I loathe my father, the former Demon King… His vision is something I agree with. I believe that to be the direction the Demon World should head toward.”
That was why this group's original intentions were to confront the current Demon King.
Cale calmly continued as well.
“You were confronting the current Demon King when you stirred up his information network. That must have been when you learned that the Demon King was plotting with the World of the Gods and the Hunters.”
After that, this group started to grow in order to figure out and stop that plan.
They came up with the name of the Arbitrators and started to accept people from the human world and the Divine World.
“Yes sir. The personalities of the group changed a bit from the original and the size has increased as well, but… There was nothing I could do. I also learned that the Demon King was doing some rotten things.”
“Rotten things?”
Cale asked with confusion and Aurora stared into the void for a moment.
“Members of the Demonic race have disappeared.”
People were disappearing.
“To be honest with you, the reason we attacked that information network was because we started to realize that the people supporting us and the former Demon King were slowly starting to disappear. We then noticed that entire villages of regular folks were disappearing as well. We were looking into that when we discovered that information network.
Haha.”
Aurora laughed as if she still couldn't believe it.
“We then figured out that the reason they disappeared was related to the scheme the Demon King was plotting with the Hunters and the World of the Gods.”
Aurora had no choice but to grow the group.
Even looking past just the ones supporting her, after learning that regular folks were disappearing…
How could she just sit there and let it be?
“However, we still don't know what happened to those folks who suddenly disappeared into thin air.”
Her voice was full of quiet anger despite mumbling in a low voice.
“It’s not like they died.”
There were no corpses or traces.
"They aren't in the Demon World either.”
At first, she had searched the entire Demon World.
But she had not managed to find them.
“None of the dimensions we have our reaches in have sent any information about finding members of the Demonic race either.”
Those folks were not even found in the Divine World.
"That was when we gathered information about a new world.”
New World was the answer.
"We heard from Cotton.”
Her golden eyes looked toward Cale.
They looked profound and mysterious.
They were sparkling but dark at the same time.
The center of her golden eyes were dark.
“You know of a new world?”
Cale answered the question.
“Yes, I do.”
A Virtual Reality game.
New World.
Cale asked her a question.
“Do you want to go with us?”
Aurora smiled.
“Is that possible?”
“Yes ma’am.”
The two of their conversation was pretty easy-going.
There was no need for them to have a deep friendship. They each wanted different things. All they had in common was a common enemy.
"This is great. I thought you would want something from us for helping us enter the New World.”
Cale honestly answered Aurora’s honest comment.
“I have no reason to say no when you are willing to fight our enemies for us.”
New World.
That place was the enemy’s territory for Cale.
He had too few allies.
There were a lot of enemies and even more people who had no idea about anything.
“I guess that is true.”
Cale commented after seeing Aurora smile bitterly.
“However, that New World is quite large. It will also be difficult to act freely while avoiding the enemy’s gazes.”
"I know. I know at least that much.”
Nonetheless, Aurora had to act.
The Demon World.
Bringing peace to this world and arbitrating the numerous factions was the reason she could remain as the leader of this group.
Even some members of the Divine race were willing to work with her for that reason.
“The current Demon King has quite a high approval rating. There are many members of the Demonic race who support his ‘open-door policy.’ But none of them know the truth. If we can solve the issue of the missing village and people and reveal the Demon King’s true nature, his level of support will decrease significantly.”
Aurora had to step in at that moment.
“Mm.”
Cale thought about this extremely complicated situation of the Demon World and thought to himself.
‘I guess I can leave the Demon World to Aurora.’
If she could push the current Demon King out, the Hunters and the World of the Gods would lose a significant portion of their strength.
‘We also need to look into what the Demon King has been doing in New World.’
He remembered Cotton saying that the Demon World was calm right now.
But that was similar to the calm before the storm, the stillness before something big happened.
Cale opened his mouth to speak.
“Can you tell me information about the missing people?”
“Excuse me?”
“I'll try to look for them.”
Well, it would not be him.
‘Our teddy bear will work hard on it.’
“…….”
Aurora silently looked at him.
‘Did I warm her heart or something?’
Cale saying something like this without making it some sort of deal may have touched Aurora’s heart.
Cale could understand it.
Aurora spoke at that moment.
“Money. Do I need to pay you?”
“Excuse me?”
“Excuse me?”
“…No. You don’t need to pay me. I’ll do it for free.”
“Ah-”
Aurora looked at Cale with a look of admiration.
“Those Divine World bastards only move if you pay them! Seriously, after running this group, I learned that money is needed for everything! Everything needs money! Moneeeeey!”
Cale waved her hand as it felt like she could keep going for a while.
“Please give me a list first.”
New World.
He had no idea if the missing folks maintained their appearances or name in the New World.
‘No, I have no idea whether they are even in New World in the first place.’
That was why he needed to check their information first.
The Dark Bear would be the one to suffer.
Cale received a list soon.
“…This person who is first on the list?”
“This is the person who had the strongest faction of the people supporting us.”
Aurora spoke with a sad look on her face.
“He was the wealthiest person in the Demon World despite only being a Count. Considering only his wealth, it was greater than the Dukes and even the Archdukes.”
Cale hesitated before opening his mouth.
“His name was Ruiphe?”
“Yes sir. He was such a good person. A true member of the Demonic race. His elegance and dignity… I had a lot I could learn from him.”
The person at the top of the list of Demonic race to find.
His name was Ruiphe.
He was also a Count.
Cale thought of someone.
The leader of the Hell of Darkness, one of the Eight Evils of New World.
Furthermore, one of the mutants who figured out the weirdness of the New World system.
The Ghost of Darkness, Count Ruiphe.
“Uhh-”
Cale subconsciously commented.
“I think I've already found this guy?”
“Excuse me?”
Aurora blankly asked back and Cale blankly answered.
“Umm, I found him already-”
‘Wait, things are progressing like this?’
Cale became flustered while Aurora blankly asked.
“You know Count Ruiphe?”
“Yes ma’am.”
“How……?”
Cale blankly answered the question.
“He’s my subordinate.”
‘That’s the truth.
I am the final boss of the Third Evil after all.
Ruiphe is my subordinate.’
“…….”
“…….”
Cale and Aurora… Both were silent for a moment.
Screeech, boom.
The door that had been put back fell once again.
