Chapter 1159 — Book 2: Chapter 356: The amusement of the greatest of all evils (2)
12 min read ·
“Welcome! Oh greatest of all evils!”
The Heinous Dark Bear welcomed Cale, On, Hong, and Raon.
“Oh.”
Cale was a bit amazed.
The soft and squishy looking teddy bear…
Although it was just in name, he had become the agent of the final boss of the Seventh Evil.
He heard the Super Rock’s voice.
– It suits him.
“Hey Eden Miru, have you been well?”
Of course, that egg was Eden Miru.
Clack.
The egg twitched.
“Yes, yes! I've been well too! Hehe!”
Raon petted the egg in the baby carrier with a happy look on his face.
Clack. Clack.
The egg continued to twitch.
“Eden Miru is more active than last time!”
“That’s right, nya! The egg is the same size but something seems to have grown, nya!”
The teddy bear smiled widely at Raon and Hong’s comments.
“Haha! Sir Eden seems to like being carried by me!”
Clack clack. Clack.
The egg's twitching intensified.
On, who was standing next to Cale in her human form, nonchalantly commented.
“I think he’s asking to be saved, nya.”
“…I think so too.”
Cale thought about Eden Miru.
He thought about the Dragon half-blood’s age.
“Mm.”
While they were not there, to be more specific, while Cale and On were not there…
“He probably suffered quite a bit.”
Cale looked at On and commented, making On nod her head and walk toward the teddy bear.
However, Cale walked faster.
“Hand it to me.”
Cale took the egg from the teddy bear.
He then held it on his side.
The egg became quiet.
“Human, I will put the baby carrier on and hold him! I will protect Eden Miru!”
“I can do it too, nya!”
Cale shook his head no at Hong and Raon's requests and said something else.
"Check the status window first.”
Since the update was over, they needed to first look for any changes to their status windows.
Cale had explained game mechanics quite a bit to the children averaging ten-years-old.
He looked toward the egg.
[Eden Miru]
[State: Before birth (recovery rate: 55%]
[Title: Half Human Half Dragon possessing light and time]
“Oh.”
The recovery rate had gone up from 30% to 55%.
“Looks like he will hatch soon at this rate.”
Clack.
It felt like Eden Miru was snorting in response.
Cale checked his status window as well.
‘Mm.
‘Race is still Half Demonic race.’
===================
[Cale Henituse]
[Race: Half Demonic race]
[Title: The hidden boss of the 100th floor who carries on the cursed blood, the true ruler of the Third Evil.
The true hidden boss of the Seventh Evil who looks down on everything from the time within the fairy tales]
[*Can only be approached through a hidden quest]
===================
– What a vicious title.
He ignored the Super Rock.
He then looked at a couple other things.
First of all, the quest.
[@#% Quest has appeared!]
[1. Find the hero with Count Ruiphe and stop the scary @# god trying to destroy this world!]
[2. Please work with Count Ruiphe to find my older brother.]
“It can't fix the error even after the update is complete?”
He couldn't see a few words properly.
This seemed to be an error inside the game regardless of Cale’s registration status in the game.
‘It definitely looks like it is because it is related to the omnipotent god.’
Maybe this error was proof that this was the direction he had to go.
He was in the process of finding an answer that this world could not accept.
“Oh greatest of all evils-”
The teddy bear walked over and politely addressed Cale.
“All of the power you possessed should be possible to register as skills now, sir.”
Cale looked toward the skill window.
“If it is a power that exists inside the game, the skill name will pop up right away, however… Any power that does not currently exist will need to be used and a name determined in order for it to be registered as a skill.”
“Mm.”
The current skills in Cale’s status window…
[Skill: Fear of Chaos (Deactivated)]
There was only this power he had stolen from the Saint of the God of Chaos.
Smile.
And now he found a way to activate that power.
[Skill: Fear of Chaos (Deactivated)]
[*You must go to the Holy Land of the God of Chaos to remove the deactivated status. – See more-]
He clicked ‘see more.’
“Ah, greatest of all evils.”
The teddy bear hesitated as he spoke.
“I was unable to find any information on the God of Chaos. Many religions and even more gods exist in New World, however… This is my first time hearing about the God of Chaos.”
He was extremely warily looking at Cale.
In some ways, finding this information had been one of the top two orders Cale had given him.
One was to hide Cale’s existence as the final boss of the Seventh Evil.
There was also the teddy bear serving as the agent for the new Dragon that would be born, Eden Miru.
That was going well.
He was doing a great job tricking the other Eight Evils. Of course, Count Ruiphe of the Third Evil helped out as well.
As for the other order… Finding information on the God of Chaos.
This had not been easy at all.
It would be one thing if it was information floating around within the Eight Evils, however, it was difficult for the Dark Bear to find information outside of the Eight Evils.
“I, if you g, give me a bit more time-”
Cale was not looking at him.
The teddy bear's voice started to shake even more.
It would be bad if he got kicked out because of this.
‘He said three months!
He told me to move quickly because he had only three months to deal with the issues related to chaos!’
However, forget one year, it would take many years to thoroughly investigate the vast New World.
To find information in such a situation, he needed at least six months.
“That, I, if you give me a little m, more o, opportunity-”
He made eye contact with Cale at that moment.
“Eek!”
The teddy bear subconsciously knelt down on the ground.
“Please don’t kill me!”
He then shouted.
It was because Cale was smiling oddly.
Snicker, yes, snickering would be the best way to describe it.
His whole body started shaking.
‘A, am I going to die?’
The teddy bear’s pupils started shaking.
He then heard the young black Dragon's wings fluttering.
Flap flap!
“Hehe!”
The black Dragon laughed.
‘Sooooob!’
The Dark Bear became even more scared.
But he didn’t dare to make a sound and only teardrops started to form.
“Human!”
Raon asked brightly.
“Who are we smacking in the back today?”
“!”
The teddy bear shook even more like a sail shaking in the wind.
On the other hand, Raon became certain after seeing the smile on Cale’s face.
“Are we looting somewhere? Or maybe we are going to go destroy something?”
Cale’s gaze was still in the air at that moment.
A new quest appeared for Cale the moment he pushed it.
Sub quest 1.
[Head to the capital of the Western Empire and visit the Central Temple of the Sun God!]
“Haha-”
Cale couldn’t help but laugh.
“Wow.”
He was amazed.
He had a feeling.
“It is one of two options.”
The God of Chaos. This bastard was either pretending to be the Sun God, or…
The believers of the God of Chaos were hiding inside the Temple of the Sun God.
Regardless of which one it was, Cale’s next actions had been determined.
But if it was the former-
"The Sun God would be really angry.”
Things were progressing in quite an interesting fashion.
‘Now that I think about it, wasn’t the Hero's Sword the Sun Sword as well?
And his highness’s title was the Sun God’s hurting finger, wasn't it?’
And that Sun God was the real Sun God.
Not the fake existence in New World but a god in reality.
“How entertaining.”
Regardless of the situation, he felt like something entertaining would happen while he progressed with this quest.
“Our good little Dark Bear.”
Cale patted the kneeling Dark Bear's shoulders.
“Y, yes sir?”
Drip.
A single teardrop dripped down the teddy bear's cheek.
“Oh dear.”
Cale warmly wiped it away as he spoke.
“You can take your time finding the info about the God of Chaos.”
“R, really, sir?”
“Yeah. But I need you to do something else for me instead.”
“I'll do anything you wish, my lord!”
“Yes. Yes.”
The teddy bear answered with a solemn look on his face.
“You know about my friends who will soon come over to this world?”
“Yes, my lord! I will serve them to the best of my abilities!”
"Okay. Good. But they will be new friends. They need to get registered.”
“Mm, I will give it a try, my lord! I will work with Count Ruiphe-nim and One-nim to give it a try!”
One was the name for the AI generated by the system.
“Okay. But one of them is the child of the former Demon King.”
“…Excuse me?”
The teddy bear stiffened for a moment.
“Oh, also contact Count Ruiphe and One and ask them to meet.”
He needed to let Aurora meet Count Ruiphe.
As for One, he needed to let One meet with the AI pretending to be the Emperor of the Eastern Empire.
Cale was planning on being the middle man doing everything to get some benefits as well.
“Then create a secret organization called ‘Arm’ and we will become the believers of the God of Chaos.”
“Excuse me?”
“Then look for which of the Eight Evils we can eat up. Ah, but not the First Evil.”
The teddy bear thought that the final boss of the First Evil was a mutant, but Cale was thinking it may be one of the Hunters.
“Excuse me?”
“Once we take over around half of the Eight Evils as quickly as possible-”
“Excuse me?”
Cale shared his plans.
“Let's get out of the Eight Evils and into the world.”
“……!”
"We should raise a kingdom or something like that too. Don’t you agree?”
“!!”
Pat pat. Cale patted the teddy bear’s shoulder.
“It would be great if you could be the first King. Don’t you think so? I'll just be an Archduke and withdraw to the rear.”
“!”
“A Pope that I know will soon be here as well. You know Casillia, right? She already registered. Help her out as well.”
Aipotu’s Dragon half-blood Pope Casillia.
“She will swallow up New World’s underworld.”
“…….”
The teddy bear could not be shocked anymore and just had a blank look on his face.
"The Eight Evils and New World’s underworld. We will gobble up all of those.”
“…….”
“At that point, it is basically a kingdom, isn’t it?”
The teddy bear subconsciously mumbled.
“The Kingdom of Darkness.”
He didn’t know why those words came out of his mouth.
“Oh. That’s a decent name.”
The teddy bear looked at the smiling Cale and said one more thing.
“So cool…….”
‘As expected of the greatest of all evils.’
The teddy bear thought to himself.
The greatest of all evils. This scary existence was finally no longer satisfied with just this small Seventh Evil and the Third Evil.
‘The world-
My liege is planning on going past the Eight Evils and taking over all of New World!’
The esteemed greatest of all evils was smiling while talking about such a grand vision.
He looked like someone with a fun trip coming up.
Someone who found a fun toy.
“Ah.”
‘This must be mere amusement for the greatest of all evils.’
The teddy bear got chills.
* * *
Alberu looked away from his status window.
===================
[Disrespectful Emperor]
[Race: Dark Elf]
[Title: The sun god’s hurting finger]
Main Quest 1 [Become the first ever Dark Elf Emperor!] In Progress
===================
He walked over to Rosalyn who had just finished the tutorial and arrived at the central plaza of Sunlight Village.
“Welcome.”
“Nice to meet you here.”
The two of them immediately added each other as friends.
“… Disrespectful Emperor……?”
The corners of Rosalyn’s lips twitched while reading Alberu’s nickname.
Alberu flinched.
Rosalyn held back her laughter and checked her status window.
“Mm. I'm Level 0.”
“If you head to the Holy Land outside the village and drink the Holy Water, you will become Level 1 and a title will appear. After that, you can gain skills and receive quests.”
“I see. You said that levels are the standards for strength in this world?”
“Yes.”
Alberu answered without any hesitation and continued to speak.
“I don’t know about the people registered as NPCs or mid-level NPCs, but… Let me first tell you about the users.”
Rosalyn and Alberu were currently the only users on Cale’s side.
“Regardless of what kind of power New World’s users have outside, they can only get stronger through leveling up, skills, titles, and other game mechanics.”
An odd smile appeared on Rosalyn's face as she listened to his stern words.
“Your highness.”
She answered in a low voice.
“Please don’t lie.”
The smile disappeared from Alberu’s face.
Rosalyn, who was standing right in front of him…
She opened up her palm.
Crackle-
A small flame fluttered on top of her palm.
This flame was something other people would not be able to see.
This flame that was on Rosalyn's palm despite her wearing the beginner clothes was something she should not be able to make at her level.
Because she was Level 0.
“There is mana here.”
Rosalyn could feel the mana around her.
However, she could not use that mana as usual.
This small flame was the most she could muster right now. It was similar to when she first learned magic.
‘Of course, this flame is my limit right now at Level 0. But still, even without a skill or leveling up… I can still use some of my power?”
Alberu clenched the flame on top of her palm.
The flame went out and Alberu quietly whispered.
“I did not lie to you.”
Rosalyn looked confused.
Alberu explained what he meant.
"But it doesn't mean that your talent disappears.”
“!”
Alberu said to her exactly what Ahn Roh Man had said to him when he first started the game.
“New World is influenced by a person's talents to determine the user’s first title and skills. It is quite an unfair world.”
But there was a reason billions of people still played this game.
“However, you can get stronger by leveling up.”
And…
“There are also many opportunities to surpass the talents that you are initially given.”
It was a world of potential.
"Furthermore, this world has no limits. For users, the limits of death, level, power, or talent… There is nothing like that.”
An end was not decided.
“A world with potential and without a set conclusion-”
Alberu calmly answered as Rosalyn's face stiffened.
"This is a world where even a regular human can use magic to surpass a Dragon.”
Rosalyn immediately realized the greatest charm that New World held.
* * *
The capital of Breeze, the Western Empire.
In an empty back alley, at a dark spot covered by shadows…
“It’s here.”
Cale, who was holding an egg in a baby carrier, looked around.
The children averaging ten-years-old were by his side.
