Chapter 1148 — Book 2: Chapter 345: Who the hell are these humans? (2)
14 min read ·
Cale became flustered at Aurora’s changed gaze.
– I don't like it.
The cheapskate suddenly popped up and mumbled.
However, Cale didn’t have time to think about it.
Aurora lowered her head.
She was not lowering her head to bow to Cale.
She was lowering her head toward her hands.
And-
She sniffed them.
“Ah-”
She then gasped.
“This smell of jewels……!”
Sniff sniff.
She continued to sniff them.
‘!’
She even licked them with her tongue.
‘C, crazy!’
Cale subconsciously took a step back from Aurora.
Grab!
But even that was not easy to do.
Aurora's scary gaze locked on Cale, no, more accurately, the spatial pocket bag in Cale's hand.
“!”
She tightly grabbed Cale’s arm.
The jewels that had been in her hands had already moved to Aurora's knees.
The movements were as efficient and accurate as the wind.
“…….”
Cale felt extremely leery.
So he subconsciously let go of the spatial pocket bag in his hand.
Swipe.
Aurora swiped it like a hawk.
"Ahh-”
She then let out a gasp of joy.
‘How crazy.’
Cale thought to himself.
– I really don't like her. Hhmph!
The cheapskate showed his discontent.
– Her obsession with money is almost at my level! She’s dangerous! This girl is very dangerous! Cale, make sure you are careful! Be more careful around her than the God of Chaos!
Cale suddenly got an ominous feeling after hearing the cheapskate’s comment.
“Mr. Cale.”
However, Cale knew the answer after seeing Aurora's face.
"I will definitely use these funds to move the base and the village in the shortest amount of time possible.”
Her face was so resolute it was almost at the level of solemnness.
Cale's mouth slowly opened after seeing this.
Cale had a gentle smile on his face as he smoothly answered.
“A lot of things will happen from here on.”
Pat pat.
Cale warmly patted Aurora's shoulder.
“I will not be able to help you with much while we are together, but…”
Cale reached out his hand.
His hand tapped on the spatial pocket bag.
“There should be a few more chances for opportunities like this in the future.”
Tap. Tap.
Cale tapped on the spatial pocket bag with the jewels.
It was as if he was knocking on it.
“You understand what I mean by opportunities like this, right? Hmm?”
“…….”
Aurora's lips started to shake.
She observed Cale's gentle smile.
“Let us work well together. Do you understand what I mean?”
Cale asked.
Aurora responded without any hesitation.
“No matter what it is, we will do it to the best of our abilities. You will not regret having us Arbitrators as your allies.”
Her eyes seemed to be burning with desire.
The quiet Sound of the Wind spoke up at that moment.
Her husky and firm voice echoed in Cale's mind.
– If my friends and I don’t have to get hurt or work too hard… If things can be resolved with money… That is the best.
The Sound of the Wind calmly continued.
– Isn’t that why we make money?
She then added one last comment.
– It looks like you gained yourself a slave.
‘Slave?
How could you say such troubling words?!’
Cale gasped at the Sound of the Wind's comment.
‘Slaves, no, allies! Wonderful allies!’
The Sound of the Wind snorted.
– You possess a jewel mine as well as multiple of the even more expensive magic stones mines. If you can control the leader of an organization with a few bags of jewels… That’s good business.
Cale pretended as if he did not hear anything.
– You got a good slave, no, a good slave organization.
Cale truly did not hear anything the Sound of the Wind had to say.
Instead, he extended his hand out.
“I hope we have a good cooperative relationship where we can fill each other’s needs.”
“Yes sir!”
Aurora grabbed Cale’s hand and Cale asked her a question.
“Who are we?”
“Arm!”
“Who are you?”
“Arm!”
“Who am I?”
“Arm!”
Cale smiled brightly and Aurora did the same.
– Choi Han, Choi Han! I'm a bit scared right now!
“…….”
– Choi Han, our human and boss Aurora…both of their eyes look weird!
“…….”
– Choi Han, my, my piggy bank will be safe! Right? Hmm?
“…….”
Choi Han could not answer any of Raon's questions. All he could do was cautiously pet Raon’s smooth head.
– Choi Han! Crown prince, I want to see our crown prince!
All Choi Han could do was console Raon, who was looking for Alberu Crossman and avoiding Cale and Aurora, with a warm pat.
However, he thought he should say something to Cale and Aurora and opened his mouth.
“You are right, Cale-nim.”
The two of them looked toward Choi Han.
“We are Arm.”
As Choi Han said that with a soft smile on his face…
“…….”
“…….”
Aurora and Cale looked away.
“Choi Han, you don’t need to be Arm!”
Raon shouted with a gasp.
Choi Han could only tilt his head in confusion.
That was how Cale's group and the Arbitrators’ first cooperative situation came to be.
Code name, ‘We are Arm!’
It was a code name that the now gone White Star would go crazy over if he knew about it.
* * *
The shape of this prison looked quite odd, potentially because they took a regular house and quickly turned it into a prison.
The Demon King's Army was imprisoned inside.
To be more accurate, around ten of the soldiers under the Devil of Flames’ Sixth Regiment were imprisoned here.
“…….”
“…….”
None of them dared to open their mouths.
They were just common soldiers, so they could be seen as weak compared to the knights or mages, but…
They were still part of the Demon King's Army, and one of the Eight Regiments at that.
“…….”
They were not weak at all.
They were individuals who had achieved quite a bit of merit in the numerous battles the current Demon King had faced to get to his current position, fighting against the opposing nobles.
They were also part of the Sixth Regiment, known for their ability to complete any and all orders from the Demon King, even the ones that could be seen as ‘evil.’
“…….”
Yet none of such people dared to open their mouths.
They couldn't even swallow their saliva easily.
No, they could barely breathe properly.
“…….”
“…….”
They just had their heads down as they shook with fear.
Someone was looking down at them.
“…….”
This person’s body was covered by a grey robe and his grey hood was down so low that they could not see his face.
But his gaze alone was enough to get them to shake.
‘This is that power-’
No, could it be called a power?
This intangible aura filled this quickly modified prison.
One of the soldiers subconsciously started to think.
‘…D, Demon King-nim-’
Yes.
It was when he followed the current Demon King to obliterate a territory.
The Demon King had originally been in the rear, but when he faced a strong opposition and leisurely started to walk to the front…
That was when this soldier had seen the Demon King.
The Demon King had walked almost sloth-like, weakly and slowly as if he was bored.
However, each of his steps made the air shake.
‘And-’
The soldier recalled as his liege looked around the battlefield. When he accidentally made eye contact with him…
‘…….’
He had felt so much pressure that he could not even think anymore.
After that, he firmly believed that it was completely obvious that the current Demon King should be the Demon King and that it was honorable to give his life for the strongest figure in the Demon World.
‘Why-’
But why was he feeling the same pressure he felt in front of the Demon King with this guy?
“…….”
Honestly speaking, he had no idea what happened at the center of the village earlier.
He was part of the group dispatched throughout the village to capture the villagers, so he didn’t know much.
All he knew was that he had been suppressed by the intangible power released by this grey robe and was shaking in fear when he got captured.
‘And that the Viscount-nim failed.’
Without even putting up a proper fight.
Gulp.
He gulped.
The aura surrounding him slowly lessened.
He slowly raised his head.
“!”
He then saw a pair of eyes looking at him.
He couldn't see anything else under the hood but those eyes.
The cell was dark.
He could not tell whether the eyes inside the hood were brown or black.
However, they were darker than most normal eyes.
No, they were cold.
‘I'm scared.’
As he had that thought…
“!”
The person's finger pointed at him.
His heart sank down.
The man pointed at two other people as well and walked out as if he was done with what he had to do.
‘What is going on?
Why did he point at me?’
This did not seem good.
He looked toward the enemies standing guard at the cell.
These enemies were covering their bodies and faces with black outfits.
They silently walked in and pulled him up, as well as the other two people.
‘They're strong.’
Each of these guards were strong.
They all seemed to at least be at the level of the knights in the Sixth Regiment.
It could not be helped.
They were core members of the Arbitrators who came with Aurora.
The Demon King's Army had no idea.
“W, where-”
One of the three subconsciously opened his mouth.
Rather than courage, he seemed to have shouted because he could not hold in his fear any longer.
“!”
Everybody in the cell saw it at that moment.
They saw eyes curl up like crescent moons.
Those were the only things they could see in these black-clad individuals.
Eyes.
Those eyes were smiling.
They then heard a voice.
"A glorious opportunity will be given to you all.”
The calm yet joyful voice made the three soldiers shake.
“A holy being has chosen you. Be joyful.”
The three enemies then dragged the three soldiers out.
The remaining soldiers could not easily open their mouths.
Before the door closed…
“Hehe.”
One of the guards could not hold back their laughter.
“Hahahaha!”
He then shouted along with the laughter.
“Oh chaos!”
After that comment, the three soldiers were all knocked unconscious.
Screeeech-
The door closed.
One of the soldiers inside subconsciously gasped.
“D, did he say chaos?!”
He made eye contact with the remaining guard at that moment.
The guard looked at the soldier before calmly commenting.
“Don’t you dare put that esteemed name in your mouth.”
He then looked toward the door and clicked his tongue.
"Tsk. This is why we need more training. How rash.”
It seemed clear he was talking about the guard who laughed out loud.
Gulp.
The remaining soldiers could not easily open their mouths and remained silent.
However, their minds were quickly moving.
This group felt like a religious organization.
Furthermore, the way that guy had shouted chaos…
And-
‘Those three-
They feel like sacrificial offerings.’
It was extremely easy to think that way because they themselves had come to look for sacrifices.
Shake shake shake.
The soldiers started to shake.
Nobody wished for their own deaths.
One of them became courageous at that moment.
“A, are we going to die?”
The stoic guard looked at him and answered.
“The pleasure of chaos will embrace you.”
The guard paid them no attention after that.
However, they heard all sorts of bustling noises outside.
It sounded like people preparing for a festival.
‘…Sacrifices… festival……!’
Those two words filled the minds of the soldiers and they couldn't help but shake.
One of the guards who was dragging away the three soldiers…
The one who had laughed out loud could not stop his laughter.
"Why are you laughing so much?”
“How can I not laugh?
Kahahaha!”
He laughed again as he answered.
“A new base! One where we don't have to worry about doors falling off!”
Boss Aurora had said something.
‘Our ally is super rich.’
That was all the Arbitrators needed to hear to understand everything.
“Hehe.”
“Heh.”
“Kehehe.”
All three of them could not help but laugh as they talked.
“Now we need to start the sacrificial ritual and create an opening for them where the security is lax?”
“Yeah. We then need about five of the regular soldiers from the Sixth Regiment to escape.”
"Do we have to pretend to chase them too?”
“Yeah. Just half-assed though.”
"Then those bastards should head to the Demon King's Castle, right?”
“Probably. They will need to report about today's situation.”
“One of them seemed to be from Viscount Deshuran's Estate. That bastard will be the central figure we release. His loyalty to Viscount Deshuran is high, so he will definitely look to get revenge.”
“Oh. Sounds good. The villagers said they will help too, right? Oh, did the guys at HQ say they will come help too?”
“Yeah. We are all going to do it together.”
* * *
“Huff, huff!”
Viscount Deshuran. Krop, the third son of the butler serving Deshuran.
He ended up as a common soldier of the Sixth Regiment because he had no talent for mana or aura, but… He was pretty smart, which allowed him to serve Viscount Deshuran as a scout.
“Huff, huff!”
He frantically ran.
He wondered if he had ever run this fast in his life.
“Ugh!”
He fell but got back up.
He didn't care that branches were scratching at his body.
Lalala— lalala—
He heard music behind him.
Boom, boom boom!
He heard some energetic drums as well.
People were also laughing.
But he could not look back.
“Huff, huff, huff-”
His entire body was covered in sweat.
‘Crazy bastards!’
The center of the village he had escaped from…
An altar was standing there right now.
Multiple people from the Sixth Regiment were tied on top of it.
‘Sacrifices!’
It was obvious they were there as sacrifices.
People were gathered around them, singing, dancing, playing the drums…
‘And food-’
The villagers were eating and drinking, having a feast.
‘Arm……!
Yes, Arm!
Members of this group known as Arm!
They said chaos!’
He was sure they said chaos.
‘Is it the God of Chaos?
Are they a religion worshiping the God of Chaos?
Then why are they in the Demon World?
I've never heard of them before!
No, behind that-
Sacrifices?
Offering up members of the Demonic race?!
How terrible!’
Krop knew what the Sixth Regiment was planning on doing with the villagers was terrible as well, but…
‘At least we are doing it for the benefit of the Demon World!
We are not doing this shit for a god who has no relations with the Demon World!’
He was also certain about that person.
‘…He’s human.’
The bastard who reminded him of the Demon King…
‘I'm sure he's human.’
A human gave off such pressure?
‘It must be the power of the God of Chaos!’
He must be a Saint or at least a believer.
‘This is crazy!’
Something crazy was happening in the Demon World.
This was something he definitely needed to inform the Demon King’s Castle.
"Ahh!”
He heard someone scream behind him.
It must be one of the soldiers who escaped with him.
‘Fuck!’
He wanted to save his comrade but he did not turn back.
Even if his comrades were used as sacrifices, he had to run away to inform the Demon King about all of this.
This rural mountain village…
An evil that can threaten the Demon World was taking control of this place.
“Huff, huff!”
The sun had set and only darkness covered the mountain and forest.
Krop's face was desperate as he ran through it.
Shhhhhhh-
There was an individual quietly observing him from a distance.
It wasn’t just one person.
“…….”
“…….”
Two people were watching him.
They followed Krop at a set distance until they watched him escape the forest and head north toward the nearest noble territory.
“…….”
One of them followed behind Krop.
The other retraced his steps back.
He took off his mask once he arrived at his destination.
“Cale-nim.”
“Yeah. Is he gone?”
“Yes. He has left. I confirmed that he left in the direction of the Demon King’s Castle.”
Choi Han calmly reported to Cale, who was smiling and eating fruit.
“One of the Arbitrators chased after Krop. He will delay Krop from arriving at the territory as much as possible.”
Chasing but continuing to miss Krop.
He will keep a good balance of the two so that Krop will arrive at the territory, but only after being delayed for a while.
* * *
“Huff, huff!”
His mouth was dry and his entire body felt weak.
However, Krop had run forward with a single focus.
“Who are you?! Wait, this guy is?!”
“…He is a part of the Demon King's Army! Sir, what happened?”
Once he finally arrived at the gates of a nearby territory, he barely managed to get his words out to the knight and soldier who ran up to him after seeing the crest of the Demon King’s Army on his armor.
“D, danger-”
“What?”
Krop said something to the knight before he fainted.
He had not been able to sleep properly.
He had not been able to eat or rest.
He could not even tell how many days he had been running for.
There was only one emotion he had felt while being chased by an enemy this whole time.
The God of Chaos or whatever…
They were not a religious organization.
These bastards-
“A, a cult-”
And their name…
“Arm-!”
This was the moment that the Demon King's greatest enemy, ‘Arm,’ appeared on the surface.
